The Righteous Brothers are raw pure talent; their voices blend so well together;
This was a live performance on the Andy Williams show there was no do overs just his voice and a small microphone. THIS he did solo.The other brother was there but they both did solos performances in their careers. Bobby Hatfield owns this song no one can touch his performance it was sheer perfection. Artists before him and after him have done this song but no one will ever do this song better than him. He had a voice from the heavens above Many fell in love to this song and with him ❤. Bobby was the tenor voice and Bill Melody was the baritone voice they shouldn't have blended together but they did and it was pure magic.
I fall in love with Bobby each time I hear/see him sing this song. Pure talent,heart and soul. RIP Bobby Hatfield you are missed more than you will ever know.

Man, this song was done, LIVE, in 1965, on the Andy Williams Television show, before a live audience. The live Orchestra was in the background. There were no special effects, no boosters of any kind, just a small microphone and a huge voice. There was no one could sing this song like Bobby Hatfield.
You need to do a reaction on For Your Precious Love by Jerry Butler and the Impressions. I believe it came out I the mid 1950s. By the way, Bobby Hatfield's live performance of Unchained Melody was absolutely STELLAR! It absolutely pierces my HEART and SOUL! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you listen to this song and think of someone in prison, it takes on a whole different meaning. That is what the song was about. Someone stuck in prison and missing the love of his life. Listen to it one more time and apply the lyrics to that situation.
Just a mention for the superb accompaniment from Andy Williams orchestra They were also superb following Bobby's performance, you knew something big was coming just by the change in their intensity. Amazing.

This amazing performance by Bobby Hatfield was on The Andy Williams Show in 1965. You may have heard the song in the movie Ghost (the pottery scene), but this live performance is so much better than the recording. Bobby's beautiful voice, amazing vocal range and artistry combine to make this one of the best live vocal performances I've ever heard. (I'm almost 70 and have heard a lot of live performances.) Bobby and Bill Medley were the Righteous Brothers (not really brothers, though). To hear both and their great harmonies check out You've Lost That Loving Feeling.

Bobby did this one solo. They aren't related. They chose the name "Righteous Brothers" because someone from the crowd yelled out "that's righteous brother" and they used it.

This song was written in 1955 for the obscure prison film, "Unchained". It was a "Top 10" hit for Al Hibbler when he recorded the song. The Righteous Brothers recorded it in 1965, and made the song their own. "Unchained Melody" is one of the most covered songs worldwide in the history of the recording industry.

I'm a fan of 80's music but nothing this good came out of the 80's. Over production and pomposity killed music. This simple orchestration and complete vocal talent wins every generation over. The irony is that it's not that today's artists couldn't do something like this... they just don't.

This song was recorded in 1965. The original was in a movie sometime in the 50’s. It was about a man in prison wondering if his girl was waiting for him. The movie was called “Unchained”.

lol, elvis ofcourse became a fan when he finally recognized Bobby could blow him right off stage. And that's after he threw a magnum 357 at the telly (the somany) smashing it to smittereens yelling 'that whitey there just overtook my stage !' while clucking some more pills into his throat to sleep it all off wanting to forget..that he THOUGHT he owned it..while Bobby KNEW he did. This is Bobby Hatfield tenor n most women can't hit the high notes Bobby did. Bobby died few years ago but Bill is still singing. This was done about 1965 and was when there was nothing but a live orchestra or band. No modern hoopla was used. It was just a normal mike and only his voice (no echo or added effects) and he did it all. They did it on talent only and no extra gizmos.

Righteous Brothers are two guys who are not actually brothers, they are a duo. But this is a solo song so they flipped a coin to see who would sing it .. this is Bobby Hatfield, and the other member of the duo was Bill Medley who arranged the music for this performance .. and he did so well with that, building up the music to the passionate end, so credit to Bill Medley too .. I also read that Bill Medley played the piano in the background for this song, and that Bobby sang this song while suffering from a head cold! This performance was done live, (with no auto-tune or other devices used by today’s musicians) and was better than the recorded studio version. Bobby suffered from stage fright and was particularly nervous in this performance because his parents were in the audience... you can see him bite his lip then grin at the end because he knew he nailed it!

I watched this live in 1965 on The Andy Williams Show, I was 16 at the time. Still have their singles on 45 vinyl and all their albums on 78 Vinyl. Still one of my favorites duos of the 60s.

This song was done in 1965 so a lot of years before you thought. In these days that we have more sexuality in music, it isn't about love but lust. Bobby Hatfield had a way of just loving a women through his voice to relate true love to someone he cared about. It is a real shame that most of the music isn't pretty just junk.

May I make a suggestion? An original song by the A Capella Group Home Free that is billed mostly as a Christmas song because that's when it came out. The name of the song is Snow Globe. Listen to the lyrics. I think romantic songs are making a comeback outside of country music.
I am going right now to correct a lie, that Bobby died of a drug overdose. He did NOT! Bobby had a severe heart problem, undiagnosed until his death. His arteries were 95pct blocked to his heart. That evening he and Bill flew in from California. He said that Bobby looked 'chalky." and didn't feel well, would go to his room and have dinner. His last words to Bill were, "Yeah, !'ll see you later, Beany. He went to his room and died. No drugs found. He was in his bed with the tv remote in his hand.
This was the 60’s not the 80’s and we are currently in the 21st century. The 20th century ended in 1999.
