Dont short sell older people. I have started the zero waste process and have made my own deordorant, laundry soap, soap, reduced aerosol cans, make my own cleaning products and am still continuing. I am 67 years old. Who stops learning?
my 69 year old grandma just started experimenting and made a batch of eco-friendly laundry detergent (without me telling her about it!) so yeah I see Pinterest is good for her:)
I hope you bought the toothbrush after you had used up your previous one. A lot of people say like:”oh yeah I’m so environmentally friendly, I bought a bamboo brush yesterday”, and then they just throw away their perfectly fine plastic brush just because it’s plastic and bad. Of course buying plastic brushes is bad, but when you throw away a perfectly fine plastic brush because of that, THEN it becomes wasteful and bad. Just my opinion, and I really shouldn’t be answering an one year old comment heh
hi! im not a "zero waste" person yet, but your youtube channel has really opened my eyes to it. I'm super interested in it,and I've been doing little adjustments here and there: no straws, bamboo tooth brush, its been pretty easy so far. thanks for your videos:)
Tip for teenage girls: the earlier you get into using a menstrual cup the more disposable tampons and sanitary pads you'll save! And you'll save so much money too 😋
I've been looking into this for myself. but I'm nervous about it for if i have to change it while I'm at school or something and I'm germiphobe so idk.
I'm almost 14 and vegiterian striving to be vegan and really interested in the environment and reducing my waste because why would u want to ruin the planet
And don’t underestimate your parents. At 50 I’ve joined my son in becoming vegan and I’ve been moving towards zero waste for a couple of years. In the Summer I grow most of our food, I’ve got a bamboo toothbrush and a house full of secondhand furniture.
Thats so amazing! My mom went vegan because of my fiance and I as well, we started growing our own food in the summer as well and we are slowly swapping things when they are finished!
I am 13 and I am interested in this way of living and I am slowly transitioning. Today I starting collecting glass jars and I am going to make my own shaving cream, shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste. I use Coconut oil for lotion and I am going to use cloth pads and thinx panties for my period. I also donate the cloths I out grow. I also use handkerchiefs instead of tissues. Thank you for your help and encouragement! ❤️
I completely agree with your tip on sharing knowledge non-confrontationally. I'm a second year in college, but I was just home for a month for Winter break. That's when I really started to watch zero wast you tubers and do research on my own. I would just mention things I found out or share a video with my mom, and surprisingly she was really interested! She told me she's going to start using cloths instead of paper towels (something I never imagined she would do) and all it took was a couple suggestions from me!
The same thing for me! I recently learned about zero waste over the winter break, and I showed my parents some of the information i learned and my dad is finally going to make a switch from disposable coffee cups to a reusable one, and my mum is really into minimalism anyways so she thought it was pretty cool too.
That's awesome! Even though the beginning steps are small, it's crazy to think how much waste we've already saved by sharing the information we learn as we go! So thankful for the zero waste TH-cam community
I am a college grad who lives at home and another big tip that I have is to make sure that you aren't seeing their waste as your waste. Yes you want them to change just like you are, but people are on their own path. My dad throws out a ton of paper towels everyday. No matter how many conversations I have with him, he wont change. However, I do all of my own cleaning withe my reusable cloths and I use a cloth napkin instead of a disposable one. That's what I have to focus on. Who knows, he could potentially stop using paper towels.
Wow. This is the first time seeing this type of video directed at teens. I've watched your channel for quite a while and it's so cool to see this. I'll be 18 this year and have slowly been transitioning since I was about 15. I live in Canada and a new zero waste store popped up. It's about 7km away and difficult to get there without a car. When winter starts to die down I'm going to go check it out. Exciting video, can't wait for your next. 😉
You wouldn't happen to be in Toronto, would you? I'm just curious if the zero waste shop you're talking about is close to me or not, lol. Also, Bulk Barn recently launched a reusable containers program which is AWESOME.
I am a teen and last month I went completely vegan and zero waste all at once. Luckily I have parents who support me in that. They give me money for grocery shopping, and drop me off at the store. They let me do my own thing. If it is possible for you to get a grocery allowance, like I did, it is amazing. If not, you can still go with them!!!
