Hi Frankie! Ceremonial magician here, the image you showed on your phone is mislabeled as “seal of Solomon” it actually is a Pentacle from the Key of Solomon, the fifth Pentacle of Mars, used to intimidate and command demons. You most likely didn’t use that for healing 😅. The symbol in your book looks familiar to the actual Pentacle of Solomon (the one from the Heptameron), or the Hexagonal figure of Solomon (from the Goetia). They’re not specifically used for healing, but they’re basically protection Talismans, I’m guessing you may have found them and modified some parts to better fit your practice, who knows! Much love ❤️

If it's something you're interested in doing, it would be really cool to see you pick out a couple spells from your old workings and revise them to something you would do now.
I like this idea a lot too. It would be really helpful to see you actively revise a spell, and how you do that. Troubleshooting magic isn't talked about enough, in my opinion.

My first spell was also a snow spell! Did very little, my brother and I tossed a couple trays of ice cubes into the toilet because we wanted snow for Christmas (2015?ish) and we got a deep freeze through to February. Not unusual for our province but the timing was incredible! Definitely my first lesson on specificity (i did /not/ want -40°C thanks)
I used to do that! I painted on the EXACT temp. In blue food coloring on the ice cube then tossed it in and it worked!
"That's so much work! Just...sweep" is my new motto 😂 It's fun to experiment and try new things but it's nice to remember that the simplest things are often all you need. Thanks for sharing this, it was delightful to hear your old spells. There's something about that looking-back-on-your-old-self feeling that can be so cringey but at the same time so tender and relateable. It's beautiful how we grow and learn.
6 yrs ago I did a Letting Go spell for this guy i didn’t want to have a crush on. It was a 3 day spell and i stopped on day 2. I still like him and i blame it on the spell lol
Hey Frankie! I just wanted to say that this was not only a really fun video but also just nice because it inspires the part of me that has that fear when starting a notebook/journal/BOS. It takes pressure off from that need to have a perfect book because we’ll never be a “perfect practitioner” and that helps to think about!

I remember the first spell I ever tried to do. I was 12-13 when I tried to do "vampire spells" I found online. I even tried to do a frozen spell at one point. Younger me was trippin lol
Same same, what type of "spell" didnt I use. I had wolf one, vampire one, mermaid one, fairy etc like what if those actually worked 😭😭

I just watched that episode of AHS Coven today and I think that might have been where you heard that quote.
I am a new practitioner only 3 months in. But because I live in a Christian home that condemns witchcraft, I am in the closet. I have to use what I have to go to simple things like salt or a broom. I used to use tools like candles and other hurbs, but my family found them and threw them out. I have grown alot scene I am starting simple and using what I have that connects with me.
My early spells were similar to yours. 🙋♀️ I used a bunch of herbs and oftentimes my spell focus was not clear enough. It was a little bit all over the place. 😅 My craft is simpler now and I'm in the process of simplifying it even more. And I also write less stuff down. But after watching the video, I feel like updating my Book Of Shadows with some newer magic, so I won't forget. I've been a journaler ever since I was 9 years old and it's so good to be able to look back. 🎁
I have that exact same notebook! I still think there's nothing like it and I hope to find it again for another journal/book of mirrors.
I feel like most of my spells these days are just throw stuff in bowl, light candle, and maybe ask Persephone or Apollo to help with it. Younger me was like I must do whole ritual, now I'm just tired 😆

My first "spell" was more of a ritual. I did what I called a self-love spell. Won't go into detail, but it worked. Next, I was going to make a charm bag for dreams, but my friend enchanted something for the same purpose and gave it to me. I feel very blessed, but would have loved the opportunity to make/enchant my own charm.
I have a visceral memory of getting a phishing scam in my email about a fake spellbook and at the time I knew nothing about witches even existing, so I looked it up thinking it had to be a joke and now I've been practicing for 5 years
I WHEEZED my way through this video... it's always so much fun to look back at the beginnings of practice and go, much like Frankie did, "what the f*cK iS going On"
The first spell for snow reminds me of trying to summon snow for a snow day as a teen. Peak teenage witchcraft.

