The performance of Dead Space is actually very impressive with the GTX 280. It looks like it uses all 4 CPU cores fairly well, too. You could definitely bump up the resolution, as the game requires a 60fps cap in order to avoid physics glitches and you're already getting over 100fps. Dead Space is a game that has aged very gracefully and is so well optimized- despite a few technical issues on PC.
I was surprised the CPU that's not designed for the socket works when you cut into the board in order for it to fit! Many of us will have watched in horror when you cut off the tags on the motherboard, then everything powers up! You could try changing a tower into an RGB with acrylic instead of glass, painting the interior black, then add some lights.
It's not really beating it, the CPU can't handle the 6800, bottleneck as indicated by the % utilization. Edit: come to think of it , the CPU also bottlenecks the 280...
The 6800 XT was between 5-30% utilization so it wasn't even trying. I don't know what was the resolution but at 1440p the 6800 XT would probably wipe the floor with 280 even with those games in this system.

Bro change your blade on your carpenters knife haha.
remember being a kid and having a quad core with a gt 9800
I want that case! That case is ball to the wall man! great video, I liked all the parts you chose and the era. The giant coolers on the memory was completely ridiculous. you know? just the way we like it lol! I really enjoyed this video.
My only thing would be that the video needs more of a soundscape. it was kind of a silent video for the most part. Im not asking you to speak in your videos or play obnoxious music, (thanks for not doing that) but I dunno... needs more audio. some kind of audio. maybe lol
the psu being dead can't really be blamed on the seller...it's old af lol. perhaps older than some of the people reading these comments...but it is irritating to get crap hardware. great video!
That case looks sick as hell
where is the windows vista part?
Oh my god, great time, i remember many of these games. ❤
She's 15 years young🔥🔥🔥
I enjoyed your video very much. Look forward to more videos like this. Best wishes from Panamá 🇵🇦
I wasn't expecting the ASMR when I clicked on this video
I built my first legitimate pc for my own money three days ago, the sight of you modifying the cpu socket with a rusty wallpaper knife was one of the most uncomfortable things I ever saw. Great video nonetheless.
he dumb didnt need to do that
I love how the 6800xt is basically sleeping while playing old games. 15% usage is crazy low.
My first gaming pc in 2009 was a phenom 2 955 be, asus m4a79t deluxe, ati radeon 4890 xfx xxx edition, 4gb ddr3 1600 mhz corsair vengeance, cooler master cm690, hd 500gb seagate 7200 rpm, corsair hx 1000w modular and a cooler master hyper 212. Miss the old days... Greetings from Brazil!!
those raidmax cases are so beautiful.
Literally it was my first pc box, love it.
My first build in high school (2003ish when I knew nothing) was a pentium 4 2.6ghz , msi geforce fx 5200 128mb (i believe), somekind of 500w comp usa psu, 80gb nextor harddrive, and 4x 256mb ddr ram sticks, blue acrylic case with blue lighting.
Ore of this. Love the new old builds
Now that I've built my own pc for the first time I was curious what the gaming standard was my senior year of high school.
Drawing a russian soldier on the gpu is the worst they could ever do. They fell on the knees in my eyes.
So your telling me that after all the horrific things you did to the cpu. It still worked? Please explain this to me but with putting socket 1155 cpu in socket 1156 motherboard.
How is your 6800XT so hot playing these old ass games?
2008 was the year X58 dropped.
If I would do a high end 2008 gaming build I would go for a i7 965 and two GTX 285 in SLI.
That was the cream of the crop of 2008.
It made the Q9650 and X5482 look like a midrange option.
And the GTX 285 was 10% faster then the GTX 280
I love the rusty cutter knife
Вау! Какая упоротая некромантия)) Нравится...))
nice work but...
why is your cutter knife also 15 year old??
Imagine some guy from 2069 making video of "Building an old vintage high end pc from 2023 with RTX 4090- the most powerful gpu from 2023" 💀
