Always wondered what was going on with New Pacific these days. Good to see that they are still flying, although now its only in a charter capacity. Hopefully we see them eventually get back to their promised route network over to Asia!
Flawed business model, with these old school 752s they can barely make it to Tokyo/Osaka on a good day out of ANC using Russian airspace, nothing beyond. Iceland is a great place for a stopover, but Anchorage? Mimicking the Icelandair model isn't a given because the Atlantic is a much shorter crossing.
You had to appreciate flying in a 757 for the first time in the 80's going from the anemic take off and climb out of the 727's and DC's to the rocket of the 757, what a hoot.
Totally agree, i was a kid used to flying in the UK on charter airlines that used 727s, 737-200s and BAC1-11. Then in 1988 a 757 flight to Orlando via Bangor Maine from Manchester and wow it was like a rocket and engine nose on the RB211 was so different.
@@peterfinn6098 I'll never forget getting thrown back into my seat during the initial take off roll on that flight, and thinking "Oh my gosh, the power of this thing!".
Yes, I still recall being a passenger going from a 737 to a 757 and experiencing that takeoff power - it was like going up in a lift (elevator) in comparison. At the other end of the scale was the A340-200/300 that felt like it was having trouble taking off at all.
I've flown the 757 twice, once on Canada 3000 from Calgary to Maui, and once on Delta from Dallas to Puerto Rico. They were, and still are, my favorite plane to fly on. They have been called a sportscar for the air and the way they rocket off the runway is a blast.
glanced at the thumbnail earlier and thought i was looking at an a350, the black around the cockpit windows really makes the plane look so much "newer"
New Pacific is the charter airline for the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, NC, so we get to see these guys every now and then at RDU in addition to Delta’s 757s that go to ATL
I remember flying YVR-YYZ on a 757-200 with Harmony Airways many years back... very powerful jet, and those RR engines sounded epic. One of the few airlines in Canada that operated 757's in passenger service.
New sub! I really liked your presentation of New Pacific. I remember when they started up and was intrigued by their business aspirations. I’m sad it didn’t work out for now. Thanks for the straight forward commentary, the excellent sounds of the RB211 and not taking an hour of taxi vid!😂
Thanks Alex, really appreciate your content. Especially as you recently covered airline accounts I support as an AD (i.e. Air North, New Pacific, etc.)
That aircraft is so iconic, love those RR engines! Raised in Alaska, I was hoping for greater things from this air carrier but wish them success in the “charter” arena. Thanks for this video, Alex, safe flying!!
Finnair used to operate B752's to holiday destinations as chartered to Aurinkomatkat (Suntravels, finnish travel agency) until 2014. I flew on it multiple times, longest flights being HEL-LPA-FOR (stop in LPA for fuel) and HEL-AMD-HKT. (with again stop in AMD for fuel) I was really young, like 7-8 years old and i remember how crammed it was. So little legroom but no wonder, the plane had the maximum amount of seats allowed. (all economy) Hated the interior but loved the performance and the pw2000 noise :D
Thanks for posting this HD video - the 757 is an incredible jetliner I have been admiring for many years. The that take off from Reno demonstrates the performance & power of the RR engines! Hopefully you post more 757 trips
Thank you for sharing your flight here. I hope this new airline makes it. The sports team chartering would have money to be made! Nice!😊 Yes, I do love flying the 757s in general. They are beautiful aircraft.
Thanks Alex! I saw them passing through CYYZ last week and again today, charters as you confirmed for me in the video. The aircraft you flew on is operating CYYZ-CYEG at this very moment.
That beast with its sound! That's awesome! Great video this! It brought back memories from my childhood during which I flew 11 times on B752s exclusively, on Finnair, Spanair and Airtours International specifically. 🤓
Classic 757 video right here! Sweet views, excellent sound footage and my god that rocket ship take-off was gorgeous thank you for making this video, Alex!
I always see them fly out of Newark and wanted to know how they were. Lucky for me one of the best flight reviewers made a video on them. Thank you for this video. Have a good day🙏
So jealous. the 757 is my favourite airliner. I last managed to catch one in 2006. Magnificent aircraft for an avgeek. The sounds are amazing and it climbs like a homesick angel too
I just saw a new pacific 757 land at yyz today came in from Bedford. I was curious when I saw the plane no one I normally see and then younhave a video about the airline same day love it
I fly on the 757-F a lot at my airline. They are fun birds to fly on but it’s a bit too small not really comfortable but when we send them out on charters we usually have 1 pallet stack loaded (roughly 4000 lbs) and around 40,000 lbs of fuel. So you can imagine we are really light on T/O. On V/S we are usually 4500-5000 FPM.
I had to chuckle when you said that you were told that it would “get bumpy” descending into RNO. When DOESN’T it get bumpy going into RNO? Or out of RNO for that matter? My two 757 flights were MSP-MKE and DEN-ABQ. Amazing aircraft.
What a cool airline! I'd fly with them any chance I could get! Hoping they succeed in this extremely difficult segment of airline flights ✈️ 🙏 ❤😊 I've always been a huge fan of the 757 it's a total pocket rocket 🚀 of passenger jets! Love the 757's angle of attack on the climb outs
I really hope they bring back normal passenger operations, because that flight looked amazing. That livery is stunning too, and I really want to see it.
I live in Anchorage and am very sad about the news. They had just spent months refurbishing the old North Terminal at ANC, which was built in the early '80s for the then-booming international stopover scene before being left abandoned for over 30 years once flights were able to bypass ANC.
As a once US Airways tech who documented all my work since 1980...I've worked on THIS very aircraft a bunch in MCO as N631AU. Reliable as you can imagine.
I hope this new airline can be successful and hopefully Anchorage can serve as its new hub as originally intended! Those 757’s look really nice in that livery!
Have flown the 757-200 several times from Las Palmas to Tromsø.(LPA-TOS). It was Spanair who operated them. On the way down they always had a stopover in Madrid to change crew. Spanair is no more and today all this traffic is taken over by the a321.
Unpopular opinion maybe, but Boeing did not make a mistake stopping production of these and made the right call to go all in with 737 NG family and have the 737-900ER fulfill at least some of the 757 market. I’m not sure anyone could have foresaw how the middle-of-market, direct flights to small cities market, would have played out in the 15-20 years since 757 production stopped. Even if it could be fitted with modern engines, it would stand little chance against the A321neo family because the 75 is just so much heavier. Regardless, still such a cool airplane and I really would like to fly on one soon and experience that takeoff 😊 Great video Alex!
Thanks for the video. I love their colors. I'd love to see you doing a video showing your gear. Your camera, how you film. What bag you take for light travel. If I fly again I want to film as well but my cameras are all old.
It was interesting when I saw the charter plane for tim walz with the eyeliner. Didn't realize it was a new pacific plane with a slightly modified livery
I dont know if you have gotten to fly on a 717 yet, but we have one flying under Delta that flies between MSP and GRR twice a day. Super neat plane to work as a controller, I've seen it do some really impressive stuff!
Wonderful aircraft. We are lucky here in the UK that Jet2 still fly 757s to holiday destinations, and I have flown on them 3 times in the last few years, out of Manchester. Sadly, they are due to be phased out in 2025.
757-200 is one of my favourite aircraft. I was lucky enough to fly on a BA 757 from London Heathrow to Manchester, before most of the mainstream carriers started phasing them out.
Hopefully they can survived, there's a lot of more worst airlines in my country still can survived even i hope they didnt, because of the service are very bad 😞 Thanks for sharing the videos ❤️
Can't wait for Nuuk to become the new Keflavik starting this month! Just need more through flights from North America, United's summer adventure series excluded although super cool....
Thought for sure Vr was gonna be before the 1,000 Footers there lmao. That thing really does hit Vr quick and even Thrust Reduction alt quite quick too. That would be a hand-full for me to manage.
I live here in Reno. The descent into KRNO is always bumpy. Even in the winter. I also have a friend who knows a guy who is an ATC operator at Reno airport
It's unfortunate (but not unexpected) that NPA's scheduled service didn't work out. They really did invest well into their brand (especially before they had to change to "New") and hard product. Man those birds look great. Hope they find success & sustainability in the charter market. With iAero out, they certainly have opportunities.