Omg your so lucky! My parents call me a hippie, my parents also say i need to eat meat to stay healthy and my brother constantly annoys me by screaming organic at me and it really pisses me off. My dad even shouted at me when i wanted to put some onions into the shopping cart without a bag.
That’s a tough situation!! It’s difficult to show people that these things are important. I’ve had my fair share of being called a hippie and being teased so I understand where you are coming from.
This is pretty horrible to read and i'm really sorry to hear it - honestly the best thing you can do is completely ignore them and make them feel like they can't hurt your feelings. Stay strong in your beliefs, don't let them know they get to you and keep fighting the good fight! We are all here to support you and help you on your journey - so know that there are people who understand and care about your transition
When I was a teenager living at home with my mom, i got very preachy and aggressive over recycling and that we should be gardening, composting, and eating more vegetables. I got kicked out after not too long haha. However, now (Like ten years later) her whole yard is a garden she recycles and composts what she can. She's been doing all that for about 7 years now and I have since moved out of state but I love going home and seeing whatever new thing she's picked up!
Love the topic today. I am not a fan of plastic, however... I have 3 kids. Folders were required for school and the paper folders got absolutely destroyed on a frequent basis. We went through alot of folders. I switched to a small handful of plastic folders about 12 years ago and my college kids are still using them. Now I try to evaluate the lifespan of the item and what truly makes sense. I could be passing these folders to grandkids.
Yeah I agree it's a tough topic and in the end your plastic folder will last a life time and save you money - i'm afraid these are the things I come up against often and am still trying to figure about the best way to move forward! Thanks for sharing :)
This is so helpful, thanks for this ❤ I'm 17 and still live with my mum and my she's not too keen on veganism and zero waste, but this video really helped ❤
I’m going to be moving in with my Mum after living away from home since 19 (I’m now 25), and travelling for a year, while I look for a job. I know I definitely get construed as being preachy or defensive when it comes to my family and veganism/environmentalism, and I’m still learning how to communicate it in a calm way. This helped a lot and makes me feel a lot better about something that feels like a huge step back, thanks 😁
Rose Ellen I definitely relate to coming off as preachy 😂 my tip is to totally shut up. And just exist. If you're cooking delicious food and open to cooking for them and allowing them to taste, you'd be surprised at how effective that alone can be! My 53 year old French mother is considering going vegan simply because I keep my mouth shut 😂😂 good luck!
I know when I was starting to make the switch when I still lived with my parents I would save up the little money I had and invest in zero wast alternative , my first zero waste purchase was a double edge razor. I also felt more indipendent after that purchase because I no longer needed to ask my parent for rasor refill heads because I’m set for life now when it comes to razors haha. But I also shared all the things I was learning with my mum and she made a few switches herself, for example we made the switch to solid shampoo bars together:) it was also this way that I accidentally convertend my parents , boyfriend and his brother so becoming cruelty free. Sharing knowledge is powerful! It was never my intention to convert them, I was just sharing what I was learning and how easy I realized it was than lead by example because I was so pationite :)
I love you, girl. I live with my in-laws, my husband, my son, 2 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, and a chinchilla. I don't push them anything, I do my own thing. I do recycle the drinks that my son drinks out of. Also, one tip, when you are going grocery shopping at a regular supermarket, buy veggies and fruits instead of junk food. Also say you want to eat more produce because you want to be healthier.
These tips are really helpful not just for living with parents! I live with eight other housemates and they are definitely taking notice of my habits!!
Thank you so much for this! I bought refillable pens for school this year, and I usually encourage my parents to go the farmer's market instead of to the grocery store. Plus, there's a lot variety in the market. I started using reusable bamboo cutlery for my lunchbox instead of a new plastic one everyday. I plan to start composting in the near future 😊 I'm 16 by the way
I found it really helpful. I live in Portugal and it is really hard for me to find zero waste shops or unpackaged foods but i use reusable bags. I thrift as much as i can even tho here the second hand shops are a little expensive (clothes can cost as much as brand new). I try really hard to raise awareness about zero waste and veganism paths to my mum (my dad is impossible to change tho xd) she is really excited about all this. At home we reuse our plastic bags instead of throwing them right away. Finally, it can be hard but i will begin my journey as soon as i can !!! Thanks for your videos they are inspiring ❤❤
assimsoja se viveres em Lisboa, já existe uma oferta considerável de lojas que vende a granel e onde podes levar os teus próprios sacos de algodão ou mason jars! Brio, Maria Granel, são alguns exemplos
Thank you for making this video, it was so helpful, I'm 16 and I live at home so it's great to have some ideas of what to do to be more conscious of what I am using.
