Hey, I wanted to report back to you! I did some research on my own and found that it is *best* to do this BEFORE you are going to use the strawberries instead of when you get them home from the store. They will get yucky if you do them all at once as soon as you get them home. This is because the added moisture will cause the fruit to start breaking down. Instead anyone trying this, use this trick before you use your berries, so they stay fresh longer of course the vinegar will help with that too! If you’re reluctant to eat berries for this reason, I highly consider buying Organic where you have less pesticides. I have yet to see a bug in my strawberries 🤞🏼 I have seen them in regular (not organic) raspberries. This trick with vinegar or salt water really works. With vinegar you want 4 part water and 1 part vinegar-you will not have to worry about your berries tasting vinegar-y. 😊
I am soooo glad there was no bugs I'm still going to clean mine very well but I was so grossed out thinking this was a normal thing that bugs were inside strawberries I've eaten over the years! >.
I know I've eaten bugs without realizing it (several) but I'll spare you the story. I don't want to ruin any fruit or vegetables for anyone. They're so good for us.
I just did this with baking soda and water… and a couple of LIVE bugs started crawling around. WASH THEM ALL. Not every batch may have them, but please after what I just saw you need to wash
@Ghost-zc2fi yessss, i put a batch in salt water, but they are small. You need to stand & watch & you will definitely see them. They arent in every berry or batch but this batch had lots! It made me stop eating strawberries for almost 3 yrs until i did apples & those worms are way bigger than the berries. They are on everything.🤷♀️
I’m so grossed out by those TikTok videos I can’t eat them anymore… since the FDA issued a recall on Strawberries this week, I tried this experiment with the ones in my fridge and didn’t find any bugs but I only waited about 10 minutes.. ugh some things you just can’t unsee ☹️ I stopped eating apples for this reason too. So gross 😣
you can find bugs in any type of food. The FDA allows a certain amount of bug parts in food because its more expensive to completely remove the bugs. I guess you're just gonna starve then.
I don’t care, they are still there. I’m terrified of bugs…even microscopic ones. I know they’re important, but I wish most of them would be annihilated. I’m just frozen looking at these raspberries
No, it's normal. We've all eaten bugs and dirt. We just don't usually think about it. I'm kind of glad this trend passed and if you know me, I've got to try it...

Is it bad that I don’t care? Like if anything it’s extra protein. 😂😂

Bigger and white opaque bowls. You can soak them better and see the impurities and bugs right away.

How about telling us how much longer strawberries last treating them that way as opposed to naturally
If people feel this grossed about berries or produce in general if they only knew about chocolate lol
What do you mean exactly 😩
Vinegar smells HORRID but so USEFUL 4 SO MANY DIFF THINGS!!!
It's true, it stinks! Luckily the smell doesn't last but not my favorite!
They’re too small to see like that
You need a microscope to see the bugs
In that case I’m happy I 🍓 wash them first.
