- Hey everyone,
I hope this video finds you well!
I've been chomping at the bit to see this watch from the moment it was announced in early July....I didn't think I'd be able to get my hands on it so soon. Nor did I expect it to be SO good in the metal!
You are infinitely valuable:

Thanks again and I'll talk to you all very soon!

I have an original 62mas 8001, SLA017 and now the SJE093. I love them all. My SJE093 thus far has been +2 sec / day for all those worried about accuracy. The SJE093 although similar in measured size to the original appears smaller. Its definetly slimmer and lighter than the SLA017. The finish is on par with the SLA017. The lume dot at 3pm is genius as it is not very noticable unless you're looking for it.
Beautiful piece Sanjay! Congratulations!
Thank you very much, Juan 🙂
Congratulations! Definitely a keeper! ❤
Congrats Sanjay on getting this SJE093
Congrats man - I’m really glad you got this watch
Thanks so much, Marcus! (I'm not entirely sure if you're being sarcastic 🤣)
@@engineer_wannabe no I’m legit happy you got it and not another Tudor 🤣
wonderful watch
Wow that was quick! I want this one an intense amount.
Stunning watch, this has got in the way of my purchase of a Tudor GMT.
The thinking man's choice for sure over the bb54.
It's crazy, Seiko got it right the first time
Congratulations Sanjay ! God Bless 🙏
Price ?
God Bless you too, JJ! This retails at $4725 CAD
Beautiful pick up, Sanjay! One and done Seiko diver there. Wear it it hood health!
Yes sir! That's the plan 😉
Sanjay, thanks for the short concise unboxing view. My wrist is only slightly larger 6 and 1/2 and ironically I've been looking at the planet ocean you have as well as the Seiko. Question, when you get a chance to assess the loom on it, perhaps you could forward that to us. I'm assuming it'll be pretty good because after all it's a sake. Oh. Great to watch dive collection error. I'm jealous brother
Congrats on the pickup, that was super fast! Looks epic Sir, cheers!
On a side note, as an SLA017 owner, I personally don't have any problems with this release and no other SLA017 owners have directly expressed any issues I've heard of either. I'm looking forward to the possibility of a future 6L powered 6105-8000 premium Slim-Turtle reissue.
@@AverageBros I think a 6L 6105-8000 (faithful to the original) would be my ultimate grail watch. My 317 is incredible, but having owned SJE and SLA Seiko's, I KNOW an SJE version of the 6105-8000 would be just next level.
Hey thanks so much, Mark!
I'm glad you don't have the same reservations that I heard from a couple of friends
A 6L powered slim turtle would be great to see!
Congrats Sanjay!
Thanks so much, my friend!
Gorgeous watch! Big time congrats on the pick up. I'm not jealous at all 😉
Haha I have a feeling that we'll be watch bros soon 😁
First unboxing of this grail, congrats!
Thank you very much!
Very nice! Both of them
Good looking watch.
Love your content and collection, buddy!
You're too kind. Thank you!
Congratulations! Can you make more videos of this watch? This is the only one in the wild so far. Maybe juat point the camera at it so we can stair at the dial for a while? :)
How does the crown threading feel when screwing the crown back in?
that is very nice, the buckle is a nice bit of detail.
Nice looking diver re-issue! Enjoy.
Great unboxing, you have a very authentic style Sanjay, as well as great taste in watches. That Grand Seiko you are looking for - its the SBGK007....
You're too kind, thank you my friend!
Haha the SBGK009 has been on my radar for a while as well!
Need one of those for the watch box. Great content ! T u man !
Thanks so much for watching!
Just as beautiful as a Vostok !!!
Thanks for the video. 😊
that strap on a tiny wrist had me lmao
Tell me about it....lol
Perhaps when you hopefully do a full review you would critically assess the 6L movement, which to me is the big question mark with this model.
Absolutely! If it's running poorly, I will address it.
I've had the pleasure of owning a 6L35 on 2 other occasions and haven't had any concerns
I think a lot of people are confused about the 6L movement. Its nothing like the 6R movements (nothing at all alike whatsoever). In fact the 6L movements were made to compete with Swiss movements like the ETA2892 directly. Its a very nice movement. I still enjoy the 8L series movements a bit more, but the 6L movements are excellent and they are thinner.
