Definitely. Almost all falcom games are on pc. Even DRM free through gog. Falcom clearly wants to preserve their games and PC is the way to go. Plus the graphics in the trailer obviously aren't from the switch build. Unless it's switch 2.
I mean if every other modern NF title already made it to PC, then this should. Only issue Im worried is that NIS will probably butcher the localization like they did with CS
Falcom started off as a PC game developer and they have put all their other games on PC, so I'd say that platform is close to their heart. I would assume it is released on Switch, PC and PS5 like always.
The only way this game isn’t going to be multiplatform (at least eventually) is if Nintendo publishes it themselves. And I don’t think that’s going to happen.
@@Kraftium is that right? I thought Nintendo only published SMT V in Europe. But good point, I have no doubt that it will release on other platforms as well.
The problem is that the trails series did not sell well in Japan on ps4/5 . The falcon’s ceo said last year that they will change platform and do games on the platform who sells the most and it the Nintendo switch … so ,right now ,it will not come to pc and PlayStation. I’m sad about it but who knows ? It can change in the future
Plus with the Switch 2 coming A Switch/Switch 2 combo is gonna be massive way more than PS4/PS5 too Now I DO hope it comes for the PC at least, IDC personally since I have a switch but being available on PC too will help many also access this beauty
Trails in the Sky the First is best remake announcement has ever seen and I can't wait to see Younger Agate and Tita in Sky Chapter and this is dream come true for a biggest Trails Fans. I am hyped for 2025.
We're reaching the point where being caught up with the JP release gives us insight to the benefits of being behind. Aside from Ys X, Falcom has basically always released a game on 1 platform at launch in Japan with others coming later, and now we're probably going to have to deal with this too. That's just the way they do things. They've at least shown that they want to be able to put games on multiple platforms at launch at some point. The issue is I don't see how they do it without help or outsourcing; they just don't have enough staff. But yeah if *the 1st* is stuck on Switch at launch then it will be a particular sore spot because the entire future of the series in the West was singlehandedly saved by the PC port of Sky FC in 2014. Also not having it everywhere at launch will be a significant damper on overall launch hype around the ecosystems; many will be less interested X months later when it finally comes to their platform.
@@statesminds Only if you don't market it on other platforms. Otherwise you're potentially getting multiple sales from people who waited for the game, prefer other platforms but do own the Switch (which is me btw lol).
@@Shazam1998 No one said anything about being 10 years behind. 1 year behind seems to be the sweet spot, unless Falcom can work with other groups to simultaneously develop other ports in the future.
This game needs to release in PS/PC. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing againts Switch players and I myself have one, but this is such a huge defining point in the Trails series and Falcom themselves. It would be so irrational to release it only in the one modern platform that doesn't even have ALL of the games (CS1/CS2) here in the west. I hope they confirm more platforms as time goes, even if it means that it will be initially a timed exclusive. C'mon Falcom, don't mess this one up.
Yeah it would be stupid to release every game on say ps5 and exclude the games that started the series. Personally they better cause then on a ps5 you could start the series on it and (probably by the time the last few games are out for the series as a whole) finish it on the same console
Skipping PS4/PS5 would be crazy. - The rest of the Trails roster is on PS4 (and therefore PS5 via backwards compatibility) - Cold Steel 1 & 2 are still not on the Switch in the West - The next 2 future Trails games at this point (Daybreak 2 & Kai) are still coming to the PS4/PS5 as well. We can finally have the entire series not just on PC, not just on one, but TWO consoles, and for them to let it slide, insane. My OPINION: Timed exclusive at worse, or waiting for a Sony branded event to release info on those consoles. PlayStation usually has a State of Play event in September and another one at the very end of the year (or beginning of the next). Maybe it's copium, but I'll wait before knocking out multi-platform as an option.
@@malanior22 Or he can just not do that and buy the game on PS5 since obviously it's coming there. Every single trails games have come out on a playstation console. There is no way they will piss off more than half of their fanbase by not releasing on PS4/PS5 and PC. Xbox is the only one that will not be getting the game.
