Theres nobody in this world that inspires me as much as you. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love you! You are so perfect at EVERYTHING. how do you have so much knowledge!!
:) And I really do pinch myself everyday that our little dream came true and we have this beautiful garden here to share with our children and enjoy :) There's nothing like seeing a personal dream come true! :)
Yes we have seen runners pop out of the strawberry pots :) As for the design, I was really inspired by the formal french gardens of the 18th century. My husband has a lot of books on them and he actually drew out the design. It' works well because we can get a lot of plants in there each season, while still keeping a tidy ornamental look. :)
Watching this video just absolutely tickled my green thumb.... I've never been able to garden; I can't even keep a houseplant alive for more than a couple of months... But now, after watching this, I really, really want to learn. Thank you, Beth, for sharing your home and life with us!
Aw thank you :) Yes the garden is like having your own Whole Foods 2 steps away! LOL! it's really just a best and a dream I've had for years. So it's really nice to be able to share it with all of you in the hopes that others may be inspired to do the same :)
This is so inspiring, Beth :) I'm just 18 but when I get married and have a family in the far future, I want to have a garden that's as beautiful as yours. I love it!
Yes it really can come down to the soil. Every year (spring/fall) put down a mix of compost and fresh potting soil, and some worm castings and just keep doing that and your soil will improve! We had horrible soil when we began, and after a few years of taking care of it it really did get better! The mark of healthy soil are seeing a lot of worms when you dig, means there are a lot of nutrients, no worms, no nutrients. And yes you can get your soil tested too, that's always a good idea :)
Well yes, cedar bark really does help with the weds and also it keeps the moisture in the soil (so it doesn't evaporate with the heat of the sun) and it then decomposes so it adds to the health of your soil too! :) But another way to keep up with weeds is really just to "patrol" every day or so and pluck them out that way it doesn't build up! Also we don't get much rain here so that also helps!
Beth it is like you have read my mind. I have been waiting for this. I actually became inspired by the video where you explained how your garden started, and have actually redesigned my garden to look like yours already. I even put down gravel, and it looks fantastic. I also love the elegant seating area designed by your husband's business. I want one like that so badly but I live in England. You are my inspiration.
Funny about your grape vine. We have one that just started to give the most amazing fruit! In it's second year (you can see a pic on my Instagram feed) It's a concord grape and it is sooo sweet! And yes, we grow 6 types of espallier fruit trees that are really wonderful Apricots, Plums and a Tangerine. All the fruit arrives from May-June and then it's done! Not sure how to extend the season, but reading up on the subject! :) So glad you and Mom enjoy the videos! :) Thx for the support!
Oh yes, the kids REALLY LOVE IT! And they also love all the insects it attracts, grasshoppers, bumble bees, hummingbirds and monarch butterflies. That's the surprising and wonderful thing about gardening, you never know what creature may pay you a visit. We once found a wild peacock in our garden who wouldn't leave! LOL true story! We had to shoo him away and he eventually flew over that tall wall! We sometimes joke that it really is "The enchanted garden"! :)
Yes I thought that might be a fun "follow up" a winter garden tour! OK so the thing with herbs is that certain ones do better at certain times of the year: Summer: Basil, all types. Fall/Winter: Rosemary, Thyme, Spring: Dill, Chives and Parsley. Try grouping them this way seasonally, and I bet you will have better success! Also make sure they get lots of sun, and some "outdoor time" 1-2 hours outside per week. And good drainage is important too!
Oh it's so easy to make. My favorite is to roast it. Line a baking dish with sliced white onion, then eggplant, then red peppers cut into quarters, then roma tomatoes cut in half. Add 5 garlic cloves cut in half, drizzle the whole thing with 1/4 cup of olive oil, and 2 tbsp Herbs de Provence, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Roast at 400F for 30-40 mins stirring often to allow all those veggies to breakdown and caramelize. Great with grilled meats! Enjoy!
Aw how great! You are so lucky in England with all that rain, I bet you don't have to water much? In fact we put the gravel down because we couldn't afford to water a lawn! The gravel is so low maintenance and this way, we keep the water bill in check and spend it on the plants that we can actually eat! :)
When I'm older and have my own house I wish to have a garden as beautiful and full like yours! Your videos always are inspiring to me & you seem like such a genuine down to earth person. Thanks for the tips for the future! x
Hi Beth, I recently found your channel and subscribed to it. I recently moved to Jamaica and decided to grow a rooftop garden. This will be the first garden for this city girl. Oh yeah! Thank you for all the gardening tips. Love your garden!
