The main issue is here that Ludkins did not ring fence money paid by customers up front for grading. He decided to keep customer money for whatever reason and not to pay PSA. Then when PSA slowed down accepting submissions they started to unravel. This is mismanagement of money which did not belong to Ludkins, they were holding it on trust for their customers to provide to PSA according to their bulk terms. PsA duly graded the cards, but Ludkins failed to pay them. They breached this basic tenant of consumer rights. I have submissions from Feb and March 2021 that have according to PSA been sitting with them for almost a year because Ludkins failed to pay them. Happy to provide all my receipts and email trails on this. I also have emails from Ludkins until as recently as October 2nd telling me PSA had not yet graded my cards! Utter bull. Oh and yes Ludkins deleted the XLS file prior to this announcement (as they did for all customers) which contained details of which cards were submitted (I can literally show you the Google drive which says deleted by Ludkins). Basically they were using that as a last ditch attempt to barging with PSA. Oh and also, deleting client data without client consent is an offence under the GDPR here in the UK. Super shady and ignorant actions by a company that should know better. It also makes it harder for clients to sue Ludkins for potential losses. Truly awful. @rattlepokemon please DM me and I'll happily share my files. Because these guys need to understand just how badly they've affected people and how far away from complying with English law they are.

Yeah, I had no idea that Ludkins didn't pay PSA in advance. In my opinion, Ludkins was 'robbing Peter to pay Paul'. Almost like a ponzi scheme, they required the income from new customers to pay the PSA bill for current customers. I guess the problem was that during the pandemic, any money they had in the bank was used to keep the business running but they couldn't take any new money as PSA were closed.
My guess is that when they reopened for submissions, Ludkins hoped to gain enough money to pay the PSA bill but this failed. Ludkins claimed to get 20,000-40,000 submissions a month, I don't know how true this is but I believe PSA hasn't been paid for January-May 2021 so we could be talking a very large sum of money.

My cards for my submission with Ludkins was registered with PSA back in January 2021 nearly two years now. saved my email receipts. This was my first ever card submission and wish I did more research before hand. Right now Ludkins have moved files that are usually shared with customers over google docs into a shared Bin so we cannot even access that anymore..........Yup.

  • @benwillis5840
    @benwillis5840 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I emailed PSA (the real PSA, not UK) back in early 2021 and asked them about submitting from the UK and they replied:
"Graded Gem and Ludkins are both PSA Authorized dealers, however they do not grade the cards at their facility - they are a third-party submitter and they will send your order to PSA on your behalf. I recommend using one of our authorized dealers, as they do abide by our customer bill of rights."
So that's what I did, I sent via Ludkins as they looked the more professional at the time and there was no negative feedback. I felt it would be safer to use an experienced middleman rather than put my cards in a parcel, send to the USA and hope it gets there!
I paid Ludkins and have kept in contact with them over the past 18 months. I have receipts and copies of email exchanges which I've sent to PSA but I'm happy to share them if you would like to see them.
Ludkins have deleted all documents from the shared Google drive where they put records of what cards we sent and when they were sent to PSA.

If you watch James’s videos you see him trying to answer questions to UK based customers. James basically got a workload for 2 years and had to essentially do it himself. look my situation, first they broke our deal i send cards to them when they was part of EU also second sub i made with them i send i sent via they Paris office they need to solve imports and that was main reason i go with them, after 2 year of pain and stress they told me i need to pay imports, because they late 2 years in mean time they close Paris office (it means if they work faster my subs will back with Paris office and i will not pay import taxes) and now i need to pay them they say sorry to me and thats it , so they broke our deal and i cant do nothing about that, then 3-4 weeks ago ludkins send me message that my cards are in his office in UK and i need to pay extra value to psa and i pay it then I send them shipping info they told me someone will back to you but from that point they stop answer on my messages, then 3 weeks after this hanky panky thing start to going on, then PSA ask as to fill form and most of us dont have number of submission as ludkins hide it, so if i want to fill PSA form I need to fill it wthout that number and then PSA will take long time to find my cards, so what happend next is that Ludkins answer on they facebook wall that cards wich are now in his office will be shippend next week to customers, so tell me what to do now ? where are my cards in PSA or in Ludkins office )) i eaven send Nat Turner instagram message and he told me that he do not know what to do, i ask Ludkins on facebook wall did my cards really in your office as you guys told me 3 weeks ago or not? , still no answer

A while back, I won a TCG booster box that was auctioned by Ludkins on eBay. I paid right away. A week later, no shipping update or response to my messages inquiring about shipping status. After a month, I opened up a case with eBay and within a few days, someone from Ludkins responded and said it was already shipped and they would look into it. A week later, that person responded saying they were waiting for a plastic case to ship it in. Fortunately, I did receive this booster a week after they finally shipped it.
My guess is that this booster box sold for a lot less than they wanted, and they did not want to cancel the order. Instead, they were hoping I would cancel it, to avoid selling fees. When I opened up the case, they had no choice but to ship it out. Why did I think this? There was a PSA card that sold a min after the booster box that was shipped out and received positive feedback - this was the only way I was able to trace a timestamp for it to compare my item to.
I then did some research and found that they were a middleman grading service for PSA. I also heard about other middleman services that had trouble with PSA or went bankrupt, etc. Now this. I’m not surprised. I had a feeling they were having financial issues.

To your question why would you grade a card at all if you don't want to fill out a form.
As a European Its because credit cards aren't such a commonality here (Which is the only way to pay for submisions) plus the import fees can be a hassle to have to deal with.
Middlemen just offer a very convenient alternative way.
Next to that it avoids having to pay for grading companies memberships.

Apparently they were sending CGC subs under Ludkins UK, submissions that were coming from the United States no less. Some folks have been out cards since Summer. I imagine people who sent orders through Ludkins US might also be impacted. I have no idea why these two services were streamlining their submissions to this UK branch, but it's all sketchy as hell. Why is psa leaking these out slowly? Well, they don’t take payment until the cards enter grading. So in a year from now when the stonkdog69’er grading modern cards shut down; psa has people on the hook for all these orders and has guaranteed income for several quarters.

I had bulk I sent in Feb 2021 take 18 months, but PSA had been transparent with reporting their wait times and if PSA is saying their longest wait is for cards submitted 6 months after yours, you should have been asking questions months ago.

Most people do not make companies with the express purpose of being bought out by a larger company, so that quip didn't make much sense. It's far better/more profitable to just attach yourself to a company like PSA as an intermediary, but obviously there are draw backs, as you can see here. Primarily, it leaves you open to potential mismanagement of money due to delays caused by a 3rd party (PSA) where you are not sending back the products the customer paid to for an extended period of time, or if a 3rd party closes submissions at lower tiers drying up your revenue streams, which means you either have to go bankrupt, touch customer money or sell off assets/mass layoffs to keep afloat.
Unfortunate situation overall, but honestly this is what I would expect considering the situation and atmosphere the last 2 years for larger operations. Middle man companies that are solo operations could have weathered this no problem since they don't need to pay themselves jack shit.

@@HeyJoshyJosh yes, of course. But youre not getting the point here. The majority in EU still collect english cards. EU is just as big as US when it comes to collectibles, we have to pay import fees, handling fees, extreme shipping prices from the US, wait an extra 1-2 months on shipping, we have a much higher chance of loosing our Mail when shipping overseas etc. Having a PSA Office in the UK would ONLY benefit people in the UK, since UK is not a European country we still have the same issues as we have when sending to US.