In fact (I should probably look into this more before commenting) I'm pretty sure this is the same design (updated actually) that they sold/partnered with Soprod originally when Soprod claimed to have an "in-house" movement.
Wow, what a beauty! What strap do you intend to use with this? I'd love to see it on a timegrapher once it's broken in. Thanks for your videos!
I have it on a Sailcloth strap now. Looks and feels great!
I don't have a timegrapher, but I'll see what I can do 👍
@@engineer_wannabe Nice! Does the Sailcloth strap have black stitching or a contrasting colour? What brand(s) of Sailcloth strap do you prefer?
I could see this becoming the most desirable Seiko ever… maybe ever.
boy you must be a gen z
@@bent540what’s your opinion on the most desirable boomer?
You and I share wrist sizes. Whatever you can wear, I can. Glad the SJE093 fits you as that's one I'd like to get next. My concern was that the end of the strap would protrude too much, but I see that doesn't.
excellent!
Wow. Looks great. But, how does you get one so fast?! Though these aren't being released till sometime next month (Aug).
My AD happened to get a couple in a bit early 🙂
@@engineer_wannabe So lucky. Congrats again. It's a fine watch. One of my good friends had pre-ordered one and hopefully he should be hearing from AD by or before the end of August 2023. And, I told him if by some chance he didn't connect with the watch and didn't think it was worth it, I'd be happy to take his place on his pre-order and relieve them of that responsibility. Lol
I'd love to get a 42mm version of this. I wonder how the Seiko Tropic strap compares to the original brand Tropic and the Nivada Grenchen Tropic.
you like clocks on your wrist eh
@@eviola11 my wrist is 8 inches
Yup. 41mm minimum for my 7.5 inches wrist😅
Can you put this side by side with the 54?
I love it even though it's so much for a seiko. They really need to step up the packaging at least my 2750 USD Longines had an amazing box in comparison to this and I got a Longines pen that is near a Mont Blanc in its quality. Granted when I went to the AD for another watch I asked for another Longines pen and they told me they only get a few and it's not an item that is guaranteed with the purchase.
Looks great!
It is great! You need one 😉
@@engineer_wannabeBelieve me I would love it.
Hey Sanjay, thanks for sharing the unboxing. Did it come with the Grand Seiko type outer cardboard sleeve? I have a tendency to be very particular. 😂
Hey there,
Yes it does come with a cardboard sleeve 😉👍
@@engineer_wannabe Love it! Thanks Sanjay. Eagerly waiting for mine now....and btw I do think you may very well be the first person to get this.
Minutemon's review was a sample non functional unit a sit was ticking.
Great video as always. Despite the niggles mentioned I like it...BUT come on Seiko, this is a small watch with a LONG strap is for an 8" wrist. Would it be that hard (or costly) to have included 2 long + 2 short tropic strap pieces for that price. I don't know of any high quality SHORT vintage tropic that comes in 19mm (Meraud makes a great short 20mm). What strap are you planning to put it on Sanjay??
Agreed!
I have it on an Artem sailcloth. Squeezed a short 20mm version and it fit well 👍
@@engineer_wannabe Beautiful watch Congratulations. I love Artem have several of their straps the loop less version I find more comfortable than their standard strap.
Hope they make a black and gilt dial version with the same measurements.
Nice pickup Sanjay..that is absolutely PERFECT for your wrist size. well done mate
Hello Peter
Thanks so much, Peter! It really does work well on my tiny wrist haha.
Got it on an Artem now and it's even better!
Hope you're keeping very well, my friend!
@@engineer_wannabe very envious, amazing to see you got it so quickly..well done
@@juniorjohnson5961 hey brother..👍
Nice review 👍
I like my SRP777!No frills and affordable! My friends older brothers didnt wear luxury watches in the Jungle!
Nice watch. You need a better caliper than the plastic one though.
Which product was better compared to SLA037? SLA037VS SJE039
Nice video
Man if i had the money( i think they went crazy on the price) i would buy it....periode. sanjay, would you give it to me? as a french from PARIS fan?
My favorite size among all variations (re... whatever) so far.
It's so good!!
Physically it is a no brainer. Looks good (as it always had). More interested to know how the movement does. Can you update with timing accuracy over time?
I posted a follow up video and addressed the accuracy concerns 🙂
Mine is running at +1spd and I'm thrilled!
@@engineer_wannabe baddabingus, winner chix dinner.
