Beautiful clothing! When I started thrifting 40 years ago (gulp!) the shops were filled with wonderful dressing gowns, smoking jackets and dresses etc. from the 30's, 40's, and 50's. Wish I'd purchased everything I saw. Still buy the occasional piece (a Chanel blazer) that will never fit.....can't resist!
@@Androgynary ... I remember when they went from 2nd hand stores to "Vintage Clothing Stores." My kids had been to the beach, and came home telling me about a 'Vintage Clothing Store" on Venice Beach called The Aardvark. Most of us who grew up with these clothes, were glad to move beyond them, but the kids were snatching them up like crazy. Now, they're hard to find.
The lady who owned those clothing had class. I was born in 1952 and making clothes was the only way to have what you wanted. Love them all. I wish we could start dressing more classy again.
Fay and kilo1212....go for it. I refuse to wear sweats, t-shirts and jeans evey where. People used to ask me if I was "going out" now they just tell me what a classy dresser I am. It took me a little time to get "un self conscious", but now that I'm over 50, I say life is too short to not wear great clothes. I love thrift store shopping and I receive compliments on my outfits frequently. If you have the desire to start dressing classy...just DO IT. You never know, you might start something in your area. That's how trends start....with ONE person.
I would definitely dry clean most of the mote elaborate clothing and then each time you wear them maybe be once ever 6the wear or once in the spring and once I'm the fall hang them outside on the rack,to,air out They do mot need to be washed alot. Take the shoulder pads out if you don't like them, but I thought they really gave you a nicer shape. It's worth it to find an old seamstress who does her work from home to help you with the ones that are too large. And I highly recommend " Grandma's attic' which you can find on Wal-Mart checkout sections yo get rid of those deeper stains. If you take your chance at washing, hand wash and hang to dry, cold water. Feel free to contact me if I can help you more.
I'm 71 years old, so I remember well my mom and grandma wearing clothes like those in the 50's & 60's. They each made their own clothes, using mainly Butterick patterns. Watching this video was like watching episodes of Mad Men! :)
The dark blue dress is actually velvet. Velour came on the scene in the 1970’s. The first pink sheer piece that was hanging over the other pink is actually lingerie. It would have been a bed jacket, the gold quilted type jacket, also bed jacket. The dress with the really large collar, probably early to mid 50’s, it buttoned all down the front. I’ve seen pics of my mom, when I was small, mid 50’s, wearing dresses like that. Oh buttons, they were beautiful in the past, way past. They are so generic today. I have buttons from years past, that are so unique. Any questions that you have about cleaning, I would definitely check with a dry cleaner. The velvet is definitely ‘dry clean only’. I really enjoyed seeing all that clothing. My grandmother was a professional seamstress and my mother was an awesome home seamstress, too. At one time, I made a lot of my own clothing. I had good teachers and I just loved being able to make something like no one else would have. Quite a find you have made! The pins...icing on the cake! 😊👍🏻👗
I once tried to make my own curtains... let's just say, if I had a slanted window they would have been great! Haha. My grandmother's sisters all were amazing with sewing, knitting, seamstress work. I try my best, but it just doesn't work for me. I can only appreciate the hard work put into making one's own clothes and hope for the chance to find more clothes like these! And I agree, the pins were a nice surprise!
I thought that was velvet too....as soon as she held it up I could hear the song "She wore Blue Velvet" playing in my head....now it's stuck there. lol :)
TheRobinMasters Theory I actually wore baby blue velvet to my prom in high school. My grandmother made the formal and it was the Juliet style...1971. Would you believe that while I was getting ready to go to the prom, I was listening to an oldies station and they played Bobby Vinton singing, “She Wore Blue Velvet”?
I would search for an individual in your area that deals with cleaning vintage clothing. Nice find, I love the fire fighter uniform, will it be for sale? . I was a volunteer fire fighter.
If there is a dress or outfit you love that is too big it would definitely be worth spending the money to have it altered... You got an amazing haul... Thank you for sharing!