*I love your videos and your message!!* I’m 16 and I‘m really interested in zero waste, global warming etc. Most of my presentations are about that topic haha. I try not to use any plastic or buy packed food at all. For christmas I finally got a (steel?) water bottle and I recently started buying my clothes second hand. My mom gave me 10€ per month (pocket money? sorry I‘m not from the usa or england ), so I talked to her about giving me a little bit more and she agreed after several attempts. My mom doesn’t have the time to go grocery shopping with me, but now I‘m able to buy a few things from different stores where they’re unpacked. And I convinced her to stop buying straws, tinfoil, cotton pads etc. :) Plus I stopped buying shampoo, shower gel, pencils and notebooks, because my grandma likes to give me her old notebooks and send me shampoo for some reasons why 😅. Keep going 👏🏼
Thank you!! I’m interested in starting this lifestyle and I have made a few small changes, I’m trying to help my parents make little swaps like my parents no longer buy fruits wrapped in plastic!
I love how you talk about making it easy for others if you want to make a change. Also not being superior or too much at once when showing your parents to eliminate waste
You are a Saint!!! I was just thinking how amazing it would be to get some good tips for teens cause I'm 15 and don't really know how to do this thing alone. And my family thinks I am crazy being interested in zero waste. Thank you so much!!!!! 😁😘
I'm 14yrs and I'm so intererested by zero waste and vegan lifestyle! I love your videos so much lately, I went Vegetarian 5 month ago, and my parents opened their eyes on meat and dairy industry ! Now we are kind of zero waste at home and I'm so grateful for all thats and for your videos ! ❤
thanks for making this video! I've always wanted to go zero waste but because of the lack of these types of videos, I always imagined it happening when I move out of the house. I love your channel and your videos inspire me to be more environmentally friendly!!
Thank you so much. I've convinced my parents to make small changes and be aware of their plastic use. I try and make small changes myself and you are such an inspiration to zero waste lifestyles 💜
The reason I love this channel is because it’s simply made for education. This is one of the few zero waste, vegan, and/or minimalist channels that doesn’t try to shame those who can’t live the same lifestyle as flawlessly. I’ve never watched this channel and felt lectured. You’re an amazing educator.
Love this video, I'm a stay at home mom and I've been trying to convert my family closer to a zero waste lifestyle :) The main thing to take from this is Zero waste should be mainly making use of the things you already have rather than consuming more. I've purchased a few things such as glass tupperware, but I've given our old tupperware to someone who can use them. Once my water bottle met it's lifespan I purchased a few glass water bottles to keep tap water in the fridge. Just replace as you go rather than going out and buying new just because. Bamboo toothbrushes are a great start because they're affordable and we have to replace our toothbrushes regularly every few months.
I'm 13 and my goal is to transition my family into reducing waste as much as possible. I'm also vegan and have turned my sister vegan and my friend vegetarian. I also want to try to make my mom go vegan again or at least vegetarian because she use to be a super hippy, vegan gal and I know she still has it in her heart. 🌍💓🤙
Love this, you are so inspiring. Your videos are super helpful for me being 16 and transitioning to zero waste. I truly appreciate what you contribute to the community.
I love these tips! I started to be more conscious about the waste I was creating in high school and it was due to people like you and videos like this! Thank you spreading the message in a friendly and easy way! You should do a house tour ( It looks beautiful from what I can see in the background) I'm interested in what you use on a daily basis and it would be an amazing way to share how easy it is to live simply and sustainably!
I agree, one of the best things you can do is talk to your parents about these things. I mentioned to my dad about a month ago that one of our grocery stores has a bottle return program for milk, and we have since made the switch to returnable bottles. :) Zero waste can be very frustrating if you only focus on the stuff you waste, but if you look at the people you have been able to impact through conversations and leading by example it is extremely rewarding! Thanks for another great video Immy!