GOOD LORD that takeoff pitch is INSANE. Gotta love the good ole 757! Thanks Alex!
I like how on that first takeoff it was already on a steep climb and then it just went even steeper!
I think ontario airport has a specifc noise regulation that requires thas aircraft must take off that steep in order to reduce noise.
@@adamclabaugh1945 I thought only KSNA had these cool take offs :)
@@adamclabaugh1945that’s typically nearby Santa Ana
Until you have to fuel them then they become giant pieces of shit 🤮🤮🤮🤮

Yeah that sounded wicked cool. Maybe they can buy a second hand 787
Feels bad for them because of the Russian airspace problem. This could make the whole business model barely profitable due to the added complexity.
Flawed business model, with these old school 752s they can barely make it to Tokyo/Osaka on a good day out of ANC using Russian airspace, nothing beyond. @@kangaroo5189 The business model was never profitable. It's also taking down their Alaskan operation.
Alex I like the "oddball" flights you are catching, keep up the good work!
I flew that very airplane as Captain with UsAirways, great to see the old gal back ln the air again! The 757-200 was a Corvette of the air.
Cool story...looks like they have really fixed her up really well. Its an interesting business model.

757 best plane.

Damn, that's one hell of a beautiful livery.. That climb out of KONT and the thrust reduction of the buzzsawing RB211's is a beautiful song
Holy cannoli, that’s not a takeoff, that’s a rocket launch.
The last of the "muscle" jets, their power to weight ratio was great!
I remember flying YVR-YYZ on a 757-200 with Harmony Airways many years back... very powerful jet, and those RR engines sounded epic. One of the few airlines in Canada that operated 757's in passenger service.
5:55, getting that N1 to 40%, then hitting the TOGA. Love the 757.
Weirdo
The flying pencil is so cooool!
I love that you didn't talk over the AMAZING accoustics of the 757 on takeoff.
Did anyone notice that climb out? My God was there some kind of noise ordnance or mountains to avoid? They were at least 8,000 in a blink of an eye.
It’s a 757, climbs like you’re shooting at it. And only a few hundred mile flight, you’re well under MTOW.
Climbs like a homesick angel...
They tried to give the 757 eyeliner 😂
those engines sound wonderful! It is so nice having a youtuber who makes such great content who is also from my hometown!