LOl! Oh no! The funny thing is gardening is just like cooking, it just takes a little practice and one day you'll look around and suddenly everything will be thriving! You are a great cook Carolyn, so I have complete confidence with a little practice you'll be a great gardener too! :)
Aw yes you hold on to that garden dream. That's what my husband and I did, for 10 years! And now we have so much appreciation for it, because we worked so hard to get it LOL! :) There's something so rewarding about that! Now when you say anchovies do you mean like the whole grilled ones? :) Or just the canned ones? Have you seen my ceasar salad recipe :) That's a god one that features anchovie paste! :)
Beth, your garden is just the most beautiful thing. it's very simple and classy, and yet, so full of life! absolutely loved it. I also grow my own basils in my garden, I don't really know what type they are because they are green when they're young and, as they grow, they tend to get shades of purple. it's gorgeous ;)
Beth, you have the most BEAUTIFUL garden!!!! I loved the story behind your house and garden that you shared in an earlier video. I like that you saw great potential in your home and created the garden. If you ever want to do a video on your kitchen and how you organize it, that would be great. Thanks again for sharing all your types and tricks ;)
You are truly inspirational. I started for the first time in my life to actually grow some herbs and vegetables in my garden (after years and months of postponement). Thank you!
Aw LOVE hearing that! Food tastes so much better when you grow it yourself :) Also keeps us connected with nature and the cycle of life :) Just the best! Keep growing! :) xx
Aw thanks Melissa :) So glad you enjoyed it! Yes herbs are such a great way to get started! They give you immediate gratification and are so easy to grow, but you definitely need to watch that mint it will take OVER! lol! Now if I could just spend less time cleaning up my garden and more time cleaning up my house! I'd be in great shape! That's where you COMPLETELY INSPIRE me! :)
Hi Beth, been following you for a while now, and seeing the garden where all the magic is sprouting was really nice! If you would do more gardening videos in the future, with tips like how to take care of the plants in particular, that would really be fantastic!
Ha ha , I know I didn't either until I started doing it. Yes I think it would really be great to do seasonal updates. Learning what grows when, has really helped me make my food more seasonal and has taught me to take advantage of the "seasonal" flavors. I'd love to include this element of learning in my videos, b/c I really do believe "what grows together goes together" and having this knowledge I think has really made me a better cook over the years :) Now time to share w/ all of you
Hi beth, I Live in the UK and the weather here is really bad, constantly raining and barely any sun. I just discovered your channel a few weeks ago and i just wanted to say, your such a inspiration to me i love cooking and watching you cook just makes it easier for me to make things which are non alcaholic as im a Muslim and your food is friendly for all sorts of people, i would love to grow a garden like yours one day or be a guest at your house, you are truly a inspiration to the young and i love your food! Maybe i can oneday share my recipes with you and you can try something completely different something hot and spicy like indian? Your amazing! Xxx
Yes I really would love to do this :) I just keep wondering if maybe it should be a separate channel? Or maybe just seasonal segments when the time arises to plant, harvest etc. It's been so great to see the interest in gardening content, and it's such a big part of my life, so now get ready, it will become part of yours too! :)
I love looking back at these videos and seeing your beautiful garden. I would love to see an update on what it currently looks like! Some fresh garden recipes would be great to see as well!
This is amazing! My mom also gardens, and we love watching your video so this will be nice to show to her. She plants tomatoes, Japanese eggplants, Swiss chard, basil, and okra. The okra are perennials and keep coming back each year. She also experimented with potatoes too, but they were always pretty small. We also have a section of the garden where oregano took over everything; it's very much like your mint plant so be careful about that too if you plant oregano. We also grow green onions too
I discovered your channel a few weeks ago. I'm following all of your adventures! I'm making loads of your recipes! This garden is my inspiration! Thank you so much!!!! My husband's tummy thanks you as well. 🍅🥒🍑🥬
I’m so happy to hear it! I’m so glad you found me and are enjoying all the videos there’s a lot to catch up on ha ha ha! Welcome to the community I’m so glad you’re here!
Hey guys! Sorry this is such a long one, but I couldn't seem to bring myself to cut out any of those veggies! They are all my "little babies" LOL! Anyway, fast forward if you'd like to the end, because the recipe is really great! Easy, summery and soooo pretty and good! Enjoy friends! xx B
OMGosh Beth! Can you please provide more videos like these on your garden and how to garden for beginners? I've always wanted to grow my own fruits and vegetables, but I'm so scared and intimidated by gardening. It would be so amazing if you could create tutorials from how to plant the seeds, what kind of soil to use, how much to water it, etc. Please please please!
Your garden is so inspiring. How did you even start as far as researching the climate and learning about the arrangement of companion plants? I would love to start a garden of my own but where I stay we have extreme weather.
