Hi richy saw the raids at this years ABR then saw your review look a great tyre most of my riding is on the road just worry about wet grip ? Saw your talk at the ABR and the pub quiz with Andy 😂😂keep up the great vids
Hi Richy nice review noticed you are right around to the edge on the back tyre like the sound of those iv got a ktm adventure 21“ front wheel what size wheels are you running on your bike mate
Look really decent tyres Richy ! And nearly 5K out of them can't be bad ,what was the front like Richy ? I thought you where going to show that as well ? Good review of the Dunlop .👍
Hi Richy. How are the tyres for road noise / vibes at motorway speeds. I'm thinking about these tyres after going to this year's Abr festival. Love the looks but do 90 road/ commuting on my Tiger 1200xca (2019). I've also looked at the Dunlop Mutant but they're not available for the front at present. Cheers and keep up the good work Duncan
Zero vibes. Amazing tyre. I don’t notice noise at all but someone on my Picos trip this year said he found them a bit noisy. I’m on a 21” front though, do not sure it’ll that makes a diff. I think you’ll be on a 21”, too? 🧐
Hi Rich, thanks for the info. Please could I ask roughly how much of the 4500 was on the motorways / toll roads etc. 4500 is great mileage for a trip I have but I need to blast out 1000miles each way to get to the trip. I'm worried about squaring the tyre off before I get started. Thanks 🙂
I think they are just ok. You start with a knobby that it is not very deep. After 2500 miles, you probably have a 70/30 tire at best. So, perhaps just getting a good 70/30 that doenst change much is better. Also, my rear tire is noisy at 40mph, annoying whistle sound.
I agree for the most part I have just about 2500 on my rear and I think it has performed admirably on most conditions I just think it doesn't have enough initial tread depth. I have used it for everything and fortunately lots of curvy road and a fair amount of rocky off road. It's looking pretty thin..and it's very expensive in my opinion it hasn't really done much of anything that my standard tire that is less than half the money. Shinko 805
Great review. I wish you would have talked about the longevity some. Especially in the last 500 miles. My question to you would be do you think this could have gone another 500 miles? 😂😂
I got to 10k+ miles on mines (not usable anymore really), but I seem to have rode them on twisties most of the time (used them on my tour through Alps and around Balkans, avoiding highways. They surely did 6k of twisties.). Based on mould marks on sidewalls for the miles you've got - are you mostly touring on highway with them? My center portion looked like that at around 7-8k miles, which is a hefty difference. However, I do weigh packed up 80 kilos maybe, so that might be the reason aswell. Loved the video, subbed. Cheers!
Wow, 10k miles! Thats some going. No, mainly normal twisty/off road riding. Most of the deterioration was done in Spain, loaded up and in the thirstiest. The Vstrom is a super heavy bike though. Which bike are you on? 👍
@@RichyVida I am on Norden. I did try to wear them out fast by riding agressively (for science, ofc), but they just wouldn't powerslide on European roads, and I could get them to slide only on cold rainy days - but even then would be hard to do so. I will be going back to them probably for next summer season.
Hi 👋🏻 At the moment I’m on Mitas E0-7+ on my T7 and starting to look around what other rubber options I fancy, these Dunlops look great, I just wanted to ask you if you have any experience with the Mitas and how these tires compare? They are a lot more expensive, but I accept that, the grip off road on the Mitas is not as good as I hoped, so a little better off road without losing on road what I have with the Mitas is what I’m looking for. Cheers Mike 👊🏻
I`am on my second rear tyre, got 7800 km ish on my last rear tyre last seson .. Its on my ktm 1290 sar... Mostly driven on gravel/tarmac in North Norway....
ADV bikes do not get much mileage from tires it appears. I used to get 16,000 miles (26,000 kms) on Dunlop Roadsmart sport touring tires on a 440 lbs. sportbike, 150 to 200 hp bikes. No chicken lines on tires. Maintaining the proper tire pressure via checking and adjusting it every day for the outdoor temperature helps the tire maintain its profile (no flat centre). This kept it handling, and gripping good in all types of weather. Not much need to slow down much in rain. Also adjusting the tire pressure for when I had a load of luggage on it also. I used up 4 sets and dealer said no one gets that good of mileage and they heard that not many can keep up with me on the twisties. Riding smooth obviously helps. Have a great day.
How actually functional as designed are the last 15 - 2k left though. Im at 2500 and its looking thin. As u said... Brilliant confidence and traction in all conditions love the tire. The clip you showed at 3600 would love to see that wear at 5k. The bloody bastards are 225 a piece in the us if you change it yourself. If i am honest i switched out of my go to from a Shinko 805 at less than half the cost. Not sure it performs at over twice the cost. Performance= 10 cost= 3 confidence =10 and value= 6
"confidence 10" say's it all! I honestly didn't noticed any change in feel or performance on the 5k tyre. Yes, they do seem to look thin after around 4k, and it's only after I rode home from Spain on said low-looking tyre that I realised - even with a ton of motorway miles - they just didn't deteriorate any further.
The 4500 miles, was it hard miles or what took style do you generally ride with? I’ve a tour of 4500-5000 miles later this year and want to know if I could run these 👀Tia
I put these on my '22 CB500X. While they stick very well on the pavement in dry or wet, and seem to be wearing well, they have an obscenely loud whine between 50-70 km/h. It's to the point where people stop and look, and I need ear plugs even for shorter/slower local rides now. Maybe I just have a bad belt or something but it kind of took the joy out of riding, between the noise and the much slower handling response. It's too bad because I waited three months for them to come in, and they look fantastic on the bike. The little 500 has to work a bit harder with them, as is expected of any off-road tire. They didn't transform the bike off-road as much as I was hoping for but I don't have much to compare with other than the street-oriented OEM Dunlop Mixtours (which I actually quite like).
@@RichyVida I've tried everything from OEM recommendation of 42 PSI rear down to about 25 PSI. Doesn't make a difference. I checked tire alignment, too. It seems slightly quieter now that it's only 5 degrees out, but I was hoping with 1000-2000 km it would quiet down but it's still singing away at 50-70km/h. Maybe I have a defective tire (I think it's the rear).
@@RichyVida Thanks, I'll give that a try. Fortunately I've been very impressed with the tire stickiness and road handling for a 50/50 tire. Snow soon here in Canada though! I try to ride right til december and get back out in March. It's the salt that's hard on the bikes.
@@Thirsty_Fox i thought i was going crazy but I am glad that I am not the only one. My rear raid developed a loud sound. It is like a whistling sound at 38 to 42 mph. I checked alignment, everything and it is still there. I ride a vstrom 800 de. I am certainly not buying this tire again as it is not spectacular on anything and it is wearing fast. I am having the same experience shown on this video or slightly worse.
Hey Richie I’m really fancying these for our trip to Morocco in April 24, do you think they’d be good enough for myself on the GSA and Helen on her AT fully loaded for 3700 miles? Thanks dude😎👍

1mm in uk for bike tyres