Just found your channel... how very sweet u r... YOUR EXCITEMENT is amazing.... THOSE CLOTHES ARE MEANT FOR UUUU... what a way to honor the time period PLUS THE LOVELY LADIES SEAMSTRESSES SKILLS... take a few pics of yourself and leave a sweet note in the couples mailbox ..EVEN SWEETER THAT U WANT TO KEEP AND WEAR ANNNDDD THEY FIT.... meant for UUUUUU
I have to say this is probably my most favorite video that you've done. You looked so pretty in those clothes. They fit just perfect. I think it would have been so fun for them to see you wearing them. Bring a happy tear to their eyes
Lovely dresses! I used to proudly wear vintage dresses. My fav was an olive green silk. This was twenty years ago! Be careful with drycleaners. The threads of one of my dresses completely disintegrated during the cleaning! Thanks for sharing and take care!
I love homemade clothes! My mother and grandmother made my clothes when I was a child. It’s hard to find handmade clothes. It is your lucky day. They are beautiful! I have been using a fabric spray I found at Tuesday morning. If you have a Tuesday morning store check out there scented fabric sprays. The green outfit definitely needs to go to the cleaner. But most could be washed in cold water on the gentle cycle, turn inside out. Hang dry. Iron with light starch. I think you will look so cute in these clothes especially the green plaid with big bow. The 60 styles are my favorite. I remember my mother wearing dresses back then. Love that style. I wish I could sew like that too. I have a machine and I made a few Halloween costumes , some curtains. I’m not very good at it. My grandmother was a seamstress. She used to sew for ladies in our community . They all came to her to have dresses made. And that’s how she contributed to the household. So she was my babysitter and to keep me occupied she would give me a needle and thread with fabric scraps. By the age of three I made Barbie clothes by hand. I also played with jars of buttons. Life was so different back then. So simple. Less stress. Enjoy all your beautiful clothes. You could sell one piece and make your money back and then some. God bless, Leslye
I love vintage clothing also , and I am sure the lady who made them is smiling in heaven that someone as lovely as you have them and will wear them and share them with others ...and i can understand why vintage clothing is loved by so many it is because the new clothes they are making for women these days it is all trash no details no real care went into making it...wonderful finds thank you for another great video ..
I kept telling them how I was so glad that I stopped at their sale & how it made my week... my month... possibly my year haha. This kind of yard sale is the reason why I still force myself to go to yard sales - you just never know what you will find!
Wow I wish I was this lucky. I'd go crazy for that black velvet jacket and blue/black jacket. They are both 1940's I believe. Before you salvage the buttons, it may be worth more as a jacket. SO amazing, I dress 40's/50's. Love the channel.
DO NOTREMOVE THE SHOULDER PADS OUT OF THAT VINTAGE VOGUE JACKET !!! It’s classic 1940’s ! And it looks fab on you ! And I’d go all in even further by putting a victory roll wig on you and 1940’s make-up ! What a blast of a day that would be with a vintage photo shoot !
Agreed, please don't alter it. You seemed to have been a little shy with it on but, it looks amazing you need to wear it even with jeans and heels on a night out.. Your so lucky.
I LOVE VINTAGE CLOTHING AND JEWELRY TO0. THE 1940'S- 1960'S I LOVE THE STYLE BACK THEN, SO CLASSY AND CLEAN LOOKING BEAUTIFUL STYLES THAT ARE TIMELESS. I WISH CLOTHES OF THIS FINE QUALITY WAS MADE TODAY. LOVE THAT HORSE PIN. THIS WAS A SWEET VIDEO, AND I AM SO GLAD YOU FOUND.THESE BEAUTIFUL CLOTHES AND PINS, BECAUSE YOU APPRECIATE THEM. I LOVE THE GREEN OUTFIT WITH FUR, IT LOOKS LIKE A VINTAGE CHRISTMAS OUTFIT, ALSO THE VELVET IN THE BLUE, THE FIRST PINK I LOVE THAT ONE TOO. THE COAT WITH THE RED LINNING SO PRETTY. MAY YOU HAVE A BLESSED WEEK.
AWESOME AWESOME, they will be so cute on you!! If a collar is stained maybe add a lace collar, i think you should drop a card to sellers to let them know again how happy their loved ones clothes made you , it means alot to us older folks. Love your videos !! Say hi to Taco :)
When I was about 11 or 12, I found an old shirt that belonged to my mother. I asked her if I could have it and she said sure. Then proceeded to tell me it was maternity top from when she carried me, lol. I loved that top and wore it every chance I got.
