Gyroflow 1.1 was released today and it has major improvements to the gyro sync algorithm that'll probably help with this camera. I haven't tried it yet with the Thumb but it's a night and day difference with other budget cameras like the Mobius Maxi 4K.
@AndyRC The Thumb does NOT have to be powered by the battery when plugged into USB. The USB powers it just fine. Also, micro USB. Not USB-C as you stated. Bonus feature, plug in USB and hit the power button. The computer will then recognize the Thumb as a webcam.
@@AndyRCchannel totally possible. I have a tablet that won't power some whoops when plugged in to betaflight, but does others and stacks just fine. Best guess I got is that the USB power was only made to meet minimum spec of something like 5v 500ma. I don't know off the top of my head what the Thumb requires.
Great fun review. Video against the yellow flowers turned out well. Almost seemed like a butterfly, or bee dancing in a field of flowers. 1S has many challenges, like brownouts, but that's part of reality. Personally I prefer 2S+ quads, as avoids the potential of a video, FC brownout in last minute of flights. Just received my Thumb. No perfect, but for the price and the versatility of a lightweight camera it offers options and value than are hard to match in some applications. Example, placing on a wing, or rudder of a plane, or rearview secondary camera in combo with Go2 on a quad/plane.
Great video Andy! I bought a Runcam Thumb for my 3" and my planes, so far i am loving it! The small form factor quad is pretty awesome, especially if you dont have a large space to fly in! Something this size is definitely on my future shopping list!
They don't intend for you to use the GNB 27 to ph2.0 adapter to power the quad, that's so you can still charge the gnb27 batteries on your old ph2.0 chargers.
Thank you Andy! I was looking your last video that you said you don't want to review the thumb, but I'm very glad you did! I ordered it some days ago, and I know the struggle with gyroflow (I use hero4 with fc data), so I wanted a proper review to see the end footage with hard work in the sync points.. Did you record 1080p 30fps for better resolution/bitrate? Thank you!
New drone buyer here, I have a pretty low end radio transmitters (radiomaster t8 lite) and can only connect to the d8 or d16 protocol and i plan on upgrading to a transmitter with a module bay, If i bought a firefly with crossfire or elrs receiver, can i still bind to the built aio receiver? Or should i just buy the frsky version
I was cracking up listening to you bro great review filled with a all very good information. “It will fall off of you do anything more then breath on it
how much does the runcam alone cost? did you buy this out of pocket? its sort of hard to justify paying $200 for a mini drone when you can put that for a regular sized larger one
60fps. Would only use 50fps if flying indoors in the uk as 60fps would cause lights to flicker. It comes with 60fps set as standard so only need to turn on gyro option
new to this and i just purchased a new Radiomaster TX16S 4in1... . which ELRS module would you recommend . My flying style would be something like Nick Burns does , around the house and backyard .
If you buy Flywoo, expect zero warranty support at all. I bought a Flywoo that blew up when I plugged it in after just one flight. $500 gone. What am I suppose to do with it? It will never fly again. 100% write off. If you're AndyRc and get newcrrrp for free every week, ok, throw it in the junk box for parts, but for the rest of us, having our one and only quad blow up brand new when we treated it like glass crystal... Flywoo is unacceptable.
This one isn't from flywoo it's from Banggood. Iv never bought directly from flywoo. But you will get better support from bangood. And always pay with Paypal then you can raise a refund request. Wouldn't say boycott flywoo personally. They have progressed the hobby in certain aspects. Sorry you had a bad experience. As for the "if you are andyrc comment" I understand your frustrations. But with all due respect you don't know what it's like to be me.
Boycott Flywoo Bad products with only 2 week warranty. When you report a problem to you, they offer you a 10% coupon on a new FC. What? No. The FC is fine, the ESC is toast. Do you know the difference even? You shipped me a badkt desugbed quad that blew up when I plugged it in.

They also have to factor in user error which is very hard not to prove in this hobby
@@AndyRCchannel Yep, Flywoo ended my RC career after just one flight. That makes it the worst RC company ever, imho. Which is why all my videos of the last 2 years have been in the sim th-cam.com/video/BlMnuymspxI/w-d-xo.html Most of my RC equipment I bought off Bangood as well. At least they give you a year, unlike Flywoo's.. 2 weeks. What a joke. Not even enough time to configure it in Betaflight and create a model. So yeah, no more Flywoo until I take 415 English pounds out of their hide in comment posts. @@AndyRCchannel Sorry, you said Firefly, and I heard Firefly, but all I could think of was my traumatic psychological experience with Flywoo. How far are you from Coventry? I write back and forth to a nice polite girl super cute gor; with social phobia in Coventry every day. I sent her about 150 pounds this year via Paypal so she'd have more to eat than just bacon. She tries to make extra money via sewing but that just don't cut it in 2022. I told her if we're still friends in 3 years I'll send her a round trip ticket to come to the US for a summer, or I'll go to England and then Europe to fly the Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, EuroDisney when it's closed, Switzerland and Austria.
@@choppergirl I'm 50 minutes away from Coventry that's a very kind gesture you are doing for that person. I have social anxiety, general anxiety and depression so I can imagine that you are helping that person a lot. Yes when things go wrong in the hobby it can be extremely frustrating and traumatic. I myself have been guilty of outbursts and wanting to boycott companies. Especially when you feel there is nothing you can do about it. I believe a lot of people have abandoned fpv for this very reason and it's sad. The issue really is that china / Asia is the only place able to make this stuff. I hope one day there is a way that other countries are able to do it and make it affordable.
@@AndyRCchannel I think everywhere in southern England is 50 minutes from everywhere else almost lol. London anyway. Alexa tells e the weather there, you're 30F always colder than me. Blazing hot 100F here now. I tried to convince her instead of sewing and selling it, to sew up some character or cosplay outfits, and get people to donate to get their picture taken with her out on the street because she was an amateur model. She's 27. I told her for starters she could get some flight goggles and make up a WW2 RAF outfit with boots, and play Spitfeur Anne for the tourists and hang around the local museum there where they have a Spitfire and Hurricane, and tell some history off her head about the Blitz or Bombing of Coventry, and maybe she'd be a hit with the locals or get in the newspaper. People eat up that WW2 stuff here on TH-cam. I'd even pay for the outfit materials. I was painfully shy and still can't do cold calls or interviews. I overcame the rest by FPS gaming. You can't be shy when you're i war mode. Or angry. Or mad about something. All shyness just goes otu the window. If you ever need to suddenly get assertive to do something that you just got to do, try it, get angry. At your phobia or some perceived injustice. You look at shy kids, and when they feel they just got scr3wed by their sibling at home, they are in no way shy at all... in fact, viscious assertive. So it's all a imagination thing running wild in your head and fear of unknown. Take a few steps to know somethign firsta bot what scares you, so it's not a black box unknown, and it becomes less intimidating. I got a collection of RC stuff about like yours, probably even more and higher end. How does it compare to the baby ape?
You can't compare them. Baby ape is a 3 inch toothpick type model.
You're lucky that received Thumb with no lens tilting. Very sharp decent image.
Is your lens tilting by default? Please send a video to run@runcam.com to confirm and get a solution. Thanks
What's the little jump in zoom on the runcam thumb that we see every once in a while?
One is stabilized with gyro flow and one is not. It tells u which is which in the bottom left corner of the screen
