  • In our search to improve our abilities, and to improve the abilities of our horses, we often leave out the most important ability of all. And that, in my opinion, is dependability.

I’m betting what your pastor said was something closer to “God doesn’t need your abilities. He has all the ability needed. He needs your availability. He needs you to be like Isaiah and say ‘Here I am! Send me!’”
    Great video. Tons of truth!

As an electrician I was once worked for a pretty big company. There was this one person that worked for the company that everyone kind of gave him a hard time cause he was kinda goofy, worked slow and guys always would say to the foreman that he really doesn’t have the skills that a 3rd year apprentice should have. I remember one day in the trailer one of the guys asked our foreman why do they keep this guy? The foreman answered: because he’s here every day. Then the foreman asked, do you happen to know what time he gets here every morning? The guy answered no I don’t. Foreman said you don’t know because he’s here before you everyday. He said I can teach the young man skills. I’ll always remember that. Thanks for your time making these great videos

This was some of the very best advice i have ever heard. Five years ago i got a job in a field that was new to me. In an office i had always worked blue collar and only had a HS diploma. I was rough around the edges and green as can be, but I was always early listened well, stayed on the ball. just being driven to be present and dependable made me more valuable that the most titlted and degree laden co-worker. 5 years in and i have tripled my income working from home. just showing up and doing the work can make one successful, its not really that complicated.

Dependability is the characteristic every masculine virtue has in common. When you consider the four "tactical virtues" from Jack Donovan's "The Way of Men": strength, courage, mastery, and honor, they all have to do with whether or not a man will "do to ride the river with" or not.

Ramon Adams explains that phrase in "The Old-Time Cowhand" as originating "back in the old days when brave men had to swim herds across swollen, treacherous rivers. The act required level-headed courage; and as time passed, this phrase acquired the meanin' that the one spoken of was loyal, dependable, trustworthy, and had plenty of sand"

Some of the best, most dependable riding horses I've ever had could be hard to catch. Got one now, he's a soldier once you get him caught. Same horse if he gets 6 months off or rides every day.
Taken me a while, but we've finally just about got the catch quirk licked.
I think horses and people that are dependable get asked to work much more than the slackers and sometimes get hard to catch or pin down. That's why they need those days off.

    Companies..we are just human capital.
Community? Are they OUR community? Do they share my values?
Tribe? Are we tribe? WE need to see.

I found you through learning to smoke a tobacco pipe, I also found The Pipe Cottage independently and decided I liked you two and subscribed. Then, I see that you two did a video together, then I saw that you had a WY mug in that video you did with The Pipe Cottage and looked you up and found that I'm right near you, having moved to Gillette two weeks ago! What a serendipitous series of events!

Im new to the channel but I just wanted to say that I appreciate you very much, I have been watching video after video and I know im not alone in saying I have not had a father figure growing up, or at least not a good one, so your videos and lessons are really helping me become a better man and I wanted to thank you for that.

Your voice is soothes me no matter what you talk about. When my mind is bombarding me with suicidal thoughts and I can't breathe, I listen to you. I listen to you talk about cigars or your horses or whatever is important to you.

I'm only half way through but great video bro I love this comparing horse to people thing is gold. Thanks bro. Might take me a few years, but I'm going to get to y'all's level one day. I too am the most dependable, it's the only thing that put me above the guys that knew more than me I was already doing that bro. Seriously thanks 🙏