Shoulder pads were a big thing in the 40's. A lot of clothes in the 40's did a comeback in the 70's. You got an amazing score with those. They're wonderful!
Your joy in these items probably made their day too. Nice to pass things on to those who truly appreciate them and not just for resale. Have photos of my grandmother from the 1950s all dolled up even for kids birthday parties wearing outfits like these. Echo what a few others have said about the sun and line drying being great for stains.
Ah yes when fashion was queen:) I so remember my lovely sister who was a young woman in the '50s dressing so fantastic when she went away to the "big" city to work:) You will look lovely in them
Love these clothes, my mom worked for ILGWU I used to pick her up at 3pm. The bell would ring and you’d hear all the pitter patter of women’s shoes as they rushed down the stairs to go home. She made all my clothes and matching outfits for her and me lol
i'm sure those folks were thrilled to have you purchase those clothes with your true delight in them! It's not always about the money...Love that little green jacket...
My advice is to have them professionally dry cleaned and have them mark any special concerns (staining, etc.) For the amount you payed for them, it would be totally worth the expense. Love seeing your enthusiasm! You need to go back and knock on their door and leave your name and number just in case they decide to do anymore attic cleaning. Tell them you are going to wear the clothes or even show up wearing one. Who knows where that will lead, because next time they might just throw items in the trash! Congratulations on your wonderful finds!❤️
I've worked at a few dry cleaners....some may not accept the items for dry cleaning because of age...they are afraid that the item may deteriorate during cleaning. Probably best to hand wash and use some Oxiclean and Woolite...some things that say dry clean can be hand washed.
What an amazing, beautiful, unique, and mother of all vintage clothes finds. I'm so happy you were able to rescue clothing that might have otherwise been tossed aside.
Wow! Some of those are frame worthy, like that black steampunk jacket at the end. And that bed jacket looked just like the one Lucy wore when she was pregnant. And what’s really awesome is seeing “where” they used pins on clothes. Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes you can dye the stained things. I’m so glad that these clothes went to someone who appreciates them. I think they are amazing! She had great taste, too, as you do!
OMG THE BADGE! What awesome clothes. I would wear every piece. I adore the 50s and 60s dresess. Clothing was so classy back then. I'm so jealous lol. Would Love to see the photos.
So touching. All those beautiful clothes made with such care and attention to detail. And so many fit you perfectly. That coat with the shoulder pads and the horse pin fits you like a dream. Do not fear the shoulder pads! The 1940s shoulder pads are different than the horrible poorly fitted shoulder pads of the 1980s. Hope you keep and wear it. PS. I think the blue silk jacket with the yellow lining on the inside might have been a bed jacket. Maybe Thelma enjoyed some winter mornings in bed with some coffee.
hfsaid Yes! And the shoulder pads of the 1940s were sewn in carefully and sat comfortably on your shoulders & flattered your waist. The shoulder pads of the eighties were sewn in sloppily and sat awkwardly or worse yet the pads were velcroed in!
Great find. Your best bet, before you discard, remove buttons or wash is to contact a textile conservator for advice on the handling of the different fabrics. Even the velvets might be salvageable. If you have a local museum, they are very helpful with this sort of thing. You might also consider donating the fireman's uniform to a local historical society.
What an amazing haul! They are pieces of history. I'm envious they are beautiful. You looked amazing in the green jacket with the fur. I hope we get a chance to see you in them. You can remove shoulder pads if there's anything you really like. I'd take some to the cleaners if they are wool but a gentle wool wash should be ok for the rest of them. The mould can be treated with a cap full of white vinegar in warm water, then wash on a gentle wash. Thank you for sharing x
That’s the perfect fit. Check your thread to see if it is dry rotted. Cotton thread is what they used to sew with and it ages with time unlike the cotton coated nylon thread we use today. You need you a few basic pumps and you will be the talk of the town. On the staining on white materials, buttermilk works wonders. You soak the stains in the buttermilk and lay it in the sun. The enzymes in the buttermilk loosen up the stains. Mold can be gotten out by buttermilk also. Always, always, always keep a gallon of high percentage of vinegar to use with salt to set colors OR vinegar to remove sweat stains as well as others. My grandma used to swear by Listerine to remove the stains and odor perspiration leaves. I am so thrilled to see someone that appreciates good fashion. That’s why I want to buy the buttons you got recently. I like to use the patterns from yesteryear to make clothes for me and my two little grand daughters. I need the buttons to stay true to my passion and my heart. Thank you so much for giving me such a thrill. And the pins you were gifted to you!!! Hey I don’t need any extra help in the shoulder department so I usually remove the shoulder pads. So, so thrilled for you.
