I think its clear that TATA Motors is clearly focusing on EVs for the future. With CAFE 3 and BS7 just lurking around the corner, they don't feel investing anymore on their existing ICE powertrains especially diesel. They will just do minor upgrades and play the pricing game in ICE to keep the ship floating till another 2-3 years. Its actually good for Indian consumers. It makes a lot of sense because Indian consumers already have good ICE options in non TATA brands as you guys mentioned. So, TATA committing in EVs is just giving Indian consumers more options to the already existing. I hope you guys appreciate this is not a small commitment, creating EV supply chains like captive battery manufacturing (which they will soon with Agratas) they will be able to bring down the EVs cost further. With TATA Power they are already in process of creating DC fast charging network. These are humongous commitments. Their latest launch in TATA NExon 45kwh (prismatic cells) at 15 lakh on road price will have a realistic range of 350 KMs. That's a HUGE step! Which other car manufacturer in India is doing that? Even Mahindra doesn't have a small segment EV in their upcoming BE platform. Having said that they do need to fix their fit/finish quality, improve ergonomics, etc. Just bashing TATA Motors is as if they are doing nothing is not fair in my opinion. Unlike others they have taken a more difficult path on transitioning into a Electric first car company for the masses. That's exactly what India consumers needed then having another great 4 cylinder ICE powertrain!
Motorinc has a great audience who actually have braincells. Unlike most other channels where people just are idiots. You are actually right here. I hope Mahindra also gets into EVs but at higher prices with born electric.
I own Nexon fearless s+ . The absence of cupholder is really frustrating. I had to buy cupholder as a accesory which can be attached to the AC vent. But it makes the hot coffee cool easily. The wireless mobile charger is not so necessary. There is no place to keep things on the centre console. Also one irritating thing is Nexon fearless has all black interior and there is only one cabin light at the front which is not at all sufficient. Why didnt tata guys test this before launching the car.
To Kartikeya's request on what to look for in future Tata reviews (this applies to all manufacturers for me): Updated insight into the company's manufacturing focus (performance/power/luxury/efficiency etc.), the kind of consumers they are trying to appeal to (or if they are confused/clueless) and service culture of the manufacturer. This would allow me to avoid manufacturers that clearly don't have my interests in mind with their product strategy(ies). Examples below: Tata's example: The company normalizes the existence of defects in it's products and refuses to acknowledge that a product can be near flawless. Maruti Suzuki's example: When a division head was asked about the power concerns of the new smaller engine in the Swift and if it would be addressed with the upcoming hybrid powertrain, their ignorant response was to the effect of "we give the best mileage".
13:14 your comment about India not having a coffee culture... The truth is, what the Tata representative might've implied is that," india doesnt have a drinking coffee while driving culture".. And that is true.. Neither me nor anyone in my family or my friends drive and drink coffee, especially not from a coffee cup in a car's centre console.. With our roads filled with potholes and speed breakers, i doubt a coffee cup will stand stable in any cup holder without spilling it's contents onto the center console. At max, we drink juice or water from a water bottle, or even coffee for that matter, from a thermos. I say this as a 1990s kid, having driven multiple cars for a better part of 14 years, on highways, City conditions, intercity, intracity, inter-state etc etc.. Maybe the Tata rep's wording of the statement may not have been correct, but what they implied holds true... PS: apart from that, i agree with you on everything... Enjoyed the video🎉❤
It's been more than a year and half following you guys. Has made changes in me to have a different view point on many car . Since I am planning a new 1st family car, watching This Connect Season 2 has been an knowledgeable Upgrade for me. Magnite facelift review yes awaiting.
My question is, who uses cup holders in India. I have never used it. If possible, you can do a poll and we can finally get an answer. 13:23, I agree with the research. I am a coffee lover, but never took a coffee and sat down in my car and drove around. Too much traffic for that 🤣🤣
I too never drank a coffee while driving. I hv a experience of driving 16yrs & 650kms a day & sometimes more. Mumbai to many states & from Aligarh to mumbai non stop apart from lunch n dinner n coffee breaks in 19hrs total.. drove 180kmh/hr in my nexon 100's of times..
On a side note, I just test drove the Nexon and the XUV 3XO on behalf of a colleague, and somehow the Nexon felt as if it was not so well engineered and I did not feel connected enough while driving. 3XO was so much better on that front and I felt so much more confident while in the driver's seat.
@@motorinc The Nexon's interior looked flamboyant yet felt cheap and not ergonomic enough to me, 3XO's felt more natural and better put together. The ride and handling was also more sorted in the Mahindra, while the Nexon managed to remind me of how the Indica felt back in the day. And the engine on the petrol Nexon felt like a diesel to me, both in terms of NVH and power delivery. The 3XO's was almost as refined as the 4cyl unit on my Grand i10, barring slow speeds on 2nd gear and during engine start-up. Both cars I drove were under 10k on the odo. I hope that helps! Cheers!
