    I will be stealing the lever levelling trick and the bartape over the shoulder move for future builds.
    Great job, the bike looks ace!

    Great job! A guy who quit riding because he thought he was too old gave me a Ritchey Logic Breakaway. It rides just as good as a regular non-breakaway Ritchey. I was pleasantly surprised. I used to own a bike shop and the build quality can make a big difference in how a bike rides. This was really well done. The only thing missing is the Butthole Surfers blasting on the sound system.

    It’s funny how this is an old school build when it’s not that old at all. Just goes to show, when something is right….it’s right. Doesn’t need changing. Curious what skewer you used with the CK rear hub. Mine squeaks. Apparently a Dura Ace one is the fix.
    Love watching great bikes come back to life like this

      They are Salsa Titanium skewers if that helps.

      It honestly felt like cheating when I was building it. On new bikes.now, it feels like engineers are going for engineering KOM's every time they release a new bike.

    I really like old steel frames. most people now prefers carbon or allu.

    Nice build. I have the same bike in the same colour. Absolutely love it but now thinking of changing it for a Ritchey disc frame. I was going to have a bespoke build but I really like this frame and how well it rides. I might just send it off for a custom paint job though.

    Are you planning to keep that many spacers under the stem? I had a Ritchey dealer berate me up and down about running 40mm of spacers on my Road Logic, because Ritchey says 30mm max under the stem. I DO run an 80mm compression plug though.

    • @SeeYouUpTheRoad
      @SeeYouUpTheRoad 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Berate eh? That’s a bit of an exaggeration don’t you think? I asked you a question of how long you were running 40mm. It’s industry spec and Ritchey calls out specifically no more 30mm spacers.

    Beautiful build. After you dip the chain in the wax, do you wipe off any excess? Or do you just let it drip for a few minutes until it dries? I’ve never waxed a chain before and I’m interested in trying it and I don’t know all the details yet.

    • @chadshanks5409
      @chadshanks5409  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just let it dry and then install. You will get some wax dander that will flake off after the first ride as it loosens up, I usually just hit that with the air compressor later...it's not bad though.

    How do you like working with the Ritchey bikes. I'm really interested in getting an Outback. I just love what Tom Ritchey does.

    • @chadshanks5409
      @chadshanks5409  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's great. Everything with Ritchey products is typically not a let down. This frame used all standard size products...headset, bb, seatpost....etc. Get one!

    There is not a single video here in YT where a mechanic actually check if the crankset preload is correct. You all just tight the preload and do not even take an extra second to check if there is play on the BB. Then you see people online crying that their 300 dollars BB died in 3 months...... Check preload!!!!! same goes for Headset!

    • @chadshanks5409
      @chadshanks5409  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I check every single build I do and have done since Shimano designed their 2 piece crank. If I put everything inside in these videos they would all be more than four hours long so a lot is edited out.