I’m 16, and I’m starting my transition into zero waste and vegetarianism with my family. My dad is surprisingly receptive to it all, and has been supportive of my decisions. He’s even adjusted a few of his habits to be more diligent about recycling and using natural cleaning products! Thank you for your advice, your videos have been really helpful in making the transition :)
Thank you so much for making this! I'm 16 and really wanting to begin a less waste lifestyle, but I thought I might have to wait until I move out. I never thought of sone of these, so thank you for getting me started on my journey! As you said, I believe that my generation is the future, and this is the world that we have to talk care of.
Thank you so much for this video! I've been trying to prevent my family from shopping at fast fashion stores and have shown them some of your videos. Love you!
In all your videos I often deep you're so pure and honest about your feelings. It is so impressive to hear that. I often feel that in todays world everyone wants to show how strong and perfect they are. I get annoyed by that. It just really surprised me to hear your thoughts and charing other channels ect. in a way I can't tell. Please keep doing this.A girl from Germany
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I'm trying so so hard to convince my mom to help me cut down our waste output but now I can do it myself!! I love you so much much for this video!!
This is super helpful as I am 17 and live with my parents and am constantly looking for more ways to reduce my waste without clashing with them. You have inspired me to give up granola bars this year as my new years resolution and pack my own snacks in reusable containers instead.
I try to have mainly metal stationary because even 10 years later you will still need a ruler so getting something of quality is better than something temporary.
Thank you for making this video! I’m 17, and will be living at home for another 6-8 before heading to university. I’ve been eager to start trying to live less/zero waste but everyone’s tutorials or tips are things I can’t really control while living at home. ☺️
I really appreciate this video!! As a teen a lot of zero waste videos seem to recommend things that are out of my control since I live at home. Thank you!!
Very handy for adults too as I'm 26! I'm a lodger at present and so I do the best I can in the house / area I live in. Also this video is great for ZeroWaste Starters and for people wanting to explain what ZeroWaste is.
I'm so glad a zero waste blogger like you has acknowledged zero waste teens. I'm a no-spend vegan teenager and it can be really hard to be dependent on your parents. Love your videos, thank you for everything!
Oh my gosh! I am so grateful for this video. I just recently really delved into zero waste, but being seventeen and living at home it can be so frustrating! I make sure to present more sustainable options when grocery shopping. My mom is pescatarian and supports me in my vegan/minimal/zero waste/sustainable living journey (although she is a slave to convenience and consumerism). One thing that's really helped me is presenting them with the economic advantages of zero waste. Since they're the ones paying the bills, they are always open to things that reduce spending! I'd really love to see a video about all the economic advantages of zero waste. Thank you so much for your input and support in the zero waste community. It doesn't go unappreciated!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. I have so many ideas and aspirations for drastically reducing my carbon footprint, but unfortunately so many of these are things that I have no control over living at home. It's so frustrating, because pollution and careless waste makes me so angry, but I feel so powerless. So it's really refreshing and exciting to see a zero waste tips video directed at people like me.
DIY your own produce bags out of old or thrifted curtains (just to clarify those hole-y ones) DIY wax cloths to use instead of cling film from old tee any cloth and some wax Also you don't need to buy refillable bottle (you can tho) just use glass one for example after finishing some juice (or other beverage that comes in glass bottle in your country)
I just turn 13 and for the past couple months I've been a very interested in zero waste and I want to thank you because you're helping me live a better life style and everybody in my town says I can't do it but I can
A huge step forward for living with my family is we started a compost :-) and I'm saving up for a quality PC so I can go digitally for the most part, thank you for sharing these tips!