I also think a photo shoot or fashion show is a must and I think as fragile as the fabrics are and the lack of tags and the fact that you do not know the fabric dry cleaning is in order unless you know for sure what it is.
The coat you tried on is really cute on you. Thanks for sharing. I could feel your excitement!! Always fun to get a bargain!! The one with the fur is lovely!! You couldn't touch the fabric for one dress for what you paid for all!! The dark blue velvet is stunning!! Some stains can be removed with hydrogen peroxide, test first. Some stains are yellow from hanging and will come out with spray and wash. Be careful with dry cleaning. Some use harsh solutions and they leave residue. Some you can air first then hand was and air dry so you don't ruin. Some if the shoulder pads you can just skip out. The ones under the lining, not so easy. Good luck. Let us Know how your cleaning process goes. Thanks
I've been able to hand wash and delicate cycle some of them. No harm to the fabrics and some stains came out with the Oxi Clean. Going to do a 2nd round of cleaning/air drying to remove some of the "old" smell.
19:21 the dark blue dress, actually called midnight blue in the olden days (lol) is silk velvet not velour. Hang it up on a padded hanger or lay it down on a bed perhaps? Same with the black thin fabric jacket with the buttons too. This blue dress was a best dress worn for important events. Just lovely and a real find. It will need to be dry cleaned. If it doesn't fit this dress (if you love it) needs to be refitted for you. You couldn't buy a dress with this material now under a 1000.00 usd. The sleeveless blouses were made to go under suit jackets especially in the summer. You would remove the jacket if you were too hot, jackets on for too cold. Lord you got some absolutely wonderful things. The shoulder pads are from the 50's not the 80's and frankly are beginning to return according to the latest clothing designs. All these clothes are from the 50's including the wild flower tops...where do you think we got all those ideas? The 50's.
there are no coincidences, you were meant to be the new keeper of these beautiful vintage pieces. Its what I love about being a picker. Being able to take things out of an environment where they are no longer being loved and finding the person who will love them again. Im drawn to paper as well. Yesterday I found DOMEBOOK 2. First printing of the second edition October 1972 25,000 printed. All about geodesist Domes. design, building materials a lot of really cool stuff. paid 25 cents for it. Also need to go through a bundle of LIFE mags. most look to be from WWll era. well happy picking and thanks for sharing!!
What a great score and love how happy it's making you! They were probably happy, too, to find that someone appreciated all their vintage clothing. You will look great in a lot of those clothes! Enjoy!!
What a haul! Soak the stained clothes in Oxiclean mixed in a tub of water for up to a week if need be. Check them every so often. Clorox Stain Remover and Color Booster is great at removing stains that won't come out with any other method, like blood, sweat, spaghetti, rust stains. Another TH-camr who cleans vintage linens recommends washing them in Persil. I'm not sure why but I use a clothes soap for sensitive skin. Use a Color Catcher cloth in each tub that's soaking. I soak mine in the tub of my washing machine. I can do this because I've got an older machine that doesn't have a locking mechanism. I can open and close the lid at any point in the process. I soak several items at one time in that big tub, then if I think it needs to be hand washed, I will pull out, wring and place into another tub...or maybe use the rinse cycle & spin without using the agitation during the wash cycle. You should be able to save most if not all of those items, particularly that white blouse. The taffeta, satin, rayon, etc. fabrics should be dry cleaned. Don't give them away too quickly if they don't at first respond to your efforts. Some other product or tip may come your way later. That man's mother was quite the lady. She obviously liked looking nice and was thrifty, too, sewing so many of her own clothes. I do remember the days in which many economical homemakers made their own clothes. Very nice, all of it!
There used to be a product called Woolite for fine washables. Haven’t looked for it for years but I’m sure there must be a product like it out there somewhere. Hand wash and hang to dry should work fine for most of your finds. Don’t use metal hangers.