Yes I really would love to do this :) I've been toying with the idea of a second gardening channel just for that type of content, but need to find another 6 hours in my day! LOl! Maybe when the kids are bigger and life isn't so hectic :) xx
Really just from a few books (see links in the description) and by "trial and error" really the best way to learn most things :) And of course the internet! :)
Sure just depends on where you live and when you want to eat it. Here in the states we like to have our pumpkins by at least Oct (for Halloween) or at the latest Nov (for Thanksgiving) and since I live in warm California there is no danger of cold weather. So yes you could plant it today if you lived in a temperate climate and were willing to wait at least 90 days before you see a pumpkin :) They do take a while to grow! But worth the wait :)
Fantastic!!! Hope you and your dad might do a video together about decorating around your home and garden -- especially with your wonderful French influenced ideas!!
Aw love hearing that! Actually the plants would probably love the humidity! They also really love a lot of sun. At least 6 hours a day for most vegetables it what they need. I would check with your local plant store first to find out what varieties do well in your area. I didn't do this the first time and tried to plant things like broccoli which need more shade and cold. After doing more research I realized it was tomatoes and peppers, and other heat lovers I needed! So do check first :)
Entertaining With Beth I absolutely love your garden. It's so nice to look at and so organized. I totally agree that homegrown tastes so much better than storebought. I grow peas and MANY other plants in my garden and when every friends come over every single pea diassapears. They are sweet and have a delicious crunch to them. Keep doing everything you do. I love your channel.❤👍
When I finish school, and get a job, and buy my own home I definitely will grow my own produce garden as well. This video has definitely inspired me even more :)
Hi Beth, this is such an inspirational video - I loved watching it! We started growing herbs in our back yard this summer, and I can see what you mean about the mint, it's hogging the entire garden! I hope I can grow all my own fruits and veggies one day - this video is full of great tips!
You post the right recipe at the right time EVERYTIME , I had a project to bring in French food you post Beth's easy crepes , I'm on vacation at a family's house in Italy & you post this ? Lol :)
This is my first time to subscribed, and I found all of ur videos are really interesting,i will try to make all those recipes that i choosed, God Bless you Madam Beth.
Hi Beth, I love your garden. I'm in Palm Springs, and having some success with certain herbs and veggies. This late in the summer, my tomatoes are cracking from the extreme heat, so next year I am planting a new variety that does well in the southwest. I don't get the crop you do, but my main tomato plant that has been a good provider is 3 years old!!! My most surprising plants are 3 pineapples. We also have fig, kumquats, and olives trees. This year I added brussels spouts. Frank
Your garden is absolutely awesome. I have to admire other people's garden because I don't have a green thumb. Most plants R.I.P around me lol maybe it'll change for me down the line :) Thanks Beth!
Yes that happened to me too! My oregano was so out of control I had to cut it way back! :) And then eventually just had to pull it out because it was strangling my poor cucumbers! :)
Can you please make more videos on setting up irrigation of vegetables garden? I think your video is most informative on youtube, I was so inspired by your video that I'll be starting my vege garden this year. Thank you so much.
Oh brussels sprouts! I really want to try those but thought it was too hot up here?!. But if you are able to grow them in the desert, well then there is hope for me! :)
Awe I know I love that channel too. It's just been hard for me to afford to keep both channels going. But I'm thinking of adding little Live Stream videos on that channel so at least you guys could keep up with what's happening out here and learn more gardening tips :)
Beth, your garden is absolutely beautiful! I haven't had much luck with growing a garden. The only thing that survives is my basil and I put that plant through so much! haha I am completely inspired to have another try at gardening.
Aw a garden is a great dream :) Especially for those like us who love to cook! It's like having your own little grocery store :) Your channel looks great! Looking forward to checking it out and learning more about Vietnamese cooking :)
Hi Beth! I love your videos and your garden looks so beautiful! I'm thinking of starting my own vegetable garden so I'd love to see more of your gardening videos and tips. It would be so helpful!
Awe Beth this left me with a very watery mouth :-)))) so delis! It also reminds me of my childhood back home where my grandma had such an neat and organized garden and we always ate fresh organic food :-))) Thank you so much for sharing! Next KIN party = at your house! It's decided :-) hahaha ;)))
This is so amazingly beautiful. My parents just moved into a new house, and they want to cover the back with concrete! I'm going to convince them to let me plant a vegetable garden! I live in apartments but I'll definitely take care of the plants at their house!!
Well, that depends. Do you live in a place where you get snow? If not you can definitely squeeze in some herbs and tomatoes now (cherry toms are quicker,go for those) and look for plants that will mature in 60 days or less. Like lettuce and radishes or cucumbers. All good bets! :)
You can always take the stems and place them in a jar of water and keep them in the fridge. I've seen it done before and it seems to keep the life of the herbs!
Theres nobody in this world that inspires me as much as you. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love you! You are so perfect at EVERYTHING. how do you have so much knowledge!!
