@@takaakiyamada5451sorry but not sorry. The work of the Japanese who created the anime is recognized, but in the West they had to sell a long series, which, as in Japan, needs to generate income from advertising, Robotech alone and the The other 2 stories that had nothing to do with each other did not offer anything attractive for a television station to pick up, Macek did the sales work, if he changed the story and invented that it was a story that continued after Robotech, only in this way could we learn about the history in the West itself that could have been forgotten and we would not be talking about it. Macek's sin and success was that. And the other great success was the song "we will win!" She gave more push to the final battle and it remained more engraved in the collective imagination of those of us who saw it in the West than hearing it over and over again "my boyfriend is a pilot"

Absolutely the same for me. Robotech and Star Blazers were my childhood, but this scene from Robotech still gives me goosebumps. I remember being awed by that moment of Rick unleashing everything he has, and moved by seeing friend and foe fighting along side. The sight of that soldier and kid on earth dying has been burned into my brain since childhood (so glad they didn't cut that). To this day, despite advances in animation and live-action effects, I find this one of the most epic battle scenes in anything, partly due to nostalgia I'm sure, but also because of the story and character work for the series it served as the culmination to.
Yeah, seriously. This whole little montage is so damn good. I also get goosebumps. I think a lot of it had to do with the timing. It basically happens during a very climactic point in the series, where everyone's giving all they've got and it's not just like minor skirmishes in various locations. However, it's not technically the 'Last Battle' of the series as this video title implies, but I won't spoil that since it helps to segue into the following season that takes place many years later. This moment is also purposely made to be sort of shocking when Minmei and Kyle kiss, not only because they are cousins, but also since the Zentradi haven't seen any direct displays of affection and it startles a society that has never known anything but war. The battle also technically causes some of the most heavy casualties to Zentradi forces as well, as it's one of the few fights that directly impacts their mothership and battle cruisers. And all that aside, pretty excellent localization too and it's very memorable. It's really brilliant writing for a series, and Robotech has only gotten better as I've gotten older and can fully appreciate all the thoughtful dialogue and complex situations that the series dives into, like several deaths and how deeply they impact people, a love triangle, the consequences of deep and bitter jealousy, enemies getting to know and love each other, and so much more.

Okay, I've *just* finished watching the *original* Japanese Macross series *and* Do You Remember Love?, and I can tell you that in the TV version Minmay not only *did* perform "My Boyfriend is a Pilot", but her entire pantheon of songs for the final battle - it was a full-on concert. Here in the Robotech timeline/universe she performs this song, "We Will Win" and this song alone. (I hired out the VHS of this series of episodes *a lot* as a kid ... and as a teenager). Also, I particularly like what the guitar does at 2:11 ~ 2:13 (It's unfortunate that the video seems to skip immediately after)
well I would hit other songs too, like thunderstruck, and long road to the top, also Im proud to be an american by lee greenwood, america by neal dimond though the song is about immagration, it is also a testament to why those come here for a new dream, a legal chance at the pie , a testament to what allows us and enables us to be a great nation if we so choose to try to take the mantel, and take the challenge, dry our oppressed eyes wipe the sweat off, and roll up our sleeves and draw our sword, bow, or hand on throttle or tool in hand whatever you are going to use, and stare down the mountain in front of us, or the 1000's of troops, or the fat paunchy old bully that looks down on you, doubts you, thinks you cant do it since you are not pureblood, rich, or have as much education, and go at them screamming at a full run, and take the challenge to the woodshed and give it the biggest lesson of its life as you give it the worst beating of its life, or jump into the ring and go to to toe with the impossable and problably play some other songs that I have strong emotions to, like dies ire, or the day of wrath in latin, breakout by swing out sister, celebation by kool and the gang, thriller, sara by starship, sail away by styx, and some racing music, by the beachboys and jan and dean, oh and ride like the wind, think we're gonna make it by christopher cross, and born to run, born in the usa , and dancing in the dark by the bruce sprinstine, and some born to be wild by steppenwolf, and problably one more time and better stronger faster by daft punk for good mesure, something to get my passion going like a blast furnace and then get myself chomping at the bit with a little happy music, and maybe even thriller as its about struggling against the zombies and gouls, as well as the starwars march at the beginning.

The soundtrack is really what gives the Robotech dub of Macross a different feel. Almost to the point, that if you watch them back to back, it feels like two different shows.
This is sad. I remember loving this when I was 12. But now that I'm an adult and I've seen the original Japanese, I find Reba West's voice grating. Which makes me sad, because I truly did love this as a kid. Another thing I am noticing is how the song in Japan was a love song, while in Robotech it's all about winning a battle. :/
You're talking about 2 very different anime products. The love song, Do You Remember Love was from the Macross movie, Macross Super Dimensional Fortress: Do You Remember Love, that they made as a re-imaging of the original Japanese Macross series. The Macross series itself did not have the love song nor any real key song for that matter. That came later in the movie. This song, We Will Win, sung by Reba West, is from the Robotech series that was made by combining the Macross series with 2 other similar anime series.
Vagabond1997 I wasn't talking about "Do You Remember Love?" .. I meant the original japanese version of Superdimensional Fortress Macross, which is what the first third of Robotech was based on. I was comparing "We Will Win" with "My Boyfriend is a Pilot" (which is very much a love song, not a battle song).
cmsahe She's singing of a collective love of humans for each other, not romantic love: "With strong hearts that beat as one, Watch us soar, And with love that conquers all We'll win this battle, This last battle, We will win "
I think you are getting the movie version DYRL confused with Robotech. The movie version, DYRL, was a re-imaging or reboot of the original SDF Macross series, not Robotech. Also Mari Iijima was not available when the went to make Robotech so they got Reba West instead because her voice sounded somewhat like Mari Iijima. Robotech itself was created by combining it with 2 other similar animes that were "sanitized" for the American market. As Robotech, it was also long enough to meet the American broadcast networks requirements and well as the "censorship" requirements to be broadcast in prime time slots where kids could see it.