Omg I would say you hit a vintage jackpot that velvet blue dress is amazing everything the carpet you called is beautiful don’t throw away donate it to me I will get the satin off and wear it I’m a Mexican 40 yr old that I love vintage and wish I live that era where women only wear dresses and men had more values. Good job girl
Great haul! I'm excited for you! The short sleeve white shirt can be made to look like a muslin material shirt just by soaking it in strong tea water. It will blend the stains already there into the uneven colors of darker muslin. Voila! A new vintage look shirt 🤗
Be prepared. 1950's, most fabric was Not colorfast, if it is cotton hand wash cold hang dry and iron. The majority looks like it would need careful dry cleaning, remove the brooches even if they are sewn on. Call around and tell them what you have until you find a cleaner who specializes in this type of item. Take the items in and discuss what they think will happen if cleaned. A regular cleaners will either decline to clean it or just take it and ruin it. When you find someone just get one thing cleaned to see how it comes out (not your favourite). I was born in the 1940's and my Mom sewed at home for 2 different companies. She made all our clothes, I learned to sew on her vintage Singer industrial commercial grade sewing machine, it could sew anything including heavy leather.
Love the clothes! You should try them all on for us and give us a fashion show. All the pins are beautiful, too! You got a great haul! Really enjoyed, thanks!
What a great image came to my mind when reading about cooking in dresses! Lucky you to score such great clothes! Please model at least your favorite 3!!! I am sure they will look awesome on you! I really enjoyed watching your excitement!
Some of those dresses are amazing....your lucky day! I’m sure those people you bought from are just happy that the mothers clothes were going to someone that would enjoy and take care of! Your enthusiasm is refreshing. All the best from a new fan from Canada.🇨🇦
When you showed the fire man shirt .i was crying. Because it remains of my father in law when he was alive .he passed away in July the 29th 2017 from a rear form of Parkinson disease called psp. Thank you love you
Soak in oxy clean, snowy bleach, or a non chlorine bleach for colored clothing and hand wash in cold water, then hang to dry. I would dry clean the coats and velvet. The mold should come off. If it has a musty smell still, hang outside to air for awhile. The fur cuffs are fragile as the skins have dried out from the heat in the attic. There’s nothing you can really do about the fading or anything with perspiration stains under the arms. Perspiration is impossible to get out totally. Good luck, you have some really cute pieces.
Oh my these are beautiful dresses! You can soak most of the clothing in cold water with a mild detergent and a bit of vinegar. Hand washing will work. Rinse in cold water. To wring out the excess water, place the clothing on a large towel and roll the towel up. Air dry outside if possible and press inside out on cool. Great find!
Love your channel...your interests...I hope you wear some of the items....and glad you are cautious about cleaning methods...Many of the fabrics from back then will shrink and wrinkle when washed, so on all non-cotton items probably dry cleaning...but research it.....your best bet......Great Finds...💞
Great finds. I think the clothing is earlier than the 80's perhaps 50 or 60's. I have sew for 64 yers. You can take the shoulder pads out. Here is a Magic Stair remover I found on Pinterest. But check on a seam for color fastness. 1 tsp. Blue Dawn, 2 TBs. Baking soda, 3-4 TBS. Hydrogen Peroxide. Mix then use a old tooth brush to scrub the stain. Sometimes you have to apply twice. Do not dry in the dryer until the stain is out. Borax sometimes works on mold stains. But with both, check for color fast on a seam. Hope this trick works. I have always gotten the stain out with the Magic Stain Remover. Sometimes it takes 2 or three times. Wash as per garment instructions. Many of them items you showed will require dry cleaning. Hope this helps dear friend.
I would dry clean most of them due age and them are fragile. The dry cleaners then can tell you how how to care.Do not dry them Hand them flat. You look great in them all especially the red dresses. You make me smile every time.Thank you
A belt around the waist will help also. And oxi clean laundry soap will take stains out. Or soak them in warm water with 50% Vinegar and 50% water. Than wash them if the stains come off. One or both will work. I own 13 different sewing machines, and a serger. quilting, computerized, embordery with hoops, etc. I love to hand sew also, my favorite. I love the vintage clothes you got. So exciting to see the wonderful condition they are in. Wow~!