Ever since I was little my mom and I have been buying second hand. I also have a lot of younger cousins so they inherit my old clothes. I take very good care of my clothes so it lasts for years
I saw this video and I was so excited!!! I am going to be going to College soon and I want to thirst as much as I can for my dorm room. My mom was worried I would “scare” my dorm mate away but I think I finally convinced her. And she’s is joining me on making small zero waste changes such as steel straws, reusable bags and bamboo toothbrushes. I love everything about the zero waste movement and I try to the best I can with those around me. Some days are easier than others. But I love watching you videos because you’re so relatable that it feels like I can do it too. ❤️
This is so awesome! What college will you be going to? That's so fun. When I studied at U of M there were such great second hand and thrift shops in the town that I was able to get so much stuff second hand it was awesome! xx
Sustainably Vegan i’m going to Salem State University in Massachusetts. There are a few thrift store but they’re more for antiques then clothing and things. But there are a few in near by towns I will be able to go to. There isn’t any bulk store in salem or anywhere near the University which makes it a little rough but I and going to try my best. I love your videos and thank you for acknowledging me haha it’s a big deal to me and has made my day!
Im 17 It is so nice and actually feels amazing hearing the appreciation for us younger people that are interested in this and it is harder not being in control it feels like theres a lot you are helpless with and the process is a lot slower it is really nice to have a video like this trying to help us out thank you so much it makes me feel good about myself being passionate and loving looking into this lifestyle and everything behind it I will continue to slowly but surely improve in all different ways :)))
I have tried to start a zero waste life and I have researched too much but as a teenager it is very difficult since those who support me, in the economic way, are my parents. And I have tried to live this lifestyle with things that I can do, replace or even Buy, but I was going crazy. Then I found this video in the videos recommended for me and it has helped me a lot, thank you! Seriously! God bless you!
This is super dope and im all about positive change and your videos are super helpful! Im 15 and this is something Im really becoming aware of I got my mum to bring our own bags to the store and Its so rewarding knowing what im preventing
Thank you so much all of these videos are usually for adults that I can’t make my parents do. But this makes me happy and want to get more into less waste.
Wow love this video! I’ve been researching how to live a zero waste lifestyle for he past couple months and I love it! I have not yet seen one directed at teens, this is so helpful! Your channels such an inspiration.
I am 15 years old and I am studying your video in English class (I am French) and your video to me so much interest and passion to help open my eyes to the things I could do.
Love this video! I am 18, and my parents are such sticklers for their lifestyle rn! It’s so frustrating seeing all the things we could do, but they won’t. I have to change my tone when telling them about the zero waste lifestyle. This year I am not buying any new clothing! Wait, do you buy socks second hand? Great and relevant video. Thank you!
This had helped me so much!! I always felt as if I was failing with my zero waste living as my parents still produce waste but this has shown me that if I do my part then it's still helping
Love your videos!! 😍 I‘m always saying „when i move out, i finally could live the minimal and zerowaste lifestyle i want to live like“ but thats not the point! I can do so much for the enviorment for now ☺️ thank you xx
Also, hand me downs among family friends are helpful. A good shirt your cousin doesn't like anymore? she gives it to you and you give your dress to her little sister. That system has been working for years in my family. Thanks for this video, it was really helpful.❤
Ah I'm so glad this video exists! I'm 16 and started to attempt this lifestyle a month or two ago. I've tried convincing my mom to stop using plastic water bottles, but she won't listen to me because she says they're more convenient. I use my own stainless steel bottle, though. I never did like the taste of water in store-bought plastic bottles either way. Aside from that, these are very helpful! I'm waiting on a bamboo toothbrush to come in and I've been reusing things like plastic bags so I won't have to throw them away until things change in this house (my parents are tricky haha). But I'm trying my best to use as little waste as possible any way I can.
Just switched to steel straws, menstrual cups, reuse-able cottonpads, handkerchiefs and will soon transition to bamboo toothbrushes as soon my old one deteriorates. I also don’t buy plastic bottles but reuse the old bottles i have even though they are plastic they work. I sell my old academic books and buy books second hand as much as possible. There are no thrift shops in my area and sustainable fashion is out of my budget range so i buy clothes only if I absolutely need them. For stationery, I have enough stationery to last me years so I will continue using that until it finishes. To be honest these changes weren’t hard as I live in an area where we try to reuse everything but knowing that I am contributing to the betterment of the environment makes me happy.
