Os meus outros cachorros nem ligavam para as plantas mas agora acabo sempre por me enfiar num lugar mais escondido dela onde não tem tanta luz. I normally do not like bromeliads because their flower spikes are so similar looking, just with different colors, but that one has a beautiful contrast to the leaves of the plant! Love the look of the cymbidiums in those old cooking pots! Nice! It was therapeutic to watch you handle the root systems 😎💆🏼♀ hope you are already having a cozy evening, amiga mia! a little over 4 weeks to go and the daylight hours increase again 🙌🏼🤸🏼♀🥳
Hi dear Nina, this is indeed a gorgeous spike and with the advantage of beeing a species. I had never seen it for sale and did not know how beautiful the blooms were. I got it from my niece. She has a small yard and she was not happy with it because it was filling up the place. So, I brought a piece with me and I was in awe when a fat pink bud came out a few months later. It will be nice when all the crowns bloom at the same time, hopefully. Indeed it grows very fast but I love it. I love the Bromeliads because they are a pop of color most of the year and give me no trouble at all. I don't even have to worry if they have roots or not heheheheheh. Oh my favorite subject!! Your Cymbidiums… yay!!! The second one, the color is heavenly and it was a calming repot for me. The ones on the ground are doing well too. You are a wizard when it comes to cymbidiums. And even though there are no flowers the leaves look very yummy in the Hoya right? 😍 Oh I’m glad you showed some angles of the garden. ♥️💯
Thank you so much for your kindness. I wish!! At the moment my Cymbidium are not nearly what they were a few years ago when I used to have 12 spikes and more. Ever since I divided the largest ones they never went back to the same and I even lost a few favourites. But, as long as they continue to bloom I am happy. You are right, Hoyas don't need flowers to be beautiful. The glow for the beauty of their leaves. I don't have more only because of lack of space for every plant I like 😄 Much love with million hugs 🤗🥰😍

Hi Denise, winter is so sad. In my area everything looks better because it never gets to freezing, unlike other parts of my country. My only complaint is about my summers beeing cooler than my Cattleyas would like 😬 About winter I hate the short days, getting dark so early. The lack of light drains my energy dramatically 😂 But soon, days will start to get longer and soon you will have your warmer weather back. Olá querida Josefina, bom domingo!!!! Pois foi, passei rápido pelos catos de outubro, só depois é que reparei. Quanto aos videos, agora ando a fazer menos. Muito obrigada pelo seu cuidado 🤗 Antes fazia entre 1 e 2 por semana mas agora tenho menos tempo e ás vezes menos disposição. A vinda da Iris tirou-me muito tempo. Antes, tinha sempre dois cães, um mais velho e outro mais jovem e eles entretinham-se um com o outro. Mas quando morreu o Rufus ficamos só com a Fénix que era muito sossegada e dada a nossa idade pensávamos que ela seria a ultima. Mas depois ela morreu mais cedo do que esperávamos e a casa ficou tão triste e vazia, tivemos que ir buscar esta menina. Ela tem sido difícil, é muito vivaça e precisa de muita atenção. Já está mais calma mas mesmo assim tenho de andar sempre de olho nela o que não me deixa render o tempo. Ela é adorável e brincar com ela é um prazer. Beijinhos e bom domingo para si.