I recently discovered this channel and started binge watching it. This channel is a gem and more and should be so much more popular! I have one question - Which tires would be better for Tata curvv diesel with 80% highway run, 70km daily - 16 inch steel rims or 17 inch alloys? It's tough to buy this car after watching this episode but there are so few diesel automatic cars at this price point.
Almost nobody is using q damn cupholder in India and that's just a fact. And how is it not an upgrade on Nexon ? Nexon looks absolutely trash and they fixed that and added a few new features. I dont even know what these people compare these csrs to, probably some fantasy csr they have made up in their mind. Its cheap for what it is, its safe , it looks good and serves its purpose very well.
They like dancing on Suzuki's tunes. Keep harping that safety is not important and promote people to buy Suzuki tin-cans. They will cause a lot of deaths on the roads by pushing these hare-brained agendas, but then wash their hands off and say the driver was to blame by showing some random video of one guy using a phone.
I think the Tata's research on cupholders seems to be logical somewhere. Cupholders are an outcome of the American Drive Thru culture where you pick up your coffee from your car and drink it from your car. In my 18 years of driving, the only time I've used the cupholders on my car was twice. And both times I was doing solo Pune- Bangalore runs and used it to keep some RedBull handy. But then I don't have much of an experience of the NCR "car-o-bar" culture. So not sure if cupholders on car make a difference. A lot of other cars in India which have them are also sold in international markets, so it could be ideal to have them. But Tata is selling its passenger vehicles only in India. So not sure if it is making a difference.
I don’t drink coffee, but I always prefer keeping my water bottles in the cup holders because it’s easier to access than the door pockets. Not to mention it’s a convenient spot to drop your phone/wallet/keys as well. The reasoning that coffee culture doesn’t exist so we don’t need cup holders is a clear coverup. They needed to add the wireless charger and they didn’t give it enough thought before hand. So the cheapest and laziest way to fix that was to replace the cup holders with the wireless charger. If they were truly of the mindset that they don’t need cup holders, why do the lower trim cars offer them?
"Removing cupholders because india does not have coffee culture" this statement can be perfect analogy to "banning papers in India because indians don't use toilet paper".
It’s good with a manual transmission but not when coupled to an auto, also it’s miles behind diesel engines from Hyundai and Mahindra when it comes to refinement and power delivery
These first Impressions are honestly great , I have stopped watching any other videos for a car/bike in which I am interested because I think 50 mins is enough to let you decide whether you want to go for a test drive or let alone buy that machine
Damn, normally the thumbnail expression match very well with the content... but this time the thumbnail didn't prepare me for this type of onslaughts... 😂
MotorInc really transforms the review of cars to the next level. Love to hear the conversation between you about the comparison of Citroen Basalt & Tata Curvv ICE section by section as both the cars enters into the SUV Coupe space. Thanks in advance.
Exactly. I took close look at Curvv and it hardly felt an upgrade over the Nexon which I drive frequently. Higer variant of Curvv may be offering better experience. With Curvv EV, TAMO should have offered RWD but hey if cup holders aren't considered necessity then RWD is just too much to ask for right?
When shumi mentions about the RR310. I remember the old days when shumi reviewed it for the first time in powerdrift. Shumi has come a long way 😅😅. Im just here to gain the knowledge about cars and bikes even though i wont buy any of these coz i already have and im set for the next 5 years. Love content from motorinc .
Feedback on the reviews: I kept hearing the comparisons to Nexon in most details. For people who have no idea how Nexon or any TATA products feel and drive, can you also make comparisons to other OEMs. So people familiar or not familiar with TATA portfolio can understand the nuances in differences. Also one more thing, maybe this is just a me thing but I was completely confused with the architecture and platform bit and also between the Revotron and GDI engine, couldn't understand what was better or worse. It could sound repetitive for regular watchers, Little more context would be nice.
Hey SN! Thanks for the clarifications and queries. 👍🏽 The GDI is based on the Revotron. But it gets direct injection and better responsiveness because of it. However it is not a smoother new generation engine. It has the same refinement issues as the Revotron.
Hey Motorinc, thanks for the video. I would highly request you to talk on few of the other hot topics a 0:00 bout cars on india as well: 1) Indias parking problem (said to have a shortage of parking spaces by 2027) 2) Governments push towards low cost fuels rather than actual low polluting fuel 3) Current Road Infra of a so called 'soon to be global super power' I understand if these are sensitive and or political topics, bit imo these are things worth talking about on a large scale. And am seeing few / less industry experts talk on it.
Team, since there was a comment on the infotainment needing to be simpler, how simple are we thinking? Would you say the infotainment provided in SUVs like the Grand Vitara where everything is right there and easy to understand be a good infotainment? I have heard from people that the Grand Vitara infotainment is called basic since it is too easy to use. 😅

