Flew many times in the Argosy as an ATC cadet. Circuits and bumps from RAF Benson, an aircraft full of young lads getting in some air experience flying to put in our 3822s. Those were the days, cadets get very little air experience these days, except the occasional ride in a Grob Tutor.
I lived on the outskirts of EMA and always remember the Argosy flying over our house many times in the early 70,s when i was a young child, I was always fascinated how loud they were and the tail section of the aircraft when they flew over.
My very first flight was in WW with Sagittaire in 1971, worked with them for several years with ABC, we flew 4 of them WW,OZ,HN,RN, then along came the Vanguards and I became power plant supervisor, many good years and great memories.
In the 1980s I used to work in the Elan airside office at EMA and I believe this Argosy flew DUB-SNN-ORK route and return and carried not only Elan freight But also DHL document (green) and world parcel express WPX (red) bags. It was super reliable unlike me when one night I went airside to collect manifests and slipped and broke my wrist/ scaphoid bone. The Elan import office were a hard working but fun group and had good relations with Servisair Import Bond staff and the Chippy in Kegworth.
I got to sit in aircraft last week, thanks to the volunteers at the museum, was a great day. Definitely visit again.

Worked at AWA Baginton in the early 1960s when they were being manufactured. Great days.
Worked on them in 1962 at RAF Benson as they were arriving new.
