New Wire Marine is a great outfit. They have done some panels for me and even let me bounce some ideas off of their enginner who was a really nice and took his time with me.
You can add a ferring strip to the bottom of the housing. This will allow you to drop the cushion down off of the windshield. Pre-planning is always the hardest part. Looks great. Redoing my dash soon. Hope it looks as good as yours.
Amazing job you’ve done so far with the boat re-wiring, console panels & battery relocation. Thanks for all the great product and company recommendations. Love the channel!
Why not put the hinge on the top and the magnets on the bottom? That way, while you're running the boat, it doesn't accidentally open, and if it does, it doesn't stay open.
I agree with the guys that say “put the hinge on the top“. Not only will it secure the cushion using gravity, it will also provide a little water protection for your charge plug. This will solve a few problems in one shot.
I didn't want to do that because then you'd have to bend down to turn the switches on ;) comfort and ease lol the hatch latches will hold that cushion in place, they are also adjustable!

Very impressive craftsmanship. That looks awesome. Does your engine charge your house battery? If so how do you hook it up that way? Right now I have 2 batteries with a 1-2-ALL switch but everything (cranking and electronics) runs off whichever I have selected.
You just need to put the switch on all when you are running the engine, and it will charge both batteries, then when you stop somewhere to turn the engine off. Switch to just one of the batteries and it will use that battery to run whatever you are running, then turn it back to all when you run the engine again and it will keep the batteries charged up, both of them :)
You should've lowered the hinge and then used recessed magnets to hold it closed. Magnet on the cushion and magnet on the inside of the console with opposite polarities so they are pulling towards each other. When lowering the hinge just use a strip of 1/8" starboard to space it out the same distance as the flange of the switch plate. I would've called the place that made the switch plate to see if they could remake the back potion of the plate with the trolling motor battery display. There should've been enough room by lowering the breaker and mounting the display above it. The display is the way it will be but you could still lower the hinge
Fun project to watch. However, you don’t need a cnc cutter to make that. Could be done with a router. Given what I’ve seen of your prior work, you could clearly make it come out nice with a router. Enjoyed watching.
Have been a fan since almost the beginning, maybe four or five years now. Old mechanic going back to the seventies. Your site got me back to buying an older boat and working on it. Loving it because not only does it take back, keeps me in shape and sharp, but enjoy the rewarding feeling of getting back on the water with family and friends. Thank you!
Why screw it into thin fiberglass when your could through-bolt it with a backing pale making it a secure installation. vibration and constant movment is going to open the screw holes making the installation fail eventually.
If I had the money and space I would lol we go back and forth between the yard and Sebastian, here doing a 22 Whaler right now, but working on getting a building to d more projects quicker, and maybe eventually get a CNC ;) that would be awesome lol
@BornAgainBoating ok letting me know when you are looking at machines and software. I can send some ideas and recommendations. also help with your learning curve, and consider it paying you back with boat knowledge

Looks awesome Aaron, thanks so much for letting us be part of this project, was a lot of fun!
Looks good but might come open in some rough chop. Might have been better to hinge up than down?

Because then you have to crouch down to see under the cushion to manipulate the switches and see the display.

We be lazy around here!
Very nice! A panel build video would be great to watch too!
Epicly awesome. Clean placement. Keep@it
probably my favorite channel.
5 stars
Thank you!
Now that’s cool how that piece is made ❤
Amazing job man...the attention to detail is awesome.

Awesome brother! Looks great! Love the idea.
Thanks 👍
I really enjoy your videos. Makes me want to get a boat to use for when I go to my condo in Fl.
Put the hinges on the top. If you do this gravity will work with u. Maybe a small shock arm to hold it up as needed.

Awesome video, how much did that run you to have new wire fab?
To make the panel is about $400 but that's without the switches and everything
Should have lowered the hinge off the enclosure and added a starboard spacer to offset it.. still a very nice setup, good job
And the top of cushion would miss the windshield
Put the hinge on the top to make just a smidge water proof
I didn't want to do that because then you'd have to bend down to turn the switches on ;) comfort and ease lol the hatch latches will hold that cushion in place, they are also adjustable!
You could have an upholstery shop take whatever you need off the top of the cushion and put new vinyl on it.
That was my thoughts as well.
True that!
That was a great job.

You could have added a piece of star board to the back of the seat cushion to give you more fitment options.
Also, is your outboard motor hooked up to the LiPo starting battery? I thought motor alternators cannot properly charge LiPo batteries ??
Lot's of variables there, here's most of how I understand it: th-cam.com/video/dK8cPo9hkGg/w-d-xo.html

Do you have the link that made the casing for the battery switch.

You have to call them and they can make you whatever you want!

Thank you! yeah, working on getting some space to get stuff like that set up, table saw, router table, etc. :) Need a barn!
What's the drain for? Cup holders?
Yup cup holders :)
Another great video, I love each and everyone!
Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful 😍
Thank you!
I would love to see how its made
For sure!
Hey why not move the hinge down about half an inch right below the new bezel and fix all those issues??
Why not button studs on the seat instead of magnets ?
What a great idea
Thanks!
Luis! Thank you so much!!!!

Next time you need strong magnets, find an old hard drive and take it apart. They have millions of uses. I use them for panel bonding auto panels.
I've got some dead drives around, I'll have to take the magnets out lol :) Thank you!
How much did new wire charge you for that ?
To make the panel is about $400 but that's without the switches and everything
You even have a nice table you prob didnt expect
Ayo! True that!

Relocate the hinge DOWN an inch & everything will clear
Hindsight lol :)
@bornagsinboating bro, buy a cnc and I can help you learn to do it. also do you not work at the yard anymore? did I miss that?
If I had the money and space I would lol we go back and forth between the yard and Sebastian, here doing a 22 Whaler right now, but working on getting a building to d more projects quicker, and maybe eventually get a CNC ;) that would be awesome lol

First wave you hit and that thing will open up.
Or just cut the windshield 😊
You thought production video was super cool and wanted us to see it, then proceeds to talk over video and show tiny glimmers of it.