38:48 Can confirm but on the Punch.ev. I saw one driving towards me at night and the connected DRL looked like it was just pasted just for the heck of it. On the other hand, the Verna's looks like one continuous strip.
9:41 There were bunch of journalists pointing same alleged concerns about harrier that engine part could intrude during crash and that was the reason they were not sending it for evaluation for very long time. But rest is history they scored perfect 5. This time journalists are pointing about Alfa arc being inadequate for larger cars. I think automotive journalists must take a breath before just randomly making a concern about any vehicle or it's platform. This tactics of pointing alleged issues which may not exist could do worse in vehicle's life cycle from launch to so on. This will affect adversely on a product.
Hi Kushal, that was an issue with the Harrier and Safari. It’s also one of the reasons they moved to an electric power steering. And the chassis was also upgraded to help it get the star rating. So it’s not all smoke and mirrors.
@@motorinc everyone said that in prefacelift models steering was inconsistent and heavy for city speeds. May be tata addressed that & reason for switching to electric PS from Hydraulic one could be that pointed issue too. Do you think that getting 5 stars was the only reason why they switched? Not defending Tata but we don't have technical design proof of anything say for Alfa arc or this power steering one.
@29:00 that road holding is what will make this car gr8 for long journeys...which is impossible to do "comfortably " in a creta,seltos,sonet....people r making fuss about back seat experience whereas when sonet came, they said it's a negative and moved on..atleast curvv will provide better comfort than sonet or seltos in the back seat I'm sure
@@motorinc have tried it..speaking from experience..Where the ride quality in Tata motivated me to travel for over 2.5k km in 4 5 days(700 km in a day),anything above 125 km in Hyundai Creta was pain..I really regret that some of the major positives of tata are always ignored whereas the small positives of other brands are glorified to the next level
Their own 2 segment lower Punch and even the Altroz have both wireless Charger and Cup holders😅😅 and I dont know how Tata representative could give that statement😌😌the reason is just Curvv being the older car that was launched back in 2017.. And also, I saw an interview with the designer head(UK) where he was talking about how they didnt compromise on the rear seat, the head room, the knee room etc and all the bells and whistles that didnt transform to the real product..
Loved the road map. As always, literally and figuratively Liked the video. (I do that on every video.) Here is an idea for you, send Shumie to review a car and Kartik a bike nothing major but just for fun. Keep it up!
Calling this car a "Lifestyle" vehicle is equal to calling Sunny Leone a virgin! I may sound harsh but it a fact! I watched this episode as privilaged follower, as a huge fan of both Karthikeya & Shumi & nothing else. Discussing about Karthikeya's time in Goa would be more interesting than talking about this thing. I've lost all my interest in Tata. Those who were blind followers of Tata saying "We need support Tata as default as they are an Indian company" need to watch is episode. Knowing about what's to come next on MotorInc excites me more than celebrating my birthday! Also, we need Nissan Magnite facelift first impression episode!!😊❤
Motorinc has been the prime mover so to speak for my interest in the Magnite. I am sure that is the case for many of us here. So please do review the Magnite and tell us all about it. The part about the rear view mirror falling off while adjusting hits home for me. Yesterday during a rather longish weekend drive in my cousin's Kushaq Monte Carlo (1.0 litre and probably 6 months old) I was trying to adjust the inside rear view mirror. It is of course the fancy-schmancy auto-dimming one so I was a little suspicious when I felt a significant amount of resistance while adjusting it. The vehicle had only been driven by my cousin and it was set to his preference, since the time it left the showroom. I told him about the resistance and he said it is fine. While trying to adjust it again, the mirror fell off its holder and was hilariously hanging by a wire. After 30 mins of attempts and pointless calls to the Skoda reps, my cousin, in one spirited maneuver, fixed it back into place. We did not touch it afterwards. So a straightforward message to car manufacturers. If there are sci-fi like elements trickling into the auto scene and you feel a sense of FOMO (see what I did there guys?) please do not act on it. Please only put stuff in vehicles that you know how to do well. I understand FOMO is real and the market is scary. But in the long run we would value the brand a lot more if it did all the things it has, without a fuss. We can see right through the fussy and cheap tech that y'all put in your vehicles to justify the stratospheric increases in prices for you to maintain your cash-rich or whatever nonsense status you love. Okay sorry about the rant but hey MotorInc makes one think and isn't that just brilliant? Thank you team. Loved the content and excited to be a part of this journey.
The ALFA platform was said to accommodate cars up to 4.3 m in length. My guess is Tata couldn't move the Nexon to the ALFA platform in time, due to which the Curvv remains on the older platform as its just a Nexon with a boot.