Love the joy on your face and in your eyes. They should feel so lucky for someone to buy the clothes that reallllly loves them! Yay for you! Yay for them! No tags...#homemade
You did way GOOD, girl!!!!!!! I am soooooo happy for you!!!! Good things come to those who are deserving / what goes around comes around. What amazing, well made dresses!!!!!!!!! Such care and time it took to construct so many perfectly detailed garments!!!!!!!!! They don’t make that junk that comes from foreign countries with any where near that kind of precision and quality!!!!!!!!! By the way, most of the brown and yellow discoloration is from mere aging and is not like set in stains. It should be much easier to remove than stains. Anything that is washable can be gently soaked in Oxy Clean. I buy a lot of antique/vintage doilies, pillow cases, handkerchiefs, and assorted other textiles. A good Oxy Clean soak has never failed me in removing those signs of age. Enjoy your delicious finds sweet girl!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️. Thank you for sharing the fun of your excitement with us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the pieces you found 💗 But I think you should go back to there home and see if they want the Grandpas Firemens shirt and pin. I don't think they know it was even in there . Sad family airlume.
What a beautiful haul it was. There are so many beautiful unique pieces. They were meant to be for you. As a bonus the many pins AND the badge and uniform. I was so excited for you! Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your vlog. Have common interests and look forward to checking in. Have a great week! a
Such great vintage clothing. To start, you can put a dryel sheet with a few pieces and see if the musty odor comes out. If you know your fabrics, you can gentle wash the pieces that are cotton or linen. Now if they are rayon, wool or wool blends you’ll need to dry clean them. And you are going to need to learn to iron, because very few fabrics back then were no iron! For stains, if the fabric is cotton, a long soak in oxiclean is recommended. I believe there are products for washing vintage clothing you can purchase on Etsy. I love your enthusiasm and excitement. I’m hoping you will do a fashion show wearing your favorites! The pins that on the pieces are probably worth the $25 you paid for all the clothing. My daughter would love these, too, she loves 1950s and 60s fashion.
Going through the pile again, there are a decent amount that I should be able to hand wash/delicate cycle. The jackets and a few of the dresses, including that great green one, will have to go to the dry cleaners. The pins were a nice bonus!
Thank you for saving those clothes to go through the first time on camera. Your reactions are just precious. You were filled with awe when your pulled out and recognized the firefighter shirt with the badge. You are keeping it real! Good luck with cleaning and caring for all of those beautiful pieces. Can't wait for you to do some modeling of the ones you keep.

Linda Hind wow, I would love to have experienced thrift stores back in the day!

I wished I knew what state yiu live in...stuff is hard to fund here
The woman who handmade these items would be so pleased that someone has them who is appreciative of her work and who is so thrilled to have them.
Makes me think of my mother...she made all 6 of us girls, clothing...thank you for the memory
The lady who owned those clothing had class. I was born in 1952 and making clothes was the only way to have what you wanted. Love them all. I wish we could start dressing more classy again.
Amen to that. When I dress up a bit, everyone is " are you going out to dinner?"
Fay and kilo1212....go for it. I refuse to wear sweats, t-shirts and jeans evey where. People used to ask me if I was "going out" now they just tell me what a classy dresser I am. What a wonderful haul,,,,,, I think a modeling shoot is in order. Would love to see you in some vintage clothes.
Please make video when you try them on
I'm 71 years old, so I remember well my mom and grandma wearing clothes like those in the 50's & 60's. They each made their own clothes, using mainly Butterick patterns. Watching this video was like watching episodes of Mad Men! :)

Exactly what I was thinking😊😊😊...hire a seamstress to alter the clothing...some of the dresses may need to be shortened as well
Or you could get a piece that takes in the waist on the back of the dress. Iy has little clips on both ends.

I have to say this is probably my most favorite video that you've done. You looked so pretty in those clothes. They fit just perfect. I think it would have been so fun for them to see you wearing them. Bring a happy tear to their eyes
Fantastic “haul”! The green jacket with the faux fur cuffs looks amazing on you.
The green jacket & dress is my favorite!
Those clothes were made for you.. your excitement is very infectious :)
Lovely dresses! I used to proudly wear vintage dresses. My fav was an olive green silk. This was twenty years ago! Be careful with drycleaners. The threads of one of my dresses completely disintegrated during the cleaning! Thanks for sharing and take care!
I agree. Handwashing is much better than dry cleaning- the chemicals can disintegrate delicate fabrics.