My theory currently is that there may be some sort of marketing deal happening behind the scenes, similarly to how Microsoft tends to do things, where for a time Falcom is unable to say in any certain terms that the game is coming to other platforms outside of Nintendo. Which is why they're being quite vague when they're asked about it.
I was going to come here and comment confidently that Sky the 1st will be as much of a Nintendo exclusive as Metaphor Re:Phantazio is going to be an Xbox "exclusive", but after that interview with the Falcom rep, I'm genuinely worried now

@Troop- thats the part that made me think it's not just a switch exclusive. Cause that would be wild to tell them hey you get a thing in the direct but the caviat is you get less than 2 minutes. They did it to get people to talk about it and to their credit it's working
Am I the only one that wanted a port of the original game on Switch? I mean, the remake looks gorgeous... but I also really like the original graphics 😅
Totally agree, this release will be the most important in the west since CS1 probably, so the net they cast regarding plattforms should be as wide as possible because it is the ultimate entry into the series. But even if this was a timed exclusive for the switch, nintendo would have stamped the word "exclusive" so hard over the 5 seconds clip or the japanese trailer that I still believe it'll come out on the usual plattforms at launch. And I want NIS to publish it because I want an Estelle and Joshua Plushi 🙂
No pc or ps5 support guaranteed is concerning but given they built up an audience there with the ps4 I don't see them abandoning it. This being temporary is likely.
For the people saying this isn't running on Switch hardware, I vehemently disagree. The Switch is perfectly capable of running a game like this. It's about development & optimization. Not hardware (especially when the Switch can run games like DOOM and BOTW). Keep in the mind the Switch is more powerful than the Wii U (which ran Xenoblade X).
The Switch, docked, can output at 1080p 60fps, handheld can do 720 at 60fps, but typically games go for 30. If this is a custom engine, which I'd suspect it is, then it is very possible its 1080p 60, but it could be 720 and then be upscaled or be checkerbox rendering to get it to 1080.
I'm hoping that this game will encourage them to make remakes for the other two in the Sky trilogy, as well as work something out with XSeed to get Cold Steel 1 and 2 on Switch, so Nintendo fans have access to the entire library. Same with some of the other Ys games. I'm one of the folks who's shied away from playing the Trails series until I could access the entire series on console (I know they're all on Steam, but I prefer my Switch). Hopefully, this game will give Falcom the attention and support they need to help get more of their catalog on other consoles, not just Switch. It would be great for other games in their catalog (like the older Ys games) could make their way to Switch, but we'll have to wait and see.
I kind of wanted the original, but if this turns out to be good, I'll get it. I mean I have the whole cold steel series and reverie and the crossbell series. I also want daybreak for sure.
As someone whose primary gaming platform is switch I’m definitely buying this day one, but obviously it needs to be on multiple platforms so the game can sell more. I’m certain it will release on other platforms.
@5:03 In my mind this reads as "Wait for the next press release when were allowed to talk about it" as in Nintendo paid them money to be the first ones to show it off.
It's gonna be with how Falcom releases Switch version of trails games later, where switch version out in 2025, and then PS5 later date or even in early 2026.
I'd bet it's just a timed exclusive. Kinda scummy because diehards will absolutely buy this on Switch to play then double dip down the road to play on another device with better performance. Them being vague about PS/PC also makes me think they don't want people waiting for other versions as that would affect launch sales if people just wait for the PC/PS release because those versions might not be ready since they said this was first made or built around the Switch.
This just HAS to come to PC (and other platforms outside Switch). It would be a slap in the face otherwise, since all other games in the series are on Steam. I just believe this is part of the deal with Nintendo - they can't openly say that the game will be released on other platforms. But I find their statement a bit weird if it wouldn't - they're basically saying "oh, we're unsure whether we should release it on other platforms, but if we are we will release info at a later date - hint hint"
I firmly believe that small change in the game's title to be a confirmation about their intent of remaking the whole trilogy. There's zero sense in not doing it if their intention is to bring the series to a larger audience. Also, THIS GAME NEEDS TO BE RELEASED ON EVERY MODERN PLATFORM AVAILABLE. Period.
