    Kerr gets discredited so often as a coach but they would not be as successful without the motion/triangle offense hybrid he implemented. The year before he was hired, the Warriors ran an iso/PNR offense that was dead last in made passes and in his first year, they were ranked #1 in assists, points, and #2 in offensive rating. Dude is underrated if anything

      @yourfavoritepizzaboy -
      It still goes back to having the right kinds of players on your team who believes in the system they are being coached to adjust their skills to. The Bulls' teams trusted each other and the system no matter if they were up by 20 or down by 20.
      1 rouge player on the floor can and will disrupt the remaining 4, causing, to include the other players on the bench who might find themselves on the court with that 1 person later on. The only time Jordan purposely went off system was when there was an obvious breakdown in the play or if he waived off a play because he had something to prove to an opposing player.
      But if you have a player like Jordan who has the capacity to do that, and the team still wins, you can sometimes overlook it. The Laker's players did not have that type of confidence in Kobe, and Lebron has always been in a "what have you done for me lately" in the minds of his teammates.

      Kerr implemented a great system that allowed Steph to become MVP, Klay and Draymond to be All-Stars. A beautiful team basketball with a good defense. I think people started to underrate him when they acquired KD, which kind of changed their ball movement system to a little more iso oriented. In the end a great coach and person. Love little Stevie :)

    Kerr is one of those 90s guys who were tiny, don't look like much and to be honest wasn't much, but was as tough as they come. In one play in this series (i think in this game), he sets a screen for Kukoc and Malone, who was guarding Toni, comes over and just knocks him off his feet, crashing onto the ground. Kerr gets up, shakes off the fact that he got man-handled by a dude twice his size, and goes to play defense. No fuss, no crying to the ref.
    Keep in mind this was the guy who annoyed Mike so much in the practice that MJ ended up punching him, after which Jordan respected him enough to set him up for the last shot. Kerr may have been small, didn't really have a lot of talent, but that guy had the heart of a champion.

      Yet another pretend to know-it-all trying to tell revisionist history?
      I asked you who Jordan's teammates were before Phil jackson took over the reigns as head coach of the Bulls, you were able to only come up with two names in those 4 seasons: Orlando Woolridge and George Gervin. Thank you for inadvertently proving my point!!!
      May I remind you that Jordan was only teammates with Woolridge for his rookie season. In his second year in the league, MJ missed most of the season due to a foot injury and was barely on the court with Woolridge. By Jordan's third season Woolridge was no longer on the Bull's roster.
      George Gervin was at the end of his career when he joined the Bulls at the tender age of 35. In his first season and only season as a Chicago Bull, Gervin average 16 points per game. Again, that was the season when Jordan got injured, so they were barely on the court together.
      At the end of that season, Gervin retired at the age of 36.
      So, I will ask you again, who are Jordan's stellar teammates, that he could count on on offense, and should have passed the ball to before Phil Jackson took over the reigns.

      this is the one Detail I enjoyed uniquely on the triangle offense - Kerr is showing us specifically moments when the triangle motion and spacing disintegrates against Utah's great defense (they're able to get to those 1v2 defensive situations) and Michael has to bailout to Pippen in the corner or Rodman has to pull up and it's not an easy pass/shoot situation. Shows that you need a great team that is willing to play the game instead of going to their bag all the time because when Michael finally gets into his bag, it's totally out of expectations for what the offense is supposed to look like from the tape.

      There was one game, can't remember the year or who they were playing against, but by the end of the 1st quarter, Rodman actually had more points than Jordan and Scottie. I believed Rodman scored 2 back to back 3pts from the corner, missing another, scored a point off of a rebound, and a few points from the line, and you could clearly see before the start of the 2nd Jordan was pissed.
      The rest of the game Rodman stopped hogging the scene.

      Yeah. Imagine Pip missed 38 games, Rodman missed some, and also Kukoc... And a 35 year old MJ had to carry them to 62 wins. It clearly showed in that game 6 how great MJ was when it came down crunch time... He played for 43 minutes and scored 45. The rest of the team scored 33.

    Im going to leave it here,
    1998 was touted as bulls vs the overhyped lakers final. People say lakers beat bulls in regular season but then again, its regular season. A loss doesnt put bulls lower in their eastern table placement. Yeah yeah yeah so kobe torched mike and pippen, big whoop, jazz swept lakers 4-0 . Too easy.
    And bulls beat jazz. In a hard fought battle. If anyone thinks that bulls lakers final would favour lakers, think again. Lakers had to call in Phil jackson to win a 3 peat. Even so, the lakers battled easy eastern opponents for their 3 peat. The hype that jazz brought in 97 and 98 was real, that team was a menace. You cant stop malone from scoring and you cant stop stockton from his assist to the team. By the time bulls were gone, jazz were gone too, they were as old as bulls. They entered the finals as old and experienced team. Would bulls win 4th if they stayed one more year? NO. 3 takes a toll on mike. Look at pippen, with the bad back, he would not be ready for 4th.(50 games) Rodman got worse by the day, his age caught up to him, you can see it in his Lakers stint .

  • @paulmkz
    @paulmkz ปีที่แล้ว

    I think in 98 jazz screwed up. Hornacek was good but defense wise was a bad matchup vs bulls. He was too small and slow to guard MJ or Pippen. Stockton can't guard them cus he wud of gotten in foul trouble . He could only guard Harper. Jazz should of started Morris and Shandan Anderson over Hornacek and had Hornacek as a 6th man to guard Kerr when he was in the game.
