You are, unfortunately, describing my mother and the way she handled her children, including one brother that has no respect for women. She has passed, and she pretty much left me with this mess and I am cleaning it up now. @@I2AmUSbeautifully stated. We inherit so much trauma and mess that far outlasts the individuals that never faced their own healing and attempted to ensure their lineage didn’t suffer from their “sins” (trauma isn’t about blame or guilt, it’s about accountability. YOUR trauma wasn’t willingly given to you but it is yours to free yourself from and grow and evolve from it.)
So many people cannot face their own truth and lack self awareness. Another reason why folks insist on interfering with OTHER folks traumas constantly to the point where we’ve been indoctrinated to believe “Love & Hip Hop” and all of its curated cultural genocide….is a complete normal way to approach life and interpersonal relationships and it sickens me. I don’t jusge people that do, but I haven’t watched TV in almost 2 decades and I’m only 33 because I feel spiritually I can see it for what it is.
My late fiancé and I had these kinds of conversations ALL THE TIME, I was r@ped at 12. My parents were married for 3 decades but my pops was never present in any other way outside of physically but I don’t resent either of these men. My late fiancé was the most incredible man I’m convinced I’ll ever know. I am so honored and blessed to not only have had him as a lover and a friend, but a leader, a mentor and a confidant.
Even before him, I refused to jump on the male hate bandwagon and I feel for y’all man I really do. So many of these women are broken and jaded and I totally get it but ultimately we have to look at the fact that it hasn’t ALWAYS been this way but no one pauses to consider that they’ve been indoctrinated and brainwashed into glorifying death both literally and FIGURATIVELY. Might as well be a bunch of spiritual zombies roaming around, the CDC already told and I’m rambling and half joking at this point 😅😂 but that’s only because the reality of it all is oh so painful. Lord have mercy. My heart is with y’all my brothers in love. 👑♥️✨

The part about the son-husband thing really hit close to home for me. My dad left when i was 11 and then all through my teenage years, my mom would constantly assert that i was the man of the house and that i should be catering to her by fixing/washing her car "just because", cook dinner, clean the apartment (including her filthy room), she once tried to get me to rub her feet, and would even include me in big financial decisions (like what state we should move to, what kind of house/car she should buy) but whenever things didnt work in her favor, suddenly i was just a child and i should know my place. Now at 29, im married with 3 kids and we dont talk because i keep "prioritizing that girl" (my wife) over her. Up until now i thought that shit only happened to me😢

But then I realized that a lot African American also have the same experience. I just think it’s a black thing. The black community has women that just choose the horrible men to be fathers. These fathers are often times just don’t really want the job so they eventually leave (just like both of our fathers) or the mother makes sure the child never sees the kid’s father. This creates all these dumbass issues we have to deal with. I would recommend you go to therapy if you haven’t already. If you make your wife your safe space for you to vent, don’t be surprised when she’s done with you and you’re going through a divorce, all those things that you told her under the influence of emotion in “secret”, they get used against you. You better not.I will not vent to someone like that. That is a bad recipe for disaster.

And you do not vent to your wife about the things that you are having trouble with. Your friends, sure. a female who is a professional and perhaps of a different race, sure. And by professional I mean a therapist, and it cannot be a liberal therapist it cannot be a liberal therapist.
