    You give the best instructions I have ever heard. Even a novice cook would be able to follow your tips. I just found your channel and I can promise you that I will return. Beautiful videos, delicious menus but most of all a very sincere delivery by a lovely young woman.

    Hey Beth! We own a family restarunt and what we like to do is serve our bread with home made butter. We will actually use a potatoe scoop to put in a little aluminum cup, amd ots a nice presentation soth neatness, and the cilantro and parsely. Just a tip:)

    The "Israeli" couscous is actually Palestinian " Maftoul" and couscous is a middle eastern dish so please don't credit "Israel" for it as I think they have done enough stealing already. Merci

      Everybody “steals from every country’s cuisine nowadays. Everybody makes spaghetti pizza couscous or sushi all over the world. These popular dishes became international property. So RELAX! Nobody cares where dishes come from.

    I am 75, born and raised in Central Michigan. In my forties I spent 34 years in Florida then recently in Arizona. Mentioning this sandwich when in Florida or even here in Arizona, I get strange looks. Maybe it's a Michigan thing, I don't know. But I grew up eating sliced radishes on buttered bread, sprinkled with a little salt. The perfect crunchy sandwich! Even now, still good only I use no salt🤗

    Oh yes. If you are looking for a vegetarian option, you could use the little cucumber cups and fill them with a mixture of fresh corn, diced cherry tomatoes (they are the sweetest) chopped basil, mix that up with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper and then spoon into the cups. Another refreshing appetizer idea for summer entertaining! Enjoy! :)

    YEAH! Good for you! See this is kind of liking doing "hw", because you are "learning to cook healthy meals!" LOL ! OK so Herbs de Provence usually consists of dried thyme, dried rosemary, dried basil, fennel seeds, dried parsley, and marjoram. Much easier to buy in one jar of "herbs de Provence" most grocery stores sell it, but you can "make your own too" by combining all these herbs. So glad you like the videos, you can sub to my own channel too for more healthy meals! xx B

    loved the recipes and will give it a try. your detailed way of showing how to do it with the great tips make it look easy.. thank you. Just a note: Israeli Couscous is called Maftool and is used all over the Middle East. There is nothing "Israeli" about it! thank you again.

    • @olterigo
      @olterigo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is not maftoul. Maftoul is made like the rest of couscous - cracked wheat is rolled into balls and covered in a layer of extra wheat - just bigger. Israeli couscous is made by turning wheat flour into paste and then extruding it using factory equipment. Basically, it is pasta in spherical shape.
      As for the history of how it was created. When the Arab states expelled the Jewish communities that lived throughout the Middle East predating Arabs and Islam, Israel had to feed all of those Jewish refugees, but it didn't have enough rice (like many of them were used to having). And so, Ben Gurion asked the head of Osem (still the largest wheat product factory in Israel) to create a substitute. And so, this was made - if anything - on the basis of Eastern European Jewish cuisine that relied on pasta products. Originally, it was jokingly called "Ben-Gurion's rice."
