    I always have a bottle of BSD on hand. I also have a bottle of BSD cut 1:1 with water which is slightly more user friendly for me. I use the cut one for a detail spray. Full strength I use BSD as a sealant because of exactly what you mentioned.....THE BEADS! I also have the Sonax spray sealant that you spray on and immediately spray off with water. Works exactly like the other ones in that field. I really like Sonax products. I started using them years ago before they ever even came to the USA. My wife worked in Germany quite a bit and I would always leave extra room in my suitcase and transport back as much of their detailing products as I could each trip when I travelled over there with her. A Major in the German Army turned me onto Sonax as he knew I loved detailing my vehicles. I personally do not like sheeting products although there is "THAT" whole argument but I still love my beading! Another set of products that bead like crazy is Polishangel. I absolutely LOVE their entire line of stuff (which I do have about 50% of their entire line up) but don't like their prices which are off the charts! With Polishangel, "if you know...you know".

    BSD is simply awesome on the beading and I can see the snow foam struggle to ‘grip’ the panel sometimes such is it’s power. It’s a bit of a faff to put on but I’m going to try your approach of using little per panel. I suspect the issues I sometimes have of streaking are down to me using too much product. One area where they really need to move their game on is the quality of the sprayer, I’ve found it average at best and have actually transferred it to another spray bottle for better control. Overall BSD is one to have in your kit, especially through the winter months. All the best Jon and keep the content flowingxx

    I still keep on buying BSD. It's more of a sealent rather then a detail spray. Crazy water behaviour and it has a decent durability as well. Cheap also. I now have a layer of Polymer Netshield on my car which I in autumn and winter will maintain with BSD. In summer I use the Gyeon Quick Detailer as a sacrificial layer. Works really well for me.

      @@amyk9813 Most of the gloss will be achieved from polishing your car and after that maintaining your work. BSD and Polymer Netshield are more about protection but will deliver some gloss. In my opinion the Gyeon Quick Detailer will certainly deliver extra gloss. Jon did a video about it once with some measurements behind it. The Gyeon and another brand scored really good on extra gloss. Can't remember the other brand😕

What I noticed with some stronger sealants, they are not slick in the beginning, after some cure time they slicking up. Actually.. I know it's a little hussle to use BSD. But the bottle that Turtle Wax has for their new series of hybrid solutions like the glass cleaner. You can get a quite decent price of. I mixed BSD and destilled water 50/50 if I would apply directly on the paint. Otherwise I spray it on to a microfiber towel as with the Ceramic Coating you did. The fine mist spray bottle just makes it so much easier to use it. Especially when you just want to maintain the hydrophobic propeties of it. I have even tested to dilute it down to 1:5 with a good outcome. BSD is a strong product for what it is. Saw even that Apex Detailing Chanel used it as a rinseless wash. He even liked it as that. The biggest let down for me is the slickness is just not there with BSD. I would actually test the Sonax Ceramic Coating Detailer. As some says it's hydrophobic propeties are better than the Ceramic Coating one and the slickness is also a step up from it. Just from others who has used it though.
    Great video!

      Same here! I do BSD 60/LT 40 mix during the winter and then invert the proportion adding more LT during the summer months. It's been my rinseless wash solution for years. I just spray Surfex HD @7% leave on for a couple of minutes, rinse then follow up with this solution using damp Korean microfibre towels. No need to buff. I just don't use foam anymore unless I'm doing the annual light polish session. Sometimes I use DDsi or Ethos Resist for increased gloss.

      Yep! What I’ve found is to use the Sonax Ceramic Spray Coating every 4-6 months (dependent on how much it sits outside, driven in the rain, etc.) and then I use the Sonax Ceramic Ultra Slick Detailer after every wash to keep the hydrophobic effect going whilst still having the coating acting as a sealant. The detailer also seems to extend the life of the coating.

    • @Youtubepoiuytre

      I had my car detailed, and my detailer recommended I use the Sonax Spray and Seal to rejuvenate the coating he applied. I apply the S&S during each wash, dry my car, then use the Ultra Slick Detailer. It's so easy to work with and get results, it almost feels like cheating. The gloss and shine on my black car are amazing. Combined with the Spray and Seal, my car gets crazy beads after rain. And this is after almost 2 months of no washing ( just had no time, and I don't live in a house with a driveway and hose). I love these products so much.
      Edit: also love that sour grape candy smell on the Ultra Slick Detailer.

    I have used both products. The bsd is cheap and durable, but I also find it streaky and grabby. I've also used it diluted 1:1 which makes it easier to apply but not easy enough.
    On the other hand I found the ceramic spray to be extremely easy to use, no streaking, slick and provides really descent protection. For me the ceramic detailer is one of the best detailers out there in terms of performance and ease of use. Even though the ceramic detailer costs twice as much as the bsd, I would still buy the ceramic detailer.

    BSD is great if u can’t or don’t wish to wash your car every week. As while yes it’s hard work it just lasts ages on the car and when u do wash it’s so much easier. I’d say that it’s more of a spray wax than a quick detail spray. A little goes a really long way, it’s good value and the protection offered is right up there as one of the best. As others have said a winter one it definitely is with price and protection. But summer isn’t ideal for bsd as it can be too grabby on a warm panel making so much more work.

    BSD a great product especially for the price, but it’s not perfect as you said grabby and shine isn’t the best. I just want a stand-alone spray like this quick and easy to use every 4th wash or so that gives similar durability, and beading but better slickness and shine. That would be the holy grail, even if it was double the price.

    Good video, thanks John. I'm new to detailing so I'm always interested in your advice, it really does help, I've learned a lot from you. One question, during summer when the car gets dusty, then we have the obligatory shower, do these heavy beading products make the car look worse, would I be better off with something that sheets more, if so, what would you recommend? FYI, I have a black VW and I've just hand polished with AD cherry glaze and added TW Hydro Sealant for some protection. Thank you.

    • @simonbyrne1182
      @simonbyrne1182 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on how long/heavy the rain shower is tbh. If there's just enough rain to wet the car, the dust, pollen etc just gathers in the beads and then ends up as spots when those beads evaporate. If the rain shower is heavy enough to flush the dirt off the paint and replace with cleaner water then you'll notice a self-cleaning effect.
      Also rain doesn't tend to sheet as such. For example if you rinse a freshly BSD'd car at close proximity with an open hose it'll sheet water off. However if you then put a shower head onto the hose and spray the water up in the air, like rainfall, you'll end up with beads.
