Was laying in bed last night trying to remember a fly you used partridge tail for the wings. This works too. Still like to watch you use a Hun tail if you recall the fly? Beauty of a fly. Bet the Browns would eat that too. Maybe they'll close the plant for a couple of weeks and I can quarantine myself in the mountains on a trout stream or two. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Probably Skunked, What I am doing is stopping the wire from coming round with the thread turns, you can do this with any material that you are tying in...You can also wind the thread at an angle rather than straight round which will also stop this happening.. All the very best Davie
Hi Davie! A rather strange fly in composition, although the silhouette seems to be normal: the use of a deer in the head tells us that the fly will stay in the upper layers of the water column. Yes, but it's a salmon fly... Thx 🛶🎣🐟 🤝
Works great fished near the bottom on a sinking line for bass too! I tie mine with a longer tail and wing tied a bit fuller using natural color PT to imitate Johnny Darter minnows.
@@tattvamasi_1 The deer-hair head and collar imitates the shape of sculpin and darter heads and pectoral fins very well. Additionally the bulky head pushes a lot of water and causes the fly to "shimmy" which makes the tail "swim" realistically in the current. Sculpins and darters are bottom dwellers, the sinking line gets the fly down into the strike-zone and the buoyancy of the deer hair helps keep the hook from catching on the rocks too much. I tie/fish a "boobie" style skulpin for lake fishing that also works well but the deer hair is easier to shape. Cheers!

When you are tying in the wire and advancing your thread, you are tapping on the top of the hook, what are you doing there?
