Lovely dress but of course you have to have the right kind of figure and height, which I have neither. Being only 5' 1 1/2" most dresses don't look good on me.

Serena, I have to tell you how much I love watching you and your sweet Mom shopping together. I lost my Mom 3 years ago to metastatic breast cancer that then metastasized to her liver. We were just like you and your Mom- loved shopping thrift stores and antique stores and just being together. She truly was my best friend and like you I am an only child. I miss her every second of every day and long to go thrifting together one more time. Cherish your Mom everyday. :)

The American rose 🌹 dress. It looks amazing on you.
When a metal zipper is a bit stiff just rub a cake of dry hand soap on the teeth and it will help the zip close smoothly. This tip also works for the runners on sticky wooden drawers.
Also for a sticky zipper: a pencil. Rub the lead up and down the problem area and it works like a dream!

In my country, Malta, such bed throws were used when one of the family daughters was getting married. Only to be shown on the wedding day by the photographer and maybe videographer and then restored back for the next wedding.

I believe the rose dress fabric is called pique (peekay), a textured cotton fabric that was popular back in the 60’s and 70’s. My mom used to sew a lot of our summer outfits with that. BTW, that dress was made for you, reminiscent of Jackie Kennedy. I absolutely love the crushed velvet pillow cases! Thanks for taking us along!

About that beautiful throw… I wanted to let you know that I have one of those ruched Victorian looking throws, I’ve had it for a while and haven’t listed it because I couldn’t really figure out much about it… and like some of the commenters here I also had a few say it reminded them of a coffin cover 🤣 so I’m happy to see some other comments telling a different story about that kind of blanket… it’s not my style but it’s so beautiful I bought it … anyways I still haven’t listed it on eBay so you can have 1st Dibs if you want another one 💕 PS - My fav was the Rose Dress, I was crossing my fingers it would fit you…

I have that throw and a pillow that matches it. I bought it 10 years ago from Victorian Trading Post--I love mine and it's been on my sofa all these years. I hope you enjoy it--it's even quite warm when it's chilly out!

We were very close also but sadly she died when I was just 17. It’s been 57 years now and I still miss her. And my very favorite piece of the things you found today is the lovely Art Deco necklace from the Check Republic…the green glass. I love this time period for all it had to offer. That's such a beautiful linen dress! I grew up in the Philippines where the climate is hot and humid. Linen was all I wore. It's a natural fiber and it breathes! 😊

I am sitting here drooling whilst having my coffee. How I would love to join you and your mom! Thank Gd you have her and hope that you ladies will be bargain hunting together for years. I recall taking my mom (may she Rest In Peace) to a flea market in Manhattan) sadly not in existence any longer. Anyway, we found her something to sit on while I was roaming around. We used to hang out in the Lower East Side when there were still bargains to be found. So please continue showing us the goodies you find. Good thing I do not own a car any longer! Stay safe ladies.