I loved those head nod from Karthik in the quick summary section. 😅 Reminded me of my teacher's expectations after a lesson-except I used to turn those nods into scars! Jokes apart I think Magnite deserves a 15 min discussion at Motor Inc, the value it offers is insane when other companies are increasing prices and never decrease them with changes in material prices.
I’m never recommending TATA, bought a Zest 6 years back and sold it in 6 months because of quality issues! New issues arrive once old once are solved! Engines aren’t worth driving, bought Ford Aspire and never been happier since! 125000 kms done and no Issues! Praying for FORD to be back!
I’ve been watching videos for Car reviews for sometime. I’ve really started to like the way you guys have covered it in a different way and presented it less like a VLOG but more like a review. Only miss is that you include me going forward then we have Jeremy, May and Hammond (Me) complete. I am younger so that’d be maybe befitting the comparison 😜
You guys are really doing great work. Enjoying and learning lot of things about cars/bikes. May be the torque data in the video swapped between GDI & Revotron. Time 15.:21
Damn I thought I was the only one noticing those connected lights I think on the Nexon EV ; they don't look like a connected one - something like a dilated pixel effect. Yk off late I have been noticing the harrier dark edition and it looks stunning at least from the front profile but I can't accept shelling a min of 25 lakhs on that when I can get a XUV700 which is far more competent and practical with the 7 seats and all fir a lower rate. I would also want to know the difference between fun to drive & sporty coz like today I was on an empty road and on a sort of banking, I took it at 75ish and the car (XUv700) was stable and sort of encouraging me to push further ; don't get that in the creta where off late even for an overtake, I need to downshift a gear (manual) and then try to get it with the higher revs. The Curve looks fantastic and we were thinking to upgrade. Again Creta isn't on the table coz we're getting many issues with the car. SO steering lock suddenly in traffic, gear locking when shifting to second, car is vibrating like crazy in 1st in traffic so not going back to Hyundai and Kia. Thar 5 door is good but with the crazy number of bookings, I am sure i’ll never get the machine. Plus like driving a big car can be tedious overtime and PARKING in MUMBAI. Tata was on the table but Idk now. See electrical failures is no new thing. I think an hour or 2 back Gautam Singhania tweeted about his stranded Lamborghini Reveulto on Atal Setu due to electrical failure and other units of the car have also reported the same. XUV early days also threw some errors and Ig now its part and parcel of the experience with these enormous screens inculcating all features. Like the Cloud EV has headlight controls in the screen 😅. And I am around 193 cms in height ( short trips for maybe 10 KMs max i might use the backseat ). We like the design but I dont want to feel cheated essentially by paying a hefty sum and getting an inferior product. I was reading some reviews who were saying the TCGDI engine and DCA find a good ground by being comfortable to drive and not thrilling performance for a better mileage and that usecase fits my requirement ( being a secondary car ). Will the Curv still be a tough recommendation. Last question : Why have y’all vanished from Apple Podcasts coz that was easier for me to binge while driving. TH-cam I gotta keep the screen on and its an extra hassle so if y’all cud come back , it would be great !
I love your conversations, I’m not into vehicles but I ensure to listen to you guys as I thoroughly enjoy the conversations. Pls cover the new Nissan magnate
We definitely need magnite as well as kiger facelift review, these two cars has been holding nissan and renault in india till now so review on these cars will be a contribution towards automotive industry in india
One thing i see a difference of opinion with others is the TCGDI engine views. Especially about its refinement and quietness. I heard more positives about these two aspects than a flip side.
How about the material fit and finish .. I own a GV, Fronx and when I stepped in Curvv, I felt GV's interior look dated tbh .. the Curvv's dash look and feel, the gear knob .. I so wish suzuki used such materials .. thoughts ? For example, I just love the range roverish gear knob in the automatic..
I have a punch EV which was so drastic from the regular punch and i enjoy what TATA have done with it.. Cant see the same difference between the Curvv ICE and EV. Also, I feel the cabin experience is better in the Punch than the Curvv, feels more organic. I would also stretch my neck out and say that the Punch EV is the best car Tata manufactures.
@@motorinc I don't know if there are any significant updates - don't see any, based on the news stories/first look videos I have seen. If that is indeed the case, then you guys shouldn't spend energy on it. The new 3-minute YT shorts format can be used to give your opinion quickly. IMO
Magnite facelift review. surely, as it's a very underrated car and need more attention from automotive media units as more and more people must be made aware of the product, as I think it's a very practical product.