Trails has become my favorite fictional story ever since I first got into Sky FC two years ago. I tend to avoid following Trails online though to avoid spoilers (currently am playing through Daybreak), but the Sky FC remake has me so excited that I can't help but watch others reactions and share the excitement. I am worried about Nintedo exclusivity, but I really can't imagine Falcom would keep the remake on Switch forever, so for now I'm still excited. But if they only remake FC and not SC that would truly be disappointing. If all of the Sky games get a remake, then I can hope that my favorite arc the Crossbell arc gets a remake too. Overall super excited! Yesterday was wild having the excitement and joy of the Sky FC remake announcement, followed by depressing events in Daybreak haha.
If they makes this switch only they lost my sale. And I own a switch. I want this on my ps5. This is a very anti-consumer move. All the other games have come to other platforms and sky should too.
Yeah same as me I know a fair few people who will stop buying any of their stuff if this is a switch exclusive, it's so scummy if it is. Especially considering its the PS fanbase that have basically been supporting it the most and lifting it out of obscurity.
If this is Switch only it is one of the most baffling decisions ever. The entire series is on Playstation and PC and you release one of the most asked games ever on a single platform exclusively. Why?
@@Yusei255 Even with a Switch, I just don't invest in purchases on it anymore. Capped and struggling 30fps and low textures are something I just don't accept anymore with Steam & Deck in hand. After quitting SMTV halfway through on Switch, I just can't, and will wait as long as it takes for games to escape that restrictive ecosystem.
@@christophelemaire4551 Releasing there as well as on other platforms would, alienating a huge chunk of you already established player base doesn't make sense tough.
My excitement is next level for this release and i am not fine with it only being sold on Switch. PS and PC being left out seems vulgar for such a big deal as this. Well stated reasoning TKN! It does look nicer than what the standard switch would do, i agree.
I’m very worried. Falcom has stopped doing PC ports for awhile so not having a western publisher confirmed is getting me worried since PC has all of the other Trails games. Another thing I’m worried about is an English dub. All eyes are on this game with potential newcomers and they are coming in expecting an English dub, especially when the other games have a dub since Cold Steel 1.
Not only nintendo will publish it but I believe nintendo also helped developing it. Just look at the game they said there is no loading screen seems and look like made for switch 2.
First off. Fantastic, informative upload mate. Appreciate all the info. Your my go to for trails info. I would be SHOCKED if it does not come to all modern consoles and pc the same as daybreak and modern cold steel games. That said I likely will pick this up for switch regardless as its my preferred platform for jrpgs (switch 2 if its out by the time this releases) . Personally I am both excited and a little let down. Excited that we are getting remake because duh, it looks great and sky sc is my fave trails game but also a teensy bit disappointed that we don't seem to be getting enhanced ports of the steam sky trilogy like we did the crossbell duology. The crossbell duology was an insane enhanced port. SO good. I was so excited to get the sky trilogy this way but I know full well in terms of bringing in new players and existing players that never played sky titles that this style of remake is the way to go. Time will tell. Overall I am just delighted its coming.
I agree that making it Switch exclusive is not ideal, but I don't see how the gameplay shown is "clearly no Switch". The console is obviously underpowered, but it has managed to have decent looking and running games, nothing shown in the trailers seems impossible to the platform. Of course I'd love if this releases also on the sucessor (and other platforms after exclusivity ends), but I don't think the footage is any proof of this not being exclusive.
I have 4 Switch, a PS5 and a PC - I am prepared for this game! The Switch 2 is a first day buy for me. The most games are delayed anyway so I think it's possible that it's a game for the successor. I hope that the PS3 Remake will also be released on the Switch 2 - my PS5 CE-Edition is still unboxed (I mostly play on the go).
Honestly I think they weren’t planning to announce it yet since from what it sounded like there were already delays. My gut is telling me they had to announce it since of some contract deal with Nintendo where essentially Nintendo has exclusivity to promote it.
I am absolutely stoked that this is coming, but I read absolutely nothing into the trailer except that they're looking to release a remake. I look forward to more details, hopefully we don't have to wait long.