Ooooo girl you scored! You are set for decades in dresses no matter the occasion. And the cow girl pin! Love it. Your joy is priceless.
Blue velvet, they didn’t have velour back then! So happy for you, your happiness is all over your face!
I love vintage clothing also , and I am sure the lady who made them is smiling in heaven that someone as lovely as you have them and will wear them and share them with others ...and i can understand why vintage clothing is loved by so many it is because the new clothes they are making for women these days it is all trash no details no real care went into making it...wonderful finds thank you for another great video ..
lovie decker p
If your smile was as big in front of those people as it is throughout this video....they knew. The clothes went to a loving home. Congrats! 😀😀😀
Glad you enjoy the channel! I'm going to have the black velvet jacket looked at, as I would rather keep it together verses taking off the buttons.
I am excited for YOU!! I enjoy just hearing your voice when you are touched by what you receive or find!! So sweet!
Yes. She’s intoxicating
Congratulations ! Now I am ready for a fashion show ! You have made my afternoon, so happy for you. Patty in Seattle
I think that's a great idea!!
Yes ! With a little side note to please contact you if they decide to let go of more and contact #. . . What a find 😍👕👚👗💞 TFS
When I was about 11 or 12, I found an old shirt that belonged to my mother. I asked her if I could have it and she said sure. Then proceeded to tell me it was maternity top from when she carried me, lol. I loved that top and wore it every chance I got.
The Green plaid, bow, buttons and big white collar is Adorable.
Most your items are 40's and 50's, union labels came out in 59. Charming things. Glad you are so excited, you will look great girl. Enjoy!
Wearing a dress to the door is exactly what I would do!
And return the badge. It's probably family and they'd want to keep it
I've worked at a few dry cleaners....some may not accept the items for dry cleaning because of age...they are afraid that the item may deteriorate during cleaning.
If I had to part with my mother’s old clothes and someone like you happened along I would be so happy they went to a good home. Priceless. 💕
I think the people were shocked when I said that I wanted to take them all, but I'm sure they could see how excited I was to have them!
Kitty Day I'm kinda jealous too. She really scored big.
I know my mother uses peroxide and direct sunshine ☀️ on white fabrics for some stains and yellowing. She makes our crochet doilies look brand new.
Peroxide and lemon in the sun
So touching. All those beautiful clothes made with such care and attention to detail. And so many fit you perfectly. That coat with the shoulder pads and the horse pin fits you like a dream. Do not fear the shoulder pads! The 1940s shoulder pads are different than the horrible poorly fitted shoulder pads of the 1980s. Hope you keep and wear it. PS. I think the blue silk jacket with the yellow lining on the inside might have been a bed jacket. Maybe Thelma enjoyed some winter mornings in bed with some coffee.
Shoulder pads come & go, like all fashion - in cycles.
I cannot wait to see the video of the vintage clothes that you can wear
What an amazing haul! They are pieces of history. I'm envious they are beautiful. You looked amazing in the green jacket with the fur. I hope we get a chance to see you in them. You can remove shoulder pads if there's anything you really like. I'd take some to the cleaners if they are wool but a gentle wool wash should be ok for the rest of them. The mould can be treated with a cap full of white vinegar in warm water, then wash on a gentle wash. Thank you for sharing x
Oh my gosh you got some beautiful unique pieces!! You have an amazing figure, I'd love to see you trying on your favourites. ❤️❤️❤️
An amazing find of vintage! I so enjoyed watching you showing them off. The joy and excitement in your face is beautiful.
Vintage clothing is always my jam! 🌹
I also think a photo shoot or fashion show is a must and I think as fragile as the fabrics are and the lack of tags and the fact that you do not know the fabric dry cleaning is in order unless you know for sure what it is.
Fantastic find, loved your reactions love the horse pin and jacket that heavy coat looks like a swing coat.I LOVE THIS VIDEO
Great find ! I love your channel ...glad Stacks recommended it.
Glad you enjoy the channel & thanks for watching!
@@PaperandMoose great. Thanks for the quick reply.
The magazines make for entertaining reading as well as just seeing all the different ads are fun!
What a great score and love how happy it's making you! They were probably happy, too, to find that someone appreciated all their vintage clothing. You will look great in a lot of those clothes! Enjoy!!
Here i am seing you in Portugal, and there you are finding a jacket made in Portugal in the past century.