Seiko finally got the thickness right. I held off buying the SLA017 because it was too thick at 14.1mm.
SLA017 had that great movement though
I have the SLA037, it’s even thicker 🥲. The SJE093 seems to have the perfect dimensions… would anyone happen to know if it has a replaceable crown tube?
It's beautiful! May I know how visually intrusive is the lume dot at 3 o’clock in real life?
There is no lume pip at 3 o'clock (Thankfully!!)
Sorry, there is a lume pip at 3. It is well implemented and barely noticeable 👍
How is this out already? My AD told me Aug 31st😂
If you have access to the SLA017 bracelet, would appreciate it if you could confirm whether it fits the SJE093. Thanks and congrats! 😁
Thanks so much and yes, will do!🙂
Looking forward to more of your videos about this watch. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Fast 👍Sorry but difficult see the pricetag, must see in person.
Have lot fun with the watch 🎉
Thank you very much!
Would you be able to measure the length of the strap for me? I'm trying to decide if I also need a replacement strap once I get the watch. Thanks in advance and congrats!
Thanks!
Sorry for the delay, just got around to it.
The long side is 140mm
Buckle side is 75mm
Hope that helps! 👍
@@engineer_wannabe Thanks for taking the time! It does help.
Hey, random question. Thoughts about the slgh009?
One of my favourite Grand Seikos of all time! I love this specific configuration (44GS style case, 9SA5 movement, everbrilliant steel, textured dial etc)
Is there a lume marker at the 3 o'clock? They had to add one to later SPB143 to conform to standards.
Yes there is, but it's really cool. I put out a lume shot on TH-cam shorts if you want to see
@@engineer_wannabe ah yes just watched it. Wish they'd used that solution for the 143. Yours is a beautiful watch!
Hopefully they make the change on all future watches 👍
Congratulations. Jesus bless.
Thank you, my friend!
Please compare with #spb143
which is similar
Congratulations on getting this watch. I feel that this is what the SLA017 should have been, maybe with the better 8L movement. As an SLA017 owner I feel a bit cheated.
Thanks so much. The 6L is a very good movement, so I'm satisfied👍
I'm sorry you feel cheated. The SLA017 is still a fantastic watch!
@@engineer_wannabe Maybe cheated is a bit strong. I'd be interested to hear how the accuracy of the 6L is. My SLA017 is pretty good, about +-2 sec/day.
@bushpig6837 I totally understand your sentiment though. Seiko has kinda made the SLA017 a little less special than it used to be...
Mine has gained 6 seconds in the 4 days that I've been wearing it 👍
@@engineer_wannabe That's awesome accuracy.
You should be able to trade your 017 for this easily if you really want it.
Fancy but too fancy 😅
Dude you really have glass wrists,on my 8.5 inch wrist even my MM300 doesn't look so big. What's the price!!
How did you get it so fast?
I checked in with my AD almost every single day 🤣
Excuse me, “while I sneak” in a dope new watch. Don’t mind the family.
Haha I meant that I snuck away to record an unboxing video 🤣
How much is it $?
Way too small given the sbdc101 with 40.5mm wears on my wrist like a 38.5mm at best compact 39mm. Yes, it's a bit thick but the quite short l2l compensate. Would like to see with the L movement a 39mm at least (the 62 mas do wear smaller) and a wider bezel, same as the sbdc101. On this one, even at 37mm the bezel is very slim for me. I'll be keeping an eye on this for update regarding time keeping. Not at all pleased with anything I have from them apart from the GS spring drive 600m. The sbdc101 from day one gave me a solid +20 sec @ 24h and despite the fact that it can be easily regulated, am not at all happy opening new watches for that.....At the end of the day, yes Seiko makes very good watches, but for the price we pay, QC and bracelets/clasps are issues they need to address ASAP. Thanks for the unboxing Sanjay, stay safe.
Hey Matthew, great to hear from you again!
The 6L37 on mine is keeping great time at about +1.5spd
Hope you are well, my friend!
Take care
-Sanjay
@@engineer_wannabe maybe it's my luck lol, bad time keeping with the recent 3 I bought. The sbdc053 had mainspring issues, replaced it and regulated. Thankfully, it's running at -1.5 s.@24h. Not moving a lot so that might be the reason. The 143/297 (with the supposedly upgraded 6r35) at +20 s @24h. No issues with GS but he'll, I paid for a Seiko $12k and at the end of the day it still a Seiko....You getting that accuracy is awesome but even if I ignore the slim bezel, 37mm for an 62mas case is way too small. Wish I could send you wrist shots, the 40.5 looks small.....