If it’s only on switch that’s a dumb decision bc goes against Kondo saying he wants everyone to experience it and this is chance to sell more copies of any game prior. And they dont have publisher yet? Thats really weird, there better be a physical copy and want a collectors edition
im still making my way through the games so i have NO idea how Falcom does things so i was genuinely worried about it only being on Switch as im playing them on PC. If its a timed exclusive than that sucks but at least it wont be a permanent exclusive.

Also an interesting point re: Switch 2... could be that the Trails FC Remake could be the Switch 2 exclusive blockbuster, a system-seller... but here's hoping it'll come to PC ASAP.
I’ve kept the series on my watchlists for about a decade now. I’ve played FC and a demo for Cold Steel 1, and knew there was something so special I wasn’t ready to dive in fully. I haven’t been following the news and I lit waaay up when I saw the Direct footage! You called it: nerds worldwide have been waiting for an accessible diving point!
The gameplay is Switch hardware. LOL there literally the Switch button prompts. Nintendo would not show footage of other platform of games in their Direct. It look no different than Xenoblade games on Switch visually.
I wouldn't like to see XSeed as the publisher, they gatekeep Cold Steel 1 & 2 for no reason on the Switch despite the fact the japanese ports exists and I wouldn't be surprised if they are also the reason we don't have it on PS5 yet and it's strange there was never a port of the original Sky games on console. Maybe they were salty they lost Trails to NISA but I was surprised they announced Ys Felghana recently so who knows? Nintendo as a publisher could make sense because they translate their games in multiple languages but I'm not su sure about that. If Nintendo really was the publisher Falcom would probably say it's exclusive for now instead of having these vague wordings.
It's a pity that developers pay so little attention to localization. They are in no hurry to even translate their games into English, let alone other languages. It’s a pity that because of this, many people were never able to get acquainted with the series.
@@sharadaarun6222I know and tht would be really stupid if they dont do SC, thts like the most important chapter in the trails in the sky saga, since we gt to learn about the society and see a little sneak peak about Erebonia But I gt no problem with them skipping the third game since tht was basically a Kevin personal story and was just setting up the crossbell story
@@TheAwsomeuser Yeah SC is higher in the priority list than the 3rd but in my opinion skipping 3rd is not an option, because of all the lore and backstory it has that's absolutely critical to the series... I just finish FC two months ago, now I wonder, should I go ahead with SC or wait for the remakes and star all over again hahaha, no complain, but definitely I want the remake asap, I'm more a switch user than a PC user, almost 20 years without playing a pc and I just go back only to play FC. and still will prefer to be played it on switch if the version exist for America.
We already know this is not the first time Falcom did this kind of move. Release the game on one platform for it to be release on everything later on. They did this for Ys VIII, Ys Memories of Celceta, and Tokyo Xanadu. Or perhaps even Ys 7 if you consider the PC release after the PSP. So I bet this game will definitely be release on every other platform later.
besides the available platforms I think one major point to look out for is the pricing. People will be looking at its price vs its outward appearance and content. Regardless of the value we see on it if it releases with the price of every AAA game it might discourage new buyers who don't see it as being worth that value (even if we did think it was). The other big hidden forbidden question though is when considering the development and localization of the original that opened the potential for them...........will chest mesages even be there?!?!?!
I certainly hope that is an English dub because it makes these kinds of games way more accessible for those like me and many others. If the translation is one to one then theoretically they could reuse the old voice tracks, only problem there is with the new 3D presentation being a lot more dynamic, it might not fit so well to reuse voice clips intended for static sprites and text boxes. Or at least a wasted opportunity.
A release as an exclusive title on the successor model to of the Switch, perhaps even as a launch title, would certainly be in Nintendo's interest. There may even be a deal between the two players. If the remake is done well, that would even be an additional reason for me personally to buy the successor.
