  • This video shows how to avoid some of the problems associated with Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer (BSD). I also show how to get your money's wort out of it as well. It truly is a versatile product that I highly recommend. Not many negatives to mention about this one.

    Advice from the German community: mix it 1:1 with distilled water. Same performance, little less endurance but better buff of.

      Really we can use a 50% water and 50% product and the result is good? Good shine? Good reapalant ? More easy to buff ?

    This BSD blew my mind when I first used it few years back in terms of gloss and durability. Used it purely as a drying aid and it never streaked. Only reason I stopped using it was because of the neverending flow of new products! Great reminder of what I have sitting dormant in my cupboard. Only thing I didn't really like was that it lacked slickness that other products had.

    I usually do my waterless clean on my ceramic-coated car with Meg's UQD but I ran out of it yesterday eveniing and used BSD. as I had some laying around. I does lubricate a lot less than UQD which means application was not the easiest. The "glide" feeling (when you let your fingers run over the uber-smooth, cleaned surface) once the job is a lot less present too. It is very viscous for sure., I didn't think about diluting it maybe that would have helped. Thanks for sharing some of your tips.

    Loving to see some new content showcasing BSD's outstanding qualities. Sonax keeps it honest price-wise, even after so many years of being such a popular product. Unless the car is really dirty, I just power wash it and use BSD as a drying aid. The foundation sealant I have down is Fusso Coat and both products work super well together. I love seeing the beading and crazy sheeting when the car is in movement. It works great on glass/windshield and wheels too. Better still, you can buy it online in the UK for under £7 from Euro Car Parts. Great job, Brian!

    • @JWL-UK
      @JWL-UK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hdmuzzillo it works as a sacrificial layer to prolong the life of Fusso Coat. They chemically match very well so you get the same water behaviour for longer. Bear in mind I don't use soap at all. I just spray APC (Surfex HD), rinse and use BSD diluted for my contact rinseless wash process for its cleaning ability. If use use the 2 bucket method, I'd suggest using BSD once very 2 or 3 months over Fusso Coat.

    I really do like BSD and I think, as you highlighted when used as a drying aid or even when spread with a damp cloth it's the perfect all round QD. Using it this way I get no issues with application and the protection is 2+ months with great hydrophobicity.
    My only issue is the rinseless wash method. For me I wouldn't go near anything other than light dust with BSD, even diluted like this. It just doesn't have enough lubricity for me and used on that amount of dirt I personally don't believe it would clean the paint safely. Only my thoughts Brian and not saying I am right.

      @@apexdetail85 Brian! Great video demo of the Sonax BSD! I used the Sonax Spray and Seal on my next door neighbors silver Camry! I did a basic strip wash, no claying and applied the Sonax Spray and Seal and damn if it didn't get great beading and a really nice slick gloss on the Camry! I used my little "Metrovac blaster sidekick" and the water sheeted and blew off effortlessly in a very short time! I was really impressed with the Sonax Spray and Seal! I've heard that the Spray and Seal can last anywhere from 1-2 months and if you layer it everytime you wash it will obviously longer and extend the shine and gloss! What's your take on how the Sonax Spray and Seal stacks up against the BSD! :-)
      Hey I went by autozone today and picked up a box of the "Astro Grip" 7mil nitrile gloves and they are a very high quality nitrile glove and have the texture surface which is nice to have! These gloves are made by "SAS" safety corporation which is a big industrial supply company! Thanks for the recommendation! They are a tad pricey at $19 for the box of 100 but they are a very high quality glove that you immediately notice and feel when you put them on! I like the bright orange! :-) These are standard inventory for all the Autozones!

    I like your video. In the end i think you make waterless wash, not rinsless wash. In the dillution rate 3 to 1 with water would it better to add in 1 liter bottle spray and 20ml ONR or Ech2o for more lubrication?
    Thank you for your time

    Hi Brian @Apex Detail. I've use it on the interior and inner glass in few occasions with no problems (for protection purpouses uv/etc.). Have you use it in that manner? Is is interior safe or i am doing it wrong?

    So Brian right now my SUV has been coated a few times with Mother's cmx ceramic coating. Applying BSD as a gloss enhancer would that affect or remove some of the protection that the cmx affords?? Thanks!

    2 questions :
    1) Can it be topped over polymer based wax (not sealant or Carnauba wax) ?
    2) Can it be topped with a silicon based shiner to get extra gloss without affecting water beading capabilities ?

    great video @Apex Detail. so, what would you suggest the best underlying base protection for BSD? sealants would be better option but are there some waxes that work great with it ???
    and how often to use the BSD, just in case not to overdo it????

    • @SnakeDoctor5104
      @SnakeDoctor5104 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sonax Polymer Net Shield would be your base layer/sealant. BSD would be used to maintain it, as they have the same chemistry and amazing hydrophobics.

    Great video as I have been thinking of trying BSD. One question: I have wax on the car at the moment. If I use BSD for a few months, then want to wax again, am i going to need to polish the car first with, say, Perfect Polish, or could I wax over it?

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would skip the wax and re coat with BSD. Will save you work and keep the characteristics of the BSD as well. You would need a cleaner polish to remove the wax...or strong body solvent.