Where i live big chains but even small businesses like bakeries promote reusable grocerie bags and my mum is very excited about this, and she is a person that only recycles plastic bottles for the matter. Yesterday she came home with her grocery bag full so excited and happy that she used her reusable bag, it was adorable
i asked my dad to stop buying plastic bags for fruit and now we always pack a few cotton bags for grocery shopping!! also i try to eat less meat in general and i'm working on cutting down on buying plastic packaged stuff (i.e using a menstrual cup instead of tampons or using a biodegradable toothbrush and refillable toothpaste). it's a step-by-step process but i can see progress being made!!
I live in a seven person family and I’m the second youngest kid, and I’m really passionate about this, so it’s always hard to try and make a difference in the household.
Great Video! I'm 13 years old and I'm trying to do my best with zero waste. Suprisingly my mum is really interested in zero waste too so it isn't that hard for me to change my lifestyle. Love your channel👍
Thank you so much for this video! I'm 17, from Germany and still live with my parents and my two brothers. One time I watched a documentary about plastic in the oceans and decided for myself that I didn't want to use liquid soap anymore. I told my mom and explained my reasons for this. And without even asking her, she stopped buying liquid soap and now we are all using bar soap instead! It's a small step but I'm so happy 🙈
You are so inspiring I am 14 years old and am really disgusted with all of the plastic that is damaging our world I am so ready to start this process and save the earth for our future generation 🌚
Great video. I have two secondary school age children and they are totally on board with me trying to reduce our families waste, they thrift pretty much everything they can but now they don't tell their friends as they turn their noses up about it. The one thing I find the most shocking is they are not being taught in school about the damage we are doing to the environment day to day, it should be second nature now for children to be recycling, reducing etc but it isn't. The school lunch is an environmental nightmare, loads of single use plastic and straws and just one or two recycling points but no-one telling the kids to actually do it.
Zero waste swaps I have made as a teen: 1)stainless steel bottle 2)metal straws 3)bamboo coffee cup 4)reusable make up pads 5)natural sponge and loofah 6)shampoo,contitioner and face wash bars 7)I use coconut oil as a body lotion and as a hair mask
Thank you so much for this video it was very much needed for me haah! I'm 14 and I've been obsessed with zero waste lately (my ytb recomendation is loaded w/eco-friendly vids). I live in a family and it's really hard to be zero waste when your family members don't really care.. But i'll do my best to convince them and live a more sustainable life. ❤️❤️❤️
I am actually in Middle School and I try to be as natural on a budget. Also I get my own food but they pay for it. And I make my own bags and we go to Aldi where you only bring reusable bags
Great video! You’re so right that if you make things easier for your folks you’ll have much more success ☺️ I’ve got one more tip...cook from scratch maybe once or twice a week for your parents and family (especially if they’re big on readymeals/convenience/pre-packaged food), even better if you use the first tip and go grocery shopping with them! You could even make it a fun challenge and ask them for a budget (depending on how many people you have to feed) to spend on groceries. So many things are easy, cheap and and fast to make with no single use plastic packaging (like vegan chilli and pasta bakes/dishes and big salads) especially if you do take along your own cloth bags to put dry goods and loose veg in. I’m in my mid 30s and although I don’t have kids, when I’m tired and hungry after a long day at work, it’s always beautiful when someone cooks for me with fresh ingredients 🙏🏼 A surefire way to your parents hearts I think is definitely through their stomachs 💕😄
such a lovely video :) I was just thinking about these things because i really want to get in to the lifestyle! This video was super helpful, my parents are really stubborn so i am trying my best. I thrift almost all my clothes (being in high school its really hard since people think only brand name clothes are cool and i dont have many thrift stores around) I try to teach my parents to recycle and i reuse most of my and my sisters old clothes.✨
Watch next: ULTIMATE GUIDE TO ZERO WASTE P.1: th-cam.com/video/Y2cAGWr7tts/w-d-xo.html
Sustainably Vegan already watched 😚😚 love your videos :)
Dont short sell older people. I have started the zero waste process and have made my own deordorant, laundry soap, soap, reduced aerosol cans, make my own cleaning products and am still continuing. I am 67 years old. Who stops learning?