Not switch gameplay shown on a switch focused direct ... come on man, you're smarter than that lol It is Switch footage, then it was demonstrated on switch
For platforms, I get what you're saying, but I think you're reading too much into what we have or haven't seen so far. Nobody expected an announcement prior to the shareholder's meeting *at all*, what we saw was basically a teaser, and Falcom still hasn't technically given the official announcement of anything at all on their end yet. I don't see a scenario where it doesn't come to other platforms, at least not as it stands right now. It's true that they've been bringing more games to the platform, but those have mostly been Switch versions of games that were already available on other platforms, not new titles. Ys X wasn't even a "made it to other platforms eventually" scenario, it was always coming to everything. Given how technically weak the Switch is compared to its competitors, it makes perfect sense that a developer would tailor a game's technical specs to the weakest platform they're releasing it on, rather than release an intentionally-downgraded version for that platform. I interpret the Falcom rep's quoted statement as a nonanswer, a way of saying "we haven't announced it for other platforms, we'll make an announcement if and when we make an announcement." They were avoiding making an official statement that would bind the company.
I noticed that they advertise the fact the original was available on Windows in the footage, which is... possibly a hopeful sign? Falcom has always traditionally been a PC company, but of course it has moved away from it at this time. Falcom's channel has produced trailers with slightly extended footage, separate from Nintendo. I will say I actually disagree the Sky remake will be the most important Falcom project next. I'm still excited for it, don't get me wrong, but Kai could potentially make or break the series. I don't want to be pessimist, but if there are two highly divisive games in a row, it could possibly ruin the series for many people. On the other hand, no-one will drop the series purely because the Sky Remake somehow ends up being bad. Until Kai's release, I think they should focus purely on it from now to the 26th of September. Maybe they'll have a story trailer on the 1st of September. We'll have to see.
A massive selling point for any remakes in the Trails series would be incorporating both parts of a typical setup-resolution arc in a single seamless game, even if the second part is sold separately as an expansion.
A possible simultaneous release might be nice for some, but without an English dub and a PC port handled by PH3, I'm just not really interested. CLE has literally fumbled the bag with most of their PC ports... and I've gotten too used to VO in my native tongue. It made sense for the Crossbell games to only have Japanese dubs, but come on, man.
One of the reason why switch is doing so good is bc it basically their portable and console in one. If they were to release the switch as no portable and a other DS, even combined wouldn't be as good the switch sales imo.
I'm hoping for a multi-platform release too, since I play the series on PC. But imagine this being a launch title for the Switch successor. Being one of the few games available right away for the new system would get a lot of new eyes on it, and the series as a whole.
Regarding modernizing the game mechanics of Sky, I know what they can do in-game to make the connection between Estelle and Joshua extra special. Link Attacks. They need to have Estelle and Joshua (and only them) be able to do Cold Steel-era Link Attacks even though the ARCUS that allows people to do that haven't been invented yet. It would show their bond and unity as a team to the player rather than just telling, and it would be an in-universe crutch for the player would rely on in FC before having it ripped from them in SC, thereby demonstrating the void in Estelle's life Joshua has left and her learning to cope with it afterwards. And then having it return gloriously in full force at the endgame.
I'm ok waiting for the remake to release on my platform of choice, If indeed it ever does, I only recently played through the sky trilogy and it will give me more time to play through more of the series or heck even take a break and enjoy some of the other games in my backlog. Either way, I am super happy with the news of the remake and hope they will eventually bring out the remaining two games from the sky trilogy as well.
I really hope this isn't a Switch exclusive. I've been trying to get my friend into this series forever, and after showing him this trailer, he said he would try it.
There’s no way what do people usually say atlus move? it would be crazy if it was exclusive to Nintendo platforms . The thing is there have been rumors of Nintendo getting exclusive games for switch 2 so who knows
Dragon Quest 12 is supposed to be coming to the Switch, but I'm going to guess it'll be on the Switch 2 instead. Heck maybe it'll be one of the games first shown for the new console
They chose to be on this Nintendo direct simply because of the exposure. Nintendo directs are extremely popular. Probably the most popular game events on the internet once they are announced and when they drop. I'm guessing this is based on data that Falcom has collected and with that debuting the game at this point was the right call. Jrpg fans who know about this series were immediately talking about it. They were telling friends about it. They talked about how it's the perfect place to start. That is genius marketing in my opinion. As for the publisher you most likely guess the correct one. I'm pulling towards XSEED, but I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo did it themselves. I really think this will just be a timed exclusive like stated by you. Within a year or so it'll be ported elsewhere. Now as for the question about what hardware it's being shown on... Switch or Switch 2. Hmm... I'm guessing it might actually be the Switch itself. It's been optimized so we'll that it makes me think it had not just Falcom working on it, but also an outside developer. Kinda reminds me of how Monolithsoft helped with the Switch Zelda games. Hmm...