Bringing back distant memories of watching Toonami in the afternoons after school
Also, I particularly like what the guitar does at 2:11 ~ 2:13 (It's unfortunate that the video seems to skip immediately after)
I love this song if alien invade our earth I'll join the air force and listen to this song
well I would hit other songs too, like thunderstruck, and long road to the top, also Im proud to be an american by lee greenwood, america by neal dimond though the song is about immagration, it is also a testament to why those come here for a new dream, a legal chance at the pie , a testament to what allows us and enables us to be a great nation if we so choose to try to take the mantel, and take the challenge, dry our oppressed eyes wipe the sweat off, and roll up our sleeves and draw our sword, bow, or hand on throttle or tool in hand whatever you are going to use, and stare down the mountain in front of us, or the 1000's of troops, or the fat paunchy old bully that looks down on you, doubts you, thinks you cant do it since you are not pureblood, rich, or have as much education, and go at them screamming at a full run, and take the challenge to the woodshed and give it the biggest lesson of its life as you give it the worst beating of its life, or jump into the ring and go to to toe with the impossable
and problably play some other songs that I have strong emotions to, like dies ire, or the day of wrath in latin, breakout by swing out sister, celebation by kool and the gang, thriller, sara by starship, sail away by styx, and some racing music, by the beachboys and jan and dean, oh and ride like the wind, think we're gonna make it by christopher cross, and born to run, born in the usa , and dancing in the dark by the bruce sprinstine, and some born to be wild by steppenwolf, and problably one more time and better stronger faster by daft punk for good mesure,
something to get my passion going like a blast furnace and then get myself chomping at the bit with a little happy music, and maybe even thriller as its about struggling against the zombies and gouls, as well as the starwars march at the beginning.
One of the best song ever. At 50 yo, i get so emotional when i listen it.
We need this to strengthen us more than ever now adays. We WILL WIN over covid19!!
I got the box set and rewatching this to keep me going thru this quarantine
You are now the minority compare to the doomer mindset that took over most of people
update: we did :-)
This still gives me chills to this day. One of the best sci-fi battles of all times, IMO (anime or live action), because the stakes were so well established. Rick hitting the brakes and getting rocked back in his seat is my favourite moment for some reason, but that's followed closely by the more understandable Dolza's final expression. :)
Brings a tear to my eye
gracias ROBOTECH 👍👍🤘🤘
🎼WE WILL WIN 🤘
The best series, number 1 up robotech. The song super beautiful. from Venezuela. VALENCIA.
What good memories, my favorite saga, excellent.
Damn!!!
Take me back to the 80’s!!!😭
epic and awesome the first series it's an absolutely masterpiece
Who is looking at this during Coronavirus lockdown? Will we win??
Saludos

I loved watching this on tv, taped every day and watched when I got home from school.
This song inspires me to accomplish anything
My eyes are crying out with tears
10/2017 - Currently rewatching it on Netflix !!!!!
one of the most epic scene in the history of animation. It is not the Japanese pictures that create this legendary story but Harmony Gold's genius adaptation that makes it.
We are LOOONG overdue for a Macross game.
Buenos tiempos viendo robotech!
Excelente...
Life is only what we choose to make it.
Let's just take it,
Let us be free.
We can find the glory we all dream of.
And with our love, we can win.
As the battle goes on we feel stronger.
How much longer
Must this go on?
Each and every day we dream of winning
and beginning a new life.
(Refrain) Still, we must fight or face defeat.
We must stand tall and not retreat.
With our strength we'll find the might.
There's no fight we can't fight together,
All together,
We can win.
Blessed with strong hearts that beat as one,
Watch us soar.
And with love that conquers all
We'll win this battle, this last battle.
We will win... We must win...
We will win... We can win...
We can win...
Goosebumps, still after so many years.

Saludos

GI.Joe, Transformers, and Robotech the best cartoons when I was growing up.
This song really touches the soul. Pure 80s greatness.
The best episode ever! The DYRL version with the Javanese song is very well done too, but a very close second.

Max and Maria, back to back it$ epic!
Robotech (and macross) episode 27 is the best and more epic episode i have seen of a anime
The soundtrack is really what gives the Robotech dub of Macross a different feel. Almost to the point, that if you watch them back to back, it feels like two different shows.
i hope this song is in the new movie 👀
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I haven't heard this song in so long that I love hearing it.
"And with love that conquers all..."
cmsahe She's singing of a collective love of humans for each other, not romantic love:
"With strong hearts that beat as one,
Watch us soar,
And with love that conquers all
We'll win this battle,
This last battle,
We will win "
Gran serie en nuestra época.....
I loved this scene fron robotech!
It is still awesome robotech. Classic
Probably the best time on watching series
Best Song !