Samar OT Vlogs greeting s to Mexico also! L
That’s awesome my grandma was like why would I care I’m going to die soon anyway and ideas to help her
@@BlahBlah-kb4wl She should care because she's leaving this Earth to her grandchildren and generations to come! :)
my 69 year old grandma just started experimenting and made a batch of eco-friendly laundry detergent (without me telling her about it!) so yeah I see Pinterest is good for her:)
Linda Shaw teach me your ways
I asked for no straw today and i bought a bamboo toothbrush a few days ago!!
rowan orre that’s actually an awesome tip
great job nina!
rowan orre that is pure genius.
@rowan orre But what about the bacteria collected in between the bristles?
That's really wonderful to hear
it's amazing how important steps like that are, good for you! x
i just ordered me some bamboo toothbrushes today with a gift card i got 😂😂!! im slowly transitioning to low waste
OH MY GOD BLAIR
Queen B
Tip for teenage girls: the earlier you get into using a menstrual cup the more disposable tampons and sanitary pads you'll save! And you'll save so much money too 😋
so true! very important stuff x
I've been looking into this for myself. but I'm nervous about it for if i have to change it while I'm at school or something and I'm germiphobe so idk.
Ahsera't Baldwin I think you can leave them in for up to like 8 hours??? I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think you’d have to change it at school.
Is that for people with a normal flow because I have some irregularities due to a medical condition.
I would.....but my sister tried it and she had to go to the gynecologist to have them reach into her vagina and pull it out 🙃
As a teen this is SO helpful I often struggle with these problems. I didn’t even know I needed this video omg 😂
Im so happy about this video!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! Im 14 and im so interested in zero waste!!! Love you!!!!!!!
Nina H me too!! But I’m 11 and want to help our environment because the children are the future!!
I'm 12 and i try tho reduce my waste as much as it is possible 🙌🏻 I live in a little city in Germany :D best wishes from here
I'm almost 14 and vegiterian striving to be vegan and really interested in the environment and reducing my waste because why would u want to ruin the planet
Do you guys have a Instagram?
Me too!!!
And don’t underestimate your parents. At 50 I’ve joined my son in becoming vegan and I’ve been moving towards zero waste for a couple of years. In the Summer I grow most of our food, I’ve got a bamboo toothbrush and a house full of secondhand furniture.
That is so wonderful to hear!!
And washable sanitary pads! OMG! Best thing I’ve switched to, even if the neighbours look hard at my washing line in the Summer. 😆
that's so amazing! good for you
Thats so amazing! My mom went vegan because of my fiance and I as well, we started growing our own food in the summer as well and we are slowly swapping things when they are finished!
You are an inspiration to so many people 💖
I am 13 and I am interested in this way of living and I am slowly transitioning.
this sounds amazing, keep it up and good luck!
Yes! I’m still living at home and I’m getting into this kind of stuff!
Same! I’m 13 and I started today!
So thankful for the zero waste TH-cam community
i can so relate- my parents are making steps towards being more zero waste & vegan and the youtube community is so amazing for sharing this info x
Kayla De Medeiros Aw no. I'm from Ottawa and the grocery store is called Nu Grocery.
Ah okay. :) Hopefully something like that comes to Toronto/the GTA.
I live outside of Ottawa. Nu grocery is amazing! You'll love it :)
Chloe good for you!!!! Sounds awesome! Wow!!
You're my hero !
I'm 45 yrs old and I need these tips!! Today I did ask for no straw! 😀. Love your videos❤️
This is awesome :)
that's brilliant
Thanks for sharing :)
possibly cardboard folders and binders? sturdier than paper and more sustainable than plastic
Great great great advice!!!! :)
Thank you I'm 11 and I would do almost anything to help the environment
You're incredible x
I’m 11 too! I’m really really really trying to do as much as I can to go Zero waste. It’s really hard when your parents don’t like shopping in bulk!
I live on my own with my fiancé but these really help me as a beginner 💕 love love love thrift shopping.
same
These tips are really helpful not just for living with parents!
I plan to start composting in the near future 😊 I'm 16 by the way
You are amazing x
sounds like such good steps
Omg Conan Gray!! He is amazing!!!
Nina H Ikr he is such a great and motivational person!
Omg I love him
Haha yeah he's my fav TH-camr! Was nice to see him mentioned in this video
Brio, Maria Granel, são alguns exemplos
great to hear, every step counts! xx
Plus I stopped buying shampoo, shower gel, pencils and notebooks, because my grandma likes to give me her old notebooks and send me shampoo for some reasons why 😅.
