Hi Carrie- I just wanted to say thank you so much for introducing me to Overtone. I am in my fifth month transition ( about 3 1/2 inches of white roots) and I have gotten nothing but compliments on my hair. My white hair is a vibrant silver and I find that the product tones down the brassiness of the old brown color. I also find that my hair feels healthier. This product has been a game changer for me during my transition period. Thanks again!!

You need to highlight the brown hair and then use the overtone. That is what I did and now I use overtone daily conditioner every other day and the deep color conditioner every 2-3 weeks and now my roots are growing out and blending with the highlighted hair that I used the overtone pastel silver on. You have to bleach the brown out for the overtone to work, unless you just want the brown to stay. I love overtone and when my silver gets a little too blue, I mix the pastel orange in the the pastel silver and it takes the blue out and it is more silver. Great product.

I have been using Overtone (pastel silver) for quite some time now as my transition to grey continues...a little over a year dye free. My hair is not as thick as your hair and I use quite a bit more Overtone product than it appears you did in the video. I've had great results with it and so happy that a friend mentioned the product to me...

At 53, I’m just now considering going grey to quit the due process. I’ve decided to go with a strip dye grow out process so there’s less of a noticeable stripe. But I’m also going to keep this overtone conditioner method in my back pocket for when it’s grown out to a certain point.
My hair is also quite similar in texture to yours fine (but there’s lots of it) and wavy, so I’d be very interested in the “new to you” product line you’ve had luck with (your waves look great: nicely defined and healthy)

I used fanola purple shampoo, just put it all over on dry hair, left it for ages lol then washed it out. Toned the dark brown fading dye part and slightly darkened the root so worked pretty well. I’ve grown all the dye out now and just use purple shampoo now and again, my hair is a steel grey.

I wish I could post pictures because yesterday I went to my stylist and had her put silver highlights in my hair from my demarcation line down through the bottom. I’m a dark brunette with very warm tones, and I have warm highlights. She cooled it all down and was able to give me this beautiful, ashy silvery Textured look from root to tip. I have straight hair. I’m thrilled with the results but wondering how it’s gonna work out over the next few weeks.

@@CarrieJessica I have learned the hard way that strand tests are important. There is another grey hair blogger named Erica and she made a huge mistake by putting overtone rose gold on her beautiful all grown out silver hair. The overtone stained her hair. Is overtone toner? One year, you rock. I"m trying sooo hard to NOT do toner. Done it so many times, time to just leave it alone to grow it out. Brassy blonde strands is making me nutss. Cut off a half inch a month for like two years. Im only about 5 mos. about 2/5 inches silvery/mousy brown growth. I could try what you did but will it affect my brassy blonde???

I know this was 3yrs ago, but was your brown hair natural or box dyed?

I wonder how this would go if you had natural red hair? I'm fighting my greys back by dying and I'm concerned as to how the red will blend with the grey - it looks more silver than grey to be honest. I'm looking around to use an overtone to blend it more from the time I start to grow it out. I haven't embraced this yet.

Would this work for old ash highlights that have washed out to more grassy blonde now? I had silver highlights blended to my grey but they washed out in 4 washes or so and have gotten blonder since.

Hi Carrie! Just started to follow you and starting to let my hair gray. Tired of coloring it. What is the shampoo product you mentioned you were using? Thanks.

I love your cut. I’ve been asking my stylist to cut like yours but maybe I’m asking incorrectly. How do I ask vs just asking for long layers?