Putting it at politely as possible: If it's on PC (Even if not on release), Falcom will get $69.99 from me. If it's only on switch, or only on Nintendo hardware, Falcom will get $0 from me. There's no room for debate here.
All very good questions! Honestly, I really hope NIS is not out of the running. If they have a chance I would prefer them over the other three options. However, I would not be shocked if it goes back to XSeed knowing they have the original license.
Please please please do the whole series!!! I almost bought a new controller just to be able to play it in Steam but after this news I guess I'll just wait next year.
There's supposed to be a Falcom presentation on the game in about a week or so I also heard they are not going to be at Tokyo game show this year so just look forward to this presentation coming up eventually
They'd have to be downright lobotomized to make this exclusive. Falcom is poor as is. Also what's hilarious is everyone waiting for a remake to play Sky FC is absolutely going to jump straight to the OG SC after that cliffhanger.
BIG QUESTION. What about the OST.... Is it gonna be the original, EVO or total new edition again??? The one in the trailer sounds new so and not too bad either so hopefully we get more renditions and maybe make it possible to toggle between the few soundtrack types!
Look, OG Sky 1st game was, overall, a *good game.* HOWEVER, having said that, to me, that game STILL is the *weakest entry* in the Trails franchise (IMO) due to its *slog story-telling/uninspired side quests for the first half of the game* (the second half of this game it FINALLY starts to get BETTER with its story/quests), so what I'm hoping is that, in addition to graphical/combat enhancements, I would REALLY hope that they *rework the story/quests* for the first half of the game into something BETTER than how it was done in the original (e.g. remove unnecessary early chore side quests, add new side quests that are MORE interesting/rewarding, add more story narrative/meaningful human boss fights early on to *kick the main story* at an earlier stage).
honestly, based on how that was worded, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't announce the PlayStation & PC versions of the Sky remake during Tokyo Game Show in a couple weeks. Sometimes publishers and marketing people like to be discreet and will say what they need to, to keep a secret. I have to believe that's what is happening here.
As a big fan of *Bestelle*, and as many others, and I just gonna refer to the sales numbers Falcom itself published about the Trails franchise: 8 millions of copies worldwide, keeping this remake exclusive only on Switch would be the dumbest thing ever. I want to believe Falcom use to release the game on Switch as an entry point for new Switch users, considering also there are many new people super confused about which game to play first, so this is a cornerstone to attract new fans. The existing fans knows exactly what is this game about and we are super hyped. Gaining new fans and getting rid of the old ones would be dumb. I believe other platforms will be revealed at their time and that will be when they talk about the distribution on west, and should be NISA (Xseed no please!). EDIT: is confirmed that NISA won't be related to the distribution on west, so no distribution nor localization on west yet. It's too early to get into conclusions. Let's see how things go.
It is very likely that more info will be revealed at Tokyo game show 2024, such as the consoles that the Remake would be. Well, I doubt it's exclusive to Nintendo. We will have to see what happens in the coming weeks
It's possible that Nintendo paid for timed exclusivity. It is also possible that the actual sales numbers are showing that the games are just not selling on PS4/PS5. With the accessibility of the Switch, I don't see this as a downside if it turns out to be Switch-exclusive. Granted, I don't see any reasons that it shouldn't go to other platforms, but I think we're missing a piece here. I believe I'd heard previously that once they started releasing games on Switch that they saw the best sales there by far. It didn't look like the Sky remake was really outside of the Switch realm. Those backgrounds and textures are pretty fuzzy. The characters looked to get all of the love there like in other Trails games. From what I've heard, not having NIS America publishing could be a positive due to localization concerns.
