Hey there, my name is Kaizouwar but you can call me Kaizou for short! I run a Let's Play channel that covers a huge variety of games like JRPGs, fighting games, and occasion oddball game for fun but I also dabble in the BlazBlue series in which i discuss the lore, interesting news about the series, or just the random video.

Now it's even worse cause we at least have to wait for them to remake 2 more Sky games and the 2 Crossbell Arc games for them to be up to par, but then Cold Steel 1/2 becomes the outdated ones lmao
It's an endless cycle
Time truly is a cruel mistress 😭
About that how would a SC remake work see when Falcom of Japan made SC via the KD HD remaster of the game ON the PS2 while the P3 version of SC was a SINGLE Physical disc long it still gave you a CHANGE FROM DISC 1 to DISC 2 message as soon as you started SC's 4th chapter so SC HD Kai still required disc changes despite not actually having a 2nd Physical disc.
Because of that I'm not even sure how a SC remake would work on at least the Switch itself even the VITA version of SC still required a DISC 1 to DISC 2 change despite having the game itself on a SINGLE Vita Cartridge.
most likely the publisher change is cuz NISA is already running on full capacity they are currently in the translation for the newest 2 trails games so sure they could do it but eighter Sky or one of the new ones would come out later so another one it is
That makes sense
That and XSeed games originally made FC to the 3rd in English but MOST of them left the company and went to Gungho the ones that are making the upcoming Lunar remakes of the 2 PS1 versions.
Why the shift from NIS America to GungHo? The localization company formerly known as Xseed, now Marvelous, has only about 15 total employees in the US. NIS America is bigger,, but still is a small business. When Falcom switched to NIS America, they got more marketing, such as videos on the IGN youtube channel, which was not something that was happening before. GungHo is much, much bigger than either Marvelous or NIS America, GungHo has over 300 US employees (according to a quick internet search) meaning much more of a marketing budget and much more institutional pull in the JRPG industry in the US.
I strongly suspect that GungHo taking on this project is a strong sign for the Sky the first remake. If it wasn't going to do big numbers, I doubt a studio as large as GungHo would be interested in publishing it. Just in terms of size of the publisher this is a huge step up. GungHo worldwide has over 1,500 employees, and had close to $800 million total revenue in 2023. Marvelous USA and NIS America don't come close to those numbers.
The question remains: does this signal Falcom switching localization publishing rights to GungHo for other games? Probably not. Sky first chapter will be the first ever concurrent worldwide release in Falcom's history. Concurrent worldwide releases take up a lot of money and a lot of logistical overhead. Sky First chapter remake is a massive risk for Falcom, and having a large marketing budget and the logistical resources of a larger company will help ensure Sky First Chapter is a success. That's my take on it, anyway.