Quero ter um tempinho para nós sair de férias sem a preocupação dos animais...chega a uma idade que a gente tem que refletir e pensar um pouco em nós... sempre que vejo um gatinho me dá vontade de trazer para casa😅 . Hi Troy, it really is always hard to resist 😛 There are so many nice orchids to tempt us. My strategy is not going to nurseries any more and I don't visit orchid sites 🤣
So many cymbidium flowers already! Im shipping what's left.of mine to the azores, aadly we wont have room for them anymore. My aunt grows them on the ground just like you, and they love it!
@@PetalsSepalsandSpines You are making your aunt very happy for sure. Mine took some time to adapt to the ground but they are getting better. I am sure they would do even better if my summers were a.bit less humid and a bit warmer. A few years back I had 12 and more spikes on each plant and it happened when September and October were drier and warm. But I am happy with what I've got, a few is better than none. I am curious to see your new set up and to know all about your new environment. Moving to a new house is a lot of work but always so exciting 😃😘😘
Your Thanksgiving cacti are lovely. The white flowered one is really nice. That's unfortunate about your ground Cymbidium blooms. Bugs can be quite annoying. Your new Cymbidium are very pretty. I love the peach colored one🤩🤩. Great footage on the carnosa flower... Iris is so pretty! She has such a cute face.😊
@@annavoeggia816 Hi Anna... Thank you so much for your kind words. I don't have as many snails as I used to have because I have been chasing them and they are huge. My neighbour eats them and so I throw them to her property which is a blessing for me considering how huge they are. I would hate to kill them. But the slugs are hard to find and poor things nobody wants them. There must be lots of insects around because I see dozens of birds having their breakfast on the bare branches of the Magnólia tree.Which is good, insects are very important in the food chain and for pollination. So, despite the damage on the Cymbidium flowers I am glad my garden is shelter for them. Íris is a naughty girl but I love her. Se calhar não florescem tanto por falta de frio, nós últimos anos a temperatura têm estado mais amena e como diz que vive num micro clima esse fator pode ser ainda mais saliente, será? Nós meus eu tenho tido a experiência de que os que têm a raiz mais apertada são os que florescem mais, mas na verdade este último ano não foi o mais surpreendente. Beijinhos e boa continuação ❤️
@@marlivieira3722 Também pensei nisso, aqui os dias de verão são frescos mas as noites têm sido mais quentes. Isto em relação ao passado. Mesmo assim estão melhores que no ano passado mas possivelmente porque entretanto se estão a adaptar ao chão. Dizem que eles florescem melhor em vasos apertados mas eu sempre os tive em vasos amplos. A diferença é que eu antigamente colocava no substrato folhas secas de uma conífera que aqui tinha mas depois ela adoeceu e depois nunca mais o fiz. Pergunto a mim própria se se deveu a isso 🤔

Hello. I watched your fertilizing video. Question. You mentioned that on the 1st of the month you flush your orchids with cal-mag and on the 15th of every month, you give an epsom salt flush. You do this for your cymbidiums? Do you worry about over watering your cymbidiums? Thank you. I love your videos. Your home and garden are so beautiful. I don't know how you do it.😊
@@christellough3401 Hi Christel, thank you so much for your kind words 🙏 I don't flush my Cymbidium at all because they have a different type of médium. Cymbidium are related with terrestrial orchids and their médium is different from epiphytic orchids. They still need a well drained médium but more similar to terrestrials. And yes, I don't want to over water my Cymbidium. They need ample watering during summer but all depends on the temperatures. They still need to dry slightly in between waterings and in doubt I prefer to keep them drier than water logged. I fertilize them with slow release pellets and I suplement with calcium and calmag. Hello. I watched your fertilizing video. Question. You mentioned that on the 1st of the month you flush your orchids with cal-mag and on the 15th of every month, you give an epsom salt flush. You do this for your cymbidiums? Do you worry about over watering your cymbidiums? Thank you. I love your videos. Your home and garden are so beautiful. I don't know how you do it.😊
@@christellough3401 Hi Christel, thank you so much for your kind words 🙏 I don't flush my Cymbidium at all because they have a different type of médium. Cymbidium are related with terrestrial orchids and their médium is different from epiphytic orchids. They still need a well drained médium but more similar to terrestrials. And yes, I don't want to over water my Cymbidium. They need ample watering during summer but all depends on the temperatures. They still need to dry slightly in between waterings and in doubt I prefer to keep them drier than water logged. I fertilize them with slow release pellets and I suplement with calcium and calmag.
