Sonata N-Line Dyno Run - Baseline (294whp & 295wtq)

  • I know the graph looks whacky. But as you will hear, the graph has three shifts in it. We forgot about the switch under the gas pedal for the Hyundai N-Shift, where if you push through that switch, it automatically downshifts regardless if you are in manual mode.
Our next dyno run we will remind ourselves not to do it.
But serious numbers for what is rated from factory 290HP and 310TQ at the crank. Getting 294whp and 295wtq is ridiculous! The SIXTH Intake and the exhaust really should not have made a tremendous difference since it still has factory downpipes and cat.
Full tank of Shell 93 octane must really hit lol.

With the JB4 it made 335whp. That was a second run with some heat soak. IAT’s were 110+ so fans should have helped more than that since it was 83 degree day. Pretty happy since I know it’s more with proper air flow and not standing heat soak.

Should have done a proper stock baseline pull. That SXTH Element intake and exhaust is probably good for 20 HP at the crank even with stock downpipes. More air in and out will make extra power even on an untuned car.
The Elantra N is apperantly has some good Dyno #'s for stock, SXTH dynoed the DCT one at 276 whp but on paper Hyundai only claimed 276 crank.
So maybe they did the same a bit with the sonata N but i don't know. I'd love to see a bone stock Sonatas N Dyno #'s.

You can swap a vw dct in without much hassle. It’s been done before using the dq250 found in the Gti and golf r into many Honda motors and type r’s specifically too.
There is also the dq381 and dq500 that has an extra gear ratio and can handle more torque. They are more available and are better designed than the Hyundai/Kia unit and you’re much better off with the vw dsg if you want to do it.