Hello! I found you while I was desperately in a need of help and control over my new granted power, I’m a Wicca currently, still studying and trying to figure out what kind of witch I want to mainly be (green, cooking, Etc) but the first day I started all of my studying I found a spell I shouldn’t have even been looking for, it was a love spell, I did it and regretted it right after, as I didn’t know spells took your energy and how powerful a spell could be, thankfully I found a way to undo my mistake but still, I’m happy to have found you, as with some and most of your videos I feel a sense of guidance so thank you!
The sigil you showed at the beginning of the video looks to me that it came probably came from maybe the greater key of Solomon. I definitely seen it before. I know the feeling at being bad of at keeping record of the stuff you do. I started practicing around 2009, ( I was in my 20ths back than.) but I didn't start to actually really write stuff down till I was 39. I'm nearly 42 now. There is so much I forgot that I wished I wrote down. I actually journaling everything down now, and I've definitely seen a positive change in my practice. I feel way more active now that I did in years
i am currently separated from all my old grimoires due to a dramatic move across country, so i've actually recently been trying to recall old spells, etc! this was so fun to see because of that! one of mine i remember was an adjusted (for fire safety & ingredients) summoning spell that backfired so bad i never saw that person ever again lmao
I started when I was eleven and it was soo hard to even start, I had no idea what had to do I gave up months and came back and gave up again and my parents did not like witchcraft stuff and so I had even less space to figure things out and ended up with only protection, grounding, centering, moon water, cleansing and only that. Kind of wished I just f♡ck around, that way I would do more then only research (but definitely no curses or smth, we do not f♡ck with that). I do kind of think that a snow spell is a great idea, I love snow

My earliest that I have is still pretty cringe right up until it sank in that it didn't need to be perfect. Then it gets decent.
That was only 4 years ago roughly now. And I've been practicing since 2001, since 16. Something about the age 16... 😅.
I think we all have had that snow spell at 16 or so.
Same with me! I started literally a few weeks after turning sixteen and one of the first things I did that winter was wish for snow days. (They were granted. Everyone kept begging for more but I didn’t want to break the streak.)

Most of my initial spells were jar spells. And then I discovered that leaves and flowers are way more fun for me and I can just use them. Maybe a candle if I’m feeling fancy.

My first ever spell (that I can remember) was a spontaneous weather spell. I still do those in much the same way, only bigger.

@@Jo333wat To answer question one, sometimes I do it depends on whether or not I care about people hearing me, Question two, if I understand what you're asking, it's mostly improv for me. I only learned that the Sami people did some of the same things I did long after I started doing them. If you're wanting to know how to do it, here's what I do. I get into a meditative state and try to match the "emotional vibe" of the current weather. Then, visualizing clearly what I'm after, I chant/sing/whisper to raise or lower the "emotional vibe" of the weather. If I'm trying to get storms, dancing helps. If I'm trying to calm the weather, I'll usually end up sitting on the floor, arms raised, palms facing the ground. I recommend wearing something that billows.

Hi frankie! let me just start by saying i adore watching your videos and your tiktoks. they make my day. i also just had a question or 2. so ive been into crystals and what they do and learning about spells and witchy things for a long while now. i went through a phase where i didn't believe in those things because of my family at some point but there also homophobic and a lot of other things that i am most certainly not so i just went down my own path because i dont have to believe what they do. anyways, i recently got some crystals and i feel like they arent really doing anything for me. im not sure how to explain what i mean. ik they arent there to magically fix all my life problems lmao but i dont feel..ig connected..to them? i also have been wanting to start practicing witch craft as well, im not sure where to start though im having trouble with that. ive always loved this type of stuff though i tried to push it away for a while due to family like i said, but i want to embrace it as its something im passionate about. all though i will have to hide it for a while. do you have any tips on where to start? i know researching comes first and ive done that but i dont know what exactly im researching. so sorry if i sound dumb, i suck at wording things. also, ik there is most likely a lot of spelling errors, we just ignore those.😭

it’s interesting to watch your practice shift. evoking random deities with a-lot-of-simple-action spells to a concentrated practice with less but more spiritually complex actions. it’s quite relatable, i suppose it’s just a person learning what works and what doesn’t and finding a ‘sect’ of the craft that fits them, if you will.
a note on the wiccan rede, it’s quite exaggerated online and i know no wiccans who actually follow it (or follow it in the way the internet portrays such as harming literally no one and the x3 rule). absolutely no disrespect to you but it could be useful to make that distinction and note the nuance of wiccan beliefs as your platform is so large

May I ask why you changed the title from "Book of Shadows" to "Old Spells"? I remember reading a few discussions on Twitter about why "book of shadows" is problematic but have since forgotten/can't re-find them.
Hi Samantha! The title was always reacting to my old spells, it’s just the thumbnail my editor created said reacting to my old BoS. Personally, I don’t feel like BoS makes sense in my practice (it’s a Wiccan term). I did an IG post about it in the past!

STORYTIME ABOUT THE SPIRIT IN MY HOUSE
- one day I started to feel a weird presence near my bathroom, aka the guest's bathroom. New to the Witchcraft thing, I decided I would try to contact them and peacefully ask them to get outta my home.
The same night, I went to sleep and in my vivid dream, every time I turned around, I would see a weird, tall white dude staring at me for 3 hot seconds.
I woke up in the middle of the night, only seeing it staring at me in the corner of my room. (not a dream)
It went away since, but I've seen a similar figure a few days ago.. what should I do?
