I have the opposite view. That being a pilot, one would be less afraid as a passanger on a small plane. Veering off course for a couple of minutes is really not much of an issue. I'm only surprised about the lack of pilot's headset. Could he have had another pod in his left ear that he could hear radio communications through? It's difficult enough to hear with a great headset.

We would drive down from Los Angeles, park on the US side, take a taxi to downtown in a beat up ex-US taxi which in turn was an ex-US police car with a bad alignment and suspension. This flight reminded me of that, but in an airplane. But, vehicles aside, I never had trouble in Tijuana in all the years and times (dozens and dozens) I had been. As far as trouble being the plane--yes he found trouble and trouble found him, no doubt!

That's actually a really nice airplane. It's a 2007 Cessna 208B Grand Caravan. It was in a runway excursion in 2011. The plane overran the runway in Cabo San Lucas airport but there was no damage. An airplane's age is not important because every year and every 2000 hours most of the components are replaced with new parts. What really matters in aviation is good maintenance.

I was both horrified and amused at the same time, at that awful flight. It must be even worse when you're a qualified pilot and can see everything happening that shouldn't be. I'm not a qualified pilot, but this was so bad that I think I would have noticed anyway; certainly the fact that (a) there was no co-pilot and (b) the majority of the flight was over water in a single engine aircraft!

    • @GoalkeeperzTM