😣🤷♂️
Others - Instrument cluster.
Tata and Mahindra - Instrument Clutter 😅

Best thing on Sunday is seeing this Notification ❤
Morning PV! Have an awesome ‘day!
To Kartikeya's request on what to look for in future Tata reviews (this applies to all manufacturers for me):
Updated insight into the company's manufacturing focus (performance/power/luxury/efficiency etc.), the kind of consumers they are trying to appeal to (or if they are confused/clueless) and service culture of the manufacturer.
This would allow me to avoid manufacturers that clearly don't have my interests in mind with their product strategy(ies). Examples below:
Tata's example: The company normalizes the existence of defects in it's products and refuses to acknowledge that a product can be near flawless.
Maruti Suzuki's example: When a division head was asked about the power concerns of the new smaller engine in the Swift and if it would be addressed with the upcoming hybrid powertrain, their ignorant response was to the effect of "we give the best mileage".
Heya GL, thanks for the perspective. We’ll keep it in mind. 👍🏽

Gotcha! Now we feel a bit silly. But, we do use it a fair bit. Maybe Macau’s ewe spend so much time in the road. 🤷♂️

My question is, who uses cup holders in India. I have never used it. If possible, you can do a poll and we can finally get an answer. 13:23, I agree with the research. I am a coffee lover, but never took a coffee and sat down in my car and drove around. Too much traffic for that 🤣🤣

On a side note, I just test drove the Nexon and the XUV 3XO on behalf of a colleague, and somehow the Nexon felt as if it was not so well engineered and I did not feel connected enough while driving. 3XO was so much better on that front and I felt so much more confident while in the driver's seat.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Could you pinpoint what made you feel that way? Would be super helpful.
Cheers!
Lol someone just said the opposite too.
@@RiGD01 Well I can only share my experience!
Good to have your take! Happy to know it works for you. Please let us know if/when you get one! Thanks!
Good to have your take! Happy to know it works for you. Please let us know if/when you get one! Thanks!
Really, i use mine everyday, the wireless charger toh mine phone doesn't even support, weird trade off imo
Will we get a MotorInc on Suzuki GSX-8R. ? I'd love it
Sorry UN! That might take a while.
Superb! Great to have that perspective.
I disagree with diesel part. The 1.5 revotorque is awesome to drive. it's a great motor.
It’s good with a manual transmission but not when coupled to an auto, also it’s miles behind diesel engines from Hyundai and Mahindra when it comes to refinement and power delivery
05:37 Shumi sneaked that in so well, Karthik didn't even notice 😂
These first Impressions are honestly great , I have stopped watching any other videos for a car/bike in which I am interested because I think 50 mins is enough to let you decide whether you want to go for a test drive or let alone buy that machine

😝
Bro curvv is at 17L (manual no adas) no other diesel car is there at this price point - if it's there kindly suggest I am planing to replace jazz
Magnite Facelift- Interested😅

Heya Arun, thanks for sharing your take. You sound more upset than these guys! 😄
@@motorinc yes I am! Coz what the point in calling a fundamentally flawed vehicle a lifestyle choice??
@motorinc also I need the Nissan Magnite facelift first impression episode!!❤
Hahaha! Thanks for the story!
Yess yess! Magnite facelift please

The Quality and quick summary are only two things are needed to the person thinking of buying it.
The ALFA platform was said to accommodate cars up to 4.3 m in length. My guess is Tata couldn't move the Nexon to the ALFA platform in time, due to which the Curvv remains on the older platform as its just a Nexon with a boot.

With just watched the Magnite facelift walk around in other places I think it deserves a motorinc first.
Gotcha Sah!

For example, I just love the range roverish gear knob in the automatic..
Hey J! Absolutely! The materials are so much richer. And the GV needs to step it up on this front for sure!
That’s a great argument you make there. The Punch is probably their best product.
