      I 'm literally being forced into going gray after I lost 1/4 of my hair so far I believe to COVID. I'v cut it 3x now and it's still breaking off and I had very long hair. they tell me it will grow back.

      @@conniemurphyover70stillgla47 I'm so sorry that happened! I lost a lot of hair recently but not to Covid but anesthesia (I didn't realize that was a side effect). My friend who is a hair science expert recommended I try these vitamins to help: www.vitacost.com/superior-source-no-shot-b-12-5000-mcg-vitamin-d-5000-iu-100-instant-dissolve-tablets-2 - I like them, as they are small and dissolve quickly (I have a horrible time with vitamins). My daughter went "white" the natural way. Her hair was white, ginger, and medium brown. It took about 2 years. I didn't want to go that route.
    I'm almost 80, and had natural medium brown hair. I've dyed it a darker brown most of my life. I've dyed it light brown for the last 2 years.
    About a month ago I stripped the brown dye off with vitamin C and dandruff shampoo. My hair was a strawberry blonde, with darker orange ends. I left it that way for a couple of weeks. Then I bought a box of L'Oreal platinum bleach from Walmart. My hair is a brassy blonde right now. I put some purple conditioner on it from the box of bleach. It toned the brassiness down for now. I bought another box of L'Oreal bleach from Walmart. I plan on using it in a few days, then I will tone my hair. Later on I hope to go to a silver blonde, then to silver, or what ever my natural color is.

    I am 34 who has dyed my hair since the age of 14. I have salt and pepper hair naturally now and started letting my hair grow out for 3 months so my hair dresser could see what I had. I am growing out my natural hair with getting some baby highlights once every so many months now. I find this method really good for me and I have noticed a huge positive difference in my hairs health. I also suggest if anyone does this method to use a good purple shampoo every other wash to help with any warmth.

    Thanks you so much for the information about the dye strip. I’m four months into growing out my grays and have been using temporary root touch up powder every day where I part my hair. Sometimes by the end of the day it would be gone and you could see my demarcation line.

    Well, lo and behold, what I just did was exactly your salon transition suggestion. It worked great and I think will help me wait out the full transition without suddenly wanting to cut it all off a year in. I had always dyed my hair on my own but didn't trust myself not to burn it all off in the bleach-out process as my focus for the first 6 month transition was to get my hair as healthy as possible so I didn't want to wreck that, but I did want to get as much warmth out of the red growout as possible.

    I have long hair (dyed dark brown but now fading to a reddish brown) with about 4” of gray roots. I usually twist or French braid it which hides the demarcation line and looks really cool with the gray peeking out between the darker sections. I am thinking of cutting it into a long bob to get rid of the damaged ends, but still allow me to do a braid as I grow it out again. Love your tips! Hope mine looks as good as yours someday!

    • @KatieGoesPlatinum
      @KatieGoesPlatinum  ปีที่แล้ว

      I also kept a bob style while i grew out very red henna turning orange lol. Covid hit in Italy and we locked down big time. So l grew my hair long for about 2 years, getting henna slowly trimmed out and lots of wearing my hair up. Now l am salt and pepper ish and have a layered bob. Having layers can also speed up getting the colour out of the ends. Four inches is a lot and you will find that with a bob it will soon start to blend better, hang in there. It is a frustrting yet liberating process x

    I tried going natural a few times. This time though enough time has passed that my hair feels so much better. It's shinier and stronger, less dry. I don't want to ruin that. My demarcation line isn't really that noticeable but it gives me the opportunity to compare the colored section against my natural hair. I love it!

    I started going gray in my early teens around 13 or 14 years old. I had super l long hair past my butt. I had always dyed my hair every color you can think of from natural to fun colors and highlights. Last couple years i decided to let my hair grow out a bit and i saw that about 50%of my hair is salt and pepper. I've been growing it out cold turkey and loving it. Right now hair is about 20 inches long with blonde highlights and my salt and pepper is about 10 inches. Growing it out couple more months and I'll do a big chop and it'll just be my natural hair 😊 I'm excited! Your hair is gorgeous btw

    I don't know how it happened but I found a section of hair that I can part it at where you can see the grey hair but there's no sharp demarcation line. So I just use that instead of dyeing it. The idea is it'll grow out and will continue to be a smooth transition 😅 I'm just so done with dyes and root sprays but I can't see myself wearing a wig or cutting it all off in one go. If I didn't have to go to the office for a long time like during the lockdowns (missed the boat back then) then I might do the buzz cut

    How about using temporary rinses? I've never tried that but am considering it. I like the lowlights methods I've seen on YT but it seems expensive. I color my hair at home using henna. Has anyone done lowlights at home? I don't want to go completely gray yet. I was naturally dark brown but have been doing auburns for many years. I would keep coloring it but the older I get the sillier it looks with my fading skin color. I'm 63.

    I'm thrilled to find out about the dye-strip method but no way on the vaseline! Is there anything else - much easier to wash out - to use instead? Or how about not using anything and doing a careful job? Oh dear...and more questions: How does one with long hair wear a wig? Where does all that hair go and it must feel like being in a sauna even in the winter. It seems a topper would be simpler but how hot do they get?

    • @KatieGoesPlatinum
      @KatieGoesPlatinum  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, some people don't use the vaseline - they're just careful, as you suggested. See this video for updated pictures on the dye strip technique - this lady I featured does NOT use vaseline: th-cam.com/video/_fVMrek-L_s/w-d-xo.html
      Re: wigs being hot, I wonder about that myself but a lot of people says they don't mind it (if they line a cold climate). Toppers would definitely be cooler.

    How would a temporary wash-in shampoo hair color work that you just applied to the roots while the gray was growing out? Would it give enough color to your roots to match the rest of medium brown hair? Again, this in the temporary shampoo-in color that washes out. Also, would the go-gray hair color remover treatment damage the hair and do you know how many applications it might take for medium brown hair?

    • @KatieGoesPlatinum
      @KatieGoesPlatinum  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi, re: temporary wash in shampoo - I'm not sure, but you could try Keracolor Klenditioner in a shade that matches your hair and experiment with it. A lot of women have told me it did not stain their silvers.
      RE: go-gray system,some of my readers tested it for me. It did fade their dye a bit - not dramatically but subtly enough that they were happy with the results.

      Hi! Unless you get it professionally bleached and dyed to match (which can be very damaging to dark hair and expensive to maintain), I'm not sure what you can do. There's a chance that you'll eventually lose pigment in all of your hair as the years go by, but that's not always the case. (I personally think the contrast is very pretty)