Me O My O !!! Lovely purchase of vintage clothing. 🥳🤗 💌 OooWee! Blessings.
There used to be a product called Woolite for fine washables. Haven’t looked for it for years but I’m sure there must be a product like it out there somewhere. Hand wash and hang to dry should work fine for most of your finds. Don’t use metal hangers.
Doreen Blatz They still make Woolite . I still buy it usually at Wal-mart to wash my hand washable items in💖
I was thinking the same thing!
OMG LOVE LOVE LOVE all those vintage clothes...
Dont you love it when they say that how about 1.oo each! Great finds
Great advice, Robin!
You were so meant to have these. You look very pretty in them. Good for you. 😊
Your happiness is contagious!! It brings you back to fun times. You wonder all that happened in these clothes!! Love this so much!! Enjoy!
Love the clothes! You should try them all on for us and give us a fashion show. All the pins are beautiful, too! You got a great haul! Really enjoyed, thanks!
These vintage clothes are absolutely beautiful and nicer because they’re one of a kind
Great finds! I remember my Mother wearing similar clothes. They would always wear an apron over them when cooking and cleaning..
Most of the time I'm making supper in my comfy sweatpants and hoodie! Guess I'll have to change things up every now and then!
What a great image came to my mind when reading about cooking in dresses! Lucky you to score such great clothes! Please model at least your favorite 3!!! I am sure they will look awesome on you! I really enjoyed watching your excitement!
Such amazing find. It's great that you were able to save them. Thanks so much for sharing.
Some of those dresses are amazing....your lucky day! I’m sure those people you bought from are just happy that the mothers clothes were going to someone that would enjoy and take care of! Your enthusiasm is refreshing. All the best from a new fan from Canada.🇨🇦
Hi Susan in Canada! Glad you found the channel and hope you enjoy the other videos!
Borax mixed in water kills mold if the fabric is washable, found in a box on the laundry isle. I've done it plenty!
I have washed many dry clean items by hand
Good luck, you have some really cute pieces.
the blue and black jacket was amazing
Oh my these are beautiful dresses! You can soak most of the clothing in cold water with a mild detergent and a bit of vinegar. Hand washing will work. Rinse in cold water. To wring out the excess water, place the clothing on a large towel and roll the towel up. Air dry outside if possible and press inside out on cool. Great find!
Awesome find! Just that rhinestone pin is worth $25. The lace dress is my favorite!
Omg that velvet blue dress is gorgeous, you hit the jackpot...Congrats!!! Please post pics if you wear any of those beautiful clothes.
A great vintage of clothes. Thanks for sharing.
What a fabulous find! As you wear any of them, it would be nice for you to insert a picture in your videos. So excited for you.
Love your channel...your interests...I hope you wear some of the items....and glad you are cautious about cleaning methods...Many of the fabrics from back then will shrink and wrinkle when washed, so on all non-cotton items probably dry cleaning...but research it.....your best bet......Great Finds...💞
Love your Lovely vintage find! Yes, i too would love to see you in some of the pieces! GROOVY!
I love the red dress and those tops are perfect. I’m so glad you found this haul!! 😀👍
They are beautiful and clearly the universe wanted you to have them. I hope you are able to save the blue dress it’s fabulous.
The blue dress will be going to the dry cleaners. If it fits, I'll have to find a reason to wear it!
You will look fabulous in most of those garments, what a great find.
Love the green dress and jacket and the black and white dress! Great finds.
Beautiful clothing! You did hit the jackpot!
Fabulous find Renee!
I love how the fireman uniform made you speachless💕 imagine the young man who wore it and the pride he took in wearing it💕
I would dry clean most of them due age and them are fragile. The dry cleaners then can tell you how how to care.Do not dry them Hand them flat. You look great in them all especially the red dresses. You make me smile every time.Thank you
You really hit the jackpot with the vintage clothes. Love the gray and black jacket on you. My favorite find. Love your channel!❤️
Fashion show ! Fashion show !!!
What a fantastic find! These were meant for you! Wonderful to see someone so happy and appreciative of the vintage dresses!
Love the pieces you found 💗 But I think you should go back to there home and see if they want the Grandpas Firemens shirt and pin. I don't think they know it was even in there . Sad family airlume.
I agree.