Take care of your self Sanjay:)
Guess they didn't really keep to the price of the original one, outch... 😢
Yeah...it really is a bit steep 😔
Back in 2015 , seiko should have made a 40mm version , with a 6r15 movement, with bracelet and strap, looking exactly like the sla017 and this new version, and priced it at 1k . They could have made the higher quality sla versions for people with deeper pockets. Had seiko done this, then i believe it would have been the best diver for the masses ever produced !!! Everybody seems to love this design , so to me , they missed a really great opportunity to get it right . Even now 8 years later seiko are only producing this design faithfully on the high end sla models. They could of rivalled tudor , at a 3rd of the cost of the black bay , or even rolex at an 8th of the cost of a submariner. Seiko could have made a great automatic diver that everyone loved, and could actually obtain , without spending silly money.
Even now they are playing games , giving a smaller 38mm size , thinner case but no bracelet option ? With a strap thats way too long for a person who would buy this new smaller version.
Well said!
Seiko did kinda do this in 2020 with the SPB143 and its variants. Those watches seem to never be in stock for long
If only they had hired you for CEO.....l
@@engineer_wannabe the 143 was just another 62mas wannabe, that replaced the spb051. Although popular because of its size, it could have so much nearer the original design , that seiko fans wanted. Thats why companies like san martin and others , etc did so well, because they reproduced the design essence of the original 62 mas. Seiko could have easily done this and cleaned up !!!
@@AcmeRocket , I could have done a better job to be fair. I would have brought out a new pogue, as well . Lol if only .....
@@martinharrison4245 Yes, considering all of your experience running one of the largest watch brands in the world, coupled with your obvious mastery of Japanese language and culture, there would have been no better candidate.,
ever brilliant steel?
Do we know anything more about it?
Precious because you have been purchased with the blood of Jesus. You need to know this Sanjay.
Lol wut
@@willywampa9022 John 3:17 says, “God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” By sacrificing himself for us on the cross, he took the punishment for all of our sins at once.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Yes sir, I know it 🙂
Because He is an infinite being and sacrificed himself for us, we are of infinite value to Him
Seiko movements are often below par in terms of accuracy unless it's a GS...
Agreed, however, I've always had great experience with "L" movements
I do love the Solar powered timepieces from Seiko. overall, Citizen Eco Drive with +/- 1 or 5 s per year is the REAL deal!
Looked up the price and it gave me a heart attack
😅😅
Lmao that strap
Haha tell me about it 🤣
Very nice watch, but the 19mm lug width is just plain stupid.
Haha it's a pain, but not a huge deal for me 🙂
So basically just like any other Seiko, the bracelet or strap can go straight in the garbage.
🤣 **back in the box and be forgotten about**
Nice watch. But we don’t need to see the opening of the box……
It's an unboxing LOL
Too expensive for 6L movement.. T.T
Premium packaging experience?? Ummmmm...
too much $
A 6 series mov’t for $3500? Pass.
You should consider it an "L" series movement. SO much better than the "R" movements 🙂
You're gonna need a bigger wrist.
That strap is horrible.
Got it on a Sailcloth as soon as I could haha
Seiko really is testing the lmits of what seiko enthusiants are willing to accept, such a half ass money grab release with that movement. They are slowly killing the own brand.
Had it been a 6R movement, I would agree more with the sentiment, but the 6L movements are completely different. It's like thinking the 4L found in some Credor models is similar or the same as 4R movements found in Seiko 5s.
lol, THAT PRICE TAG!!!! you guys are aware of the other watches you can get for same money right!? and it sure as shit doesnt say seiko on those!
Haha some of us crazy guys are looking for a "no compromise" Seiko and are willing to pay up😅
@@engineer_wannabe get the snowflake! you know that everything you buy is just to compensate.
To be honest can't understand that watch, I know the history, but if you forget that just a moment I cannot see enough reasons for that price. Especially when you can get Seiko SPB143 for half that price
Having owned the SPB149, I can attest to the fact that the SJE093 has far superior fit and finish.
Definitely not enough to justify the premium for everyone. But there are a few of us looking for a "no compromise" Seiko 🙂
Expensive for 6L.