Tough to say. I feel like there's no way this is going to be exclusive to the Switch because when have Falcom ever released games exclusive to Nintendo consoles? But at the same time, why would they only announce it for the Switch and not confirm a PC and PS5 release, too? That's pretty weird. I think most likely that means it's a timed exclusive, maybe six months to a year. It would be a huge shame if true, I'm not playing this game on Switch, there's no way it would run well on there.
I think this was revealed much earlier than the other games in the series usually do. They probably wanted to focus on Switch because of install base. There’s no way they release it too close to Daybreak 2 English release. It’s possible since it’s using the XSEED translation (from screenshots), they just add a dub to what is already there. We still got time before we have to panic lol
I’m beyond thrilled and excited for this remake, but I can’t deny some disappointment that it’s not simply a remaster like Trails From Zero. I loved the original style and strongly prefer turn-based combat. However, Daybreak has one of my absolute favorite systems, second only to FFX. But again, it’s only slightly disappointing. I’m very much looking forward to this being my GotY.
I was a bit peeved at first, but you’re right. Been here from the beginning. So it’s true you have to go big. Could it be possibly an exclusive or could it be debuting on a new switch.
They can't talk about bringing the game to a larger audience and only release on one platform. It's coming to everything.

Every game has had a pc port falcom is very good at porting the games to pc
It probably will come to erry platform
@@goodgamer1419but isn't it PH3 who's doing the pc ports recently?
One platform def kills hype and game wont sell as much as it potentially could even when it goes to other platforms. Sad
@@statesminds It might sell a lot if it's also a Switch 2 launch title. Very first JRPG to play on the system.
@@statesminds Only if you don't market it on other platforms. Otherwise you're potentially getting multiple sales from people who waited for the game, prefer other platforms but do own the Switch (which is me btw lol).
Nah sorry, Ill still take it over being behind. I dont want to wait til 2040 to play the last Trails game.
- The rest of the Trails roster is on PS4 (and therefore PS5 via backwards compatibility)
- Cold Steel 1 & 2 are still not on the Switch in the West
- The next 2 future Trails games at this point (Daybreak 2 & Kai) are still coming to the PS4/PS5 as well.

When you put it that way it would make sense as to why when people asked they were being almost annoyingly vague about it
I was going to come here and comment confidently that Sky the 1st will be as much of a Nintendo exclusive as Metaphor Re:Phantazio is going to be an Xbox "exclusive", but after that interview with the Falcom rep, I'm genuinely worried now
Yes the SWITCH is successful but this remake deserves a multi platform release please 🙏
Successful with Nintendo ips, but not falcom ips.
and it will be a multi platform release.
It's clear at this point they falcom had not talked to any localisation companies yet. So saying nisa is unlikely it's a bit early.
Which is concerning, if they didn't partner with a Western publisher yet does this mean we'll get the game much later than the japanese?
You can find it at Gematsu but apparently they spoke to a NISA public relations person and theyre not publishing this
@@RetroNerdyGamer NO they are not involved with publishing. Which is true becouse Falcom has not contacted them yet. This can change over time. Also even if they are allready involved the person in question wouldn't say so.
@@jackjohnson8305 Don't forget the Sky trilogy is fully translated by Xseed so choosing the right publisher is the issue. The content within in it, wouldn't be an issue is already in full english
I don't think that this is Switch only, but I think that it was build for the Switch at first. That's probably why it looks good on the Switch.
If it were exclusive it would have received an entire section. They wouldn't have shut up about it. Even a timed exclusive will usually get a segment.
It would be pretty wild making your game an exclusive for Nintendo and they give you 5 seconds in their direct...
I honestly thought they would port the old games to new consoles and call it a day. It's kinda crazy we're getting a full remake. I'm pretty excited.
I was just expecting a port not a full on remake. Don't get me wrong the remake looks nice but there's a charm to the original version
Also don't think we will wait long for these answers there is a sky live stream set up in 2 days
I started the series on PC so that's where I'm going to be sticking with playing it.
I highly doubt it's going to be Switch exclusive. I'll eat a glass bottle if I'm wrong.
Period.
I noticed that as well. It now follows the naming convention of The Third.
