In reality, when this fight broke out and Hurrem was badly wounded, it was Valide who took care of keeping Mahidevran away from Hurrem. For her, Hurrem mattered a lot because she saw how much her son adored her and how much she adored her son. She knew that Hurrem loved Suleiman not for his power but for the person he was, unlike Mahidevran. In fact, she even sent the foreign concubines away because she saw it made Hurrem upset and sad. But truth be told, despite the intentions of Mahidevran, you can't help but feel bad about her in the end. Honestly as beautiful as the harem and Topakai palace is, the environment created in the harem is incredibly toxic and unhealthy. Plus it was suleman who actually caused the problem, if he'd just bothered to listen or at least show, Mahidrevan a scrap of affection that would never have happened. She was trying to tell him, but he just kept lavishing attention on Hurrem and ignoring mahidrevan, the frustration of being ignored like that obviously caused a serious breakdown for her.

Alexandra in the beginning would not have cared what her face look like, it was her character that she valued. In reality, no one would have really cared if she got bashed around a little bit. People keep blaming Mahidevran and Hurrem but I think the main problem here is the Sultan. According to history he was indeed a great politician and emperor. Thus, considering he had that much influence on the population, he should’ve stuck with one woman from the beginning to the end (a Queen) without the harem system. The destruction of the harem system was the solution to all his personal problems, if the history about their jealousy almost destroying Sultan Suleiman’s kingdom is to be believed
but back in the days most emperors had harems to ensure that he had a heir when he passes away. what if an emperor only had 1 wife and she couldn’t give him an heir? and he could’ve taken another child and raised him as his heir but the court definitely would object to that, so that’s why a harem was established back in the days. i don’t like the idea of a harem at all, but that was back then.