Thank you for this! I’ve been struggling so much with how to be zero waste in a family not up for the lifestyle. I will try a lot of these tips!
Thankyou SO much, this is really helpful as I'm 14 and trying to be zero waste. You are amazing!
Thank you so much!
I visited a zero waste shop for the first time in my city just a few days ago and bought a bamboo toothbrush :)
that's rad! i bought a bamboo toothbrush the other day too x
Love this, you are so inspiring. Your videos are super helpful for me being 16 and transitioning to zero waste. I truly appreciate what you contribute to the community.
Thank you soo mutch for doing this video! I'm 12 and try to live zero waste, and this video was very helpful❤
You should definitely try making your own granola bars :)
Thank you very much for this video. I live with my parents and it is very hard change the way of live they(we) are living. You are a big inspiration!
I really appreciate this video!! As a teen a lot of zero waste videos seem to recommend things that are out of my control since I live at home. Thank you!!
So glad it was helpful!!
Thank you so much!!! I’m just starting to research zero waste lifestyle and although not a teen found it really helpful
Wow Maya you're amazing! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, it sounds like you have a really great thing going :)
Thank you so much for this video!!! Its nos very easy to change a life style when you still live with your parents.
DIY your own produce bags out of old or thrifted curtains (just to clarify those hole-y ones)
DIY wax cloths to use instead of cling film from old tee any cloth and some wax
Also you don't need to buy refillable bottle (you can tho) just use glass one for example after finishing some juice (or other beverage that comes in glass bottle in your country)
I just turn 13 and for the past couple months I've been a very interested in zero waste and I want to thank you because you're helping me live a better life style and everybody in my town says I can't do it but I can
A huge step forward for living with my family is we started a compost :-) and I'm saving up for a quality PC so I can go digitally for the most part, thank you for sharing these tips!
wow that's great, so happy for you x
So so glad it's helpful x
I am 15 years old and I am studying your video in English class (I am French) and your video to me so much interest and passion to help open my eyes to the things I could do.
OMG I totally needed this video! I am not allowed to compost in my home so it is really helpful to have tips besides composting
So helpful ! Just what I needed
First teen zero waste vidéo I see and I love it ! Big love from the Québec ❤️
Hey! I loved the video. As a 15 year-old teen interested in zero waste, your tips are really useful. Thanks:)
My daughters are preteens, 10 and 7, and love watching you and are totally on board with your message already. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
aw amazing !! you're a wonderful parent for introducing these ideals to them so young :)
Yesterday she came home with her grocery bag full so excited and happy that she used her reusable bag, it was adorable
amazing !!!
i asked my dad to stop buying plastic bags for fruit and now we always pack a few cotton bags for grocery shopping!! also i try to eat less meat in general and i'm working on cutting down on buying plastic packaged stuff (i.e using a menstrual cup instead of tampons or using a biodegradable toothbrush and refillable toothpaste). it's a step-by-step process but i can see progress being made!!
These are really good tips, my parents have already started making big changes to our lifestyle from videos like these. Thank you
I live in a seven person family and I’m the second youngest kid, and I’m really passionate about this, so it’s always hard to try and make a difference in the household.
Thank you so much! My friend and I just started this a few months ago and this is a super helpful video!
Zero waste swaps I have made as a teen:
1)stainless steel bottle
2)metal straws
3)bamboo coffee cup
4)reusable make up pads
5)natural sponge and loofah
6)shampoo,contitioner and face wash bars
7)I use coconut oil as a body lotion and as a hair mask
Such great ideas! Definitely going to look into Mujis refillable pens, I’ve been looking for something like that!
Hi!! I'm 13 and I wanyed to ask you to do a explinatory video about the use of water (like washing dishes, close, etc...)
Love from Chile!💕
I am actually in Middle School and I try to be as natural on a budget. Also I get my own food but they pay for it. And I make my own bags and we go to Aldi where you only bring reusable bags
These are also applicable if have a roommate or significant other that you share a living space with.
I am 14 and slowly switching to a low waste & vegan lifestyle. This video helped, Thankyou 🖤