Could also be for legal reasons, as XSEED still holds the rights for Sky. I'm not sure how that works with remakes though, so I could be wrong.
It looks so great ❤ just finished sky the 3rd today and the other two right before. I‘m so hyped about this remake🎉
Falcom Brightened my day by announcing this game. Now I can fall in love with it all over again, just like I did when I first played it 9 years ago!
If this is Switch only it is one of the most baffling decisions ever. The entire series is on Playstation and PC and you release one of the most asked games ever on a single platform exclusively. Why?
Should they want to target a younger audience, the one that didn't know about the original game, releasing the game on Switch would make sense.
it's not going to be switch exclusive.
Agreed about the dub. it's still early so let's see who publishes the game first.
hopefully no dubs
Not only nintendo will publish it but I believe nintendo also helped developing it. Just look at the game they said there is no loading screen seems and look like made for switch 2.
I think the trailer was running on Switch 2 hardware. I hope they can somehow include the Japanese voices from the Vita version.
Fairy tail 2 was announced only for switch during the June Nintendo direct now it was announced for other platforms yesterday

Global release may also be delayed by the SAG-AFTRA strike. I imagine the dub has made very little progress due to this.
I'll go out on not much of a limb and say it'll be everything but Xbox. I don't see Nintendo paying for this to be an exclusive, timed or otherwise
It's a pity that developers pay so little attention to localization. They are in no hurry to even translate their games into English, let alone other languages. It’s a pity that because of this, many people were never able to get acquainted with the series.
As always, you are a great resource for Falcom news, thanks again for all the work here
I have the Collector's Edition in my PSP game collection. It's a very nice game.
Pretty excited to see the younger version of Renne before she got adopted to the Bright family

@@TheAwsomeuser Yeah SC is higher in the priority list than the 3rd but in my opinion skipping 3rd is not an option, because of all the lore and backstory it has that's absolutely critical to the series... Not to mention a lot of insight about the church
And Phantasma in 3D is going to be really cool!
Falcom can’t fumble this, I hope they also realize this is their best and only chance to bring a wider audience to their games.
I hope it release on pc or ps when it comes to falcom or jrpgs I usually like to play them on ps
If the Switch 2 is backwards compatible then it'll have one incredible library to choose from
@@creekandseminole It will be 👍
Not switch gameplay shown on a switch focused direct ... come on man, you're smarter than that lol It is Switch footage, then it was demonstrated on switch
Bro its been years since I last played the sky 3logy and now they release remakes? Lets effing goooooooo!
"Simultaneous world release", best words I heard in a long time 😍
Regarding modernizing the game mechanics of Sky, I know what they can do in-game to make the connection between Estelle and Joshua extra special.
I’m also curious of how the soundtrack gonna sound like cause the original had that very peaceful wholesome vibe 🤔
Hmm...
Putting it at politely as possible:
If it's on PC (Even if not on release), Falcom will get $69.99 from me.
If it's only on switch, or only on Nintendo hardware, Falcom will get $0 from me.
There's no room for debate here.
Shocking no one

All very good questions! Honestly, I really hope NIS is not out of the running. If they have a chance I would prefer them over the other three options. However, I would not be shocked if it goes back to XSeed knowing they have the original license.
Please please please do the whole series!!! I almost bought a new controller just to be able to play it in Steam but after this news I guess I'll just wait next year.
I hope it'll be released on PC and at least in english. Probably not in 2025 :/
There's supposed to be a Falcom presentation on the game in about a week or so I also heard they are not going to be at Tokyo game show this year so just look forward to this presentation coming up eventually
A western announcement and no publisher and yet considering self-publishing? This just seems like a recipe for disaster.
I got Reverie and Daybreak for switch so Iam uber hyped
I will wait for the inevitable PS5 version.
honestly, based on how that was worded, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't announce the PlayStation & PC versions of the Sky remake during Tokyo Game Show in a couple weeks.
Would support this series.. hopefully they can release in other platforms also like PS4,PS5, PC etc. :)
I hope there won't be nothing lost in this remake considering recent trends
like for e.g Jenis Royal Academy section
Looks like its running pretty well in the trailer