No matter how long this video remains on TH-cam I will always enjoy watching it. Thank you Beth! I love cooking!
LOL! Aww so glad you enjoy it! Yes I love this video because it really shows the garden at its peak! :)
Aw so nice to hear that :) All you awesome subscribers inspire me A LOT! :) xo
:) And I really do pinch myself everyday that our little dream came true and we have this beautiful garden here to share with our children and enjoy :) There's nothing like seeing a personal dream come true! :)
Aw you are so sweet :) leaving me nice comments like that, is what I call a "digital hug" :) xx
Yes we have seen runners pop out of the strawberry pots :) As for the design, I was really inspired by the formal french gardens of the 18th century. This is so inspiring, Beth :) I'm just 18 but when I get married and have a family in the far future, I want to have a garden that's as beautiful as yours. I love it!
this is like one of the bed-time fairytales mom used to read to me at bedtime. i love it!
Yes it really can come down to the soil. Every year (spring/fall) put down a mix of compost and fresh potting soil, and some worm castings and just keep doing that and your soil will improve! Beth, I think your garden is beautiful. I love the idea of being able to see it from your kitchen window. God bless you and your family.
Beth it is like you have read my mind. I have been waiting for this.
Aw thanks! Yes you will love growing your own garlic. So handy! And those marigolds works like a charm :) Best of luck!!
Aw great! These little tomatoes are so sweet! They are just the best :) So glad Mom liked it! :)
You've just knocked my socks off!! I thought my zen garden was fancy- this garden of yours is an inspiration!
Wow! I'm re-watching your videos and I must say,it's even better the second time!!
Aw how great! You are so lucky in England with all that rain, I bet you don't have to water much? In fact we put the gravel down because we couldn't afford to water a lawn! The gravel is so low maintenance and this way, we keep the water bill in check and spend it on the plants that we can actually eat! :)
This is the most wonderful and inspiring video! Thank you for sharing your tips and ticks and your gorgeous garden.

Hi Beth, I recently found your channel and subscribed to it. I recently moved to Jamaica and decided to grow a rooftop garden. This will be the first garden for this city girl. Oh yeah! Thank you for all the gardening tips. Love your garden!

Now when you say anchovies do you mean like the whole grilled ones? :) Or just the canned ones? Have you seen my ceasar salad recipe :) That's a god one that features anchovie paste! :)
Ha! That is so true and my thoughts exactly who wants to look at a hot mess? The formality of a garden really keeps it in check! :)
Now this is my kind of Garden when I have my house ready.............thank u Beth you inspire me a lot.
Oh my goodness. You are an inspiration Beth! What a beautiful garden! Thank you for the tips.
Looks like a dream garden 😍 and you were able to explain things very well.

Oh my goodness, your garden is heavenly!!! Love your layout.
Such a beautiful, functional and healthy garden. Truly inspired...
OMGosh Beth! Can you please provide more videos like these on your garden and how to garden for beginners? I grow peas and MANY other plants in my garden and when every friends come over every single pea diassapears. They are sweet and have a delicious crunch to them. Keep doing everything you do. I love your channel.❤👍
Beautiful! Nothing better than fresh summer tomatoes. Consider growing small berries, lake currants. I'm sure your daughters will love them
When I finish school, and get a job, and buy my own home I definitely will grow my own produce garden as well. This video has definitely inspired me even more :)
Thank you for your uploads!!!! I'm starting a balcony organic garden of my own and all kinds of advice on the matter are greatly appreciated!
Hi Beth, this is such an inspirational video - I loved watching it! We started growing herbs in our back yard this summer, and I can see what you mean about the mint, it's hogging the entire garden! I hope I can grow all my own fruits and veggies one day - this video is full of great tips!

This is literally thee coolest video I've ever seen! I hope I'm like you when I grow up, Beth :)
Oh yes of course, both would do very well in pots! Just fertilize them every 2 months or so with a good tomato/pepper fertilizer :)
you have my dream garden!! I have a mini garden in my apartment but it looks like nothing compared to this, beautiful!

Entertaining With Beth Oh okay thats totally understandable. Live streams are a great idea! Looking forward!!
Your garden is absolutely stunning! I will definitely be growing my own garlic and thanks for the marigold tip!
Oh that sounds so lovely Laura :) Basil is just my favorite :)
This is so amazingly beautiful. My parents just moved into a new house, and they want to cover the back with concrete! I'm going to convince them to let me plant a vegetable garden! I live in apartments but I'll definitely take care of the plants at their house!!
Wow. I really enjoyed this. So nice to get you into your beautiful garden.
you just showed my dreamgarden, thank you very much for this amazing video :)
Sure it's a Boos Cutting board. I just LOVE them! They are the best. You can find them on Amazon for a good price :) Enjoy!
