    Been shooting Howard Hill style bows starting at 11 years old. I am now 70 and still love to shoot and hunt. That is a nice and well proportioned bow. Enjoy, Danny- Have to add, was eating dinner while watching your video - Fried gator tail and hushpuppies, shot the gator with a hickory long bow.

    Robert, I have Swamp Music’s older sister, Sweet Music. She is the same construction, string follow, except with brown glass on the back. Very tiny tips and shoots like a dream.
    I would put them 200 grain broadheads on your arrows and see how they fly. You just might not need to cut them any shorter.
    Enjoy and thanks for your videos.

    Is this bow a string follow design?
    How long did you have to wait from order to receipt?

    • @robertcarte95
      @robertcarte95  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is a string follow. I did not order the bow. I have been talking with Nate several years and he built it for me. He does have a business and bow building is more of a hobby. I'm not sure if you can order one.

    I recommend Great Plains Traditional Bow Co where they have a Howard Hill Model, they are willing to make if you ask for it, they are skinny limb bows like above and have a minor backset of 2 degrees. Just ask for grip style of straight, dished or medium--deep locator/universal notched, only 3 grips used for longbows. Do realize bow will be made 1/8 past center cut and use Laminae layers of bamboo and wood outer with carbon fiber center.
    I have a Bow from Great Plains Traditional Bow Co where bow is a Youth Longbow 52 inches as I only have a 24--24.5 inch draw and bow is 45--46 pounds at my draw as I say a bow is 45 pounds. Now I only mention bow becuse if you look at the mild reflex deflex design limbs where limb looks like a straight reflex deflex bow you will see how skinny limbs they are like bow above and some later models of Howard Hill brand bows some still made by his son when he was using fiberglass. My bow is different using more layers between bow limbs however, they use a carbon fiber core and bamboo as well as wood Carbon fiber core is so laminate layers can be made super skinny in limb and not twist. I got model as it comes with a mid-depth locator/universal notched grip as I like a mid-depth locator/universal notched grip for longbows and some more longbow shaped riser/handle recurve. If I were to make bows, a material I would look at is.

      The bow that Great Plaines offers is the furthest thing from the bow featured in this video. You may as well shoot a modern R/D bow if you need the features offered in Great Plaines “Hill Style” bow. It takes away from everything a true Hill style bow brings to the Hill style shooter.

    • @caseysmith544
      @caseysmith544 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@VersatileHunter no they have a model you need to ask for as is not on the website.

    • @VersatileHunter
      @VersatileHunter 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@caseysmith544 I know. I’ve seen it in multiple videos. It resembles nothing of an actual Hill style bow. They came out with it when all the hype about ASLs started recently. Either you apreciate and stick with the true Hill style bow or you go with something else. You can’t take a Hill design, change it to be like a more modern longbow and still call it “Hill Style”

    Robert it kills me to see you go down the advertising billboard path. Many folks buy what you put on your TH-cam. Sure like your walks in the trees what us common folk do. Starting sound like Northern Mist Jason.

    • @robertcarte95
      @robertcarte95  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      I'm not advertising anything. I Bought this bow with hard earned money and love it so I say that. Nobody gives or pays me to say anything. If I talk about a product it's because it works for me and I want to share that info. I also have a Northern Mist. Highly recommend them as well as my Creek Walker Hill bow . No advertising here just showing a fine bow I am very happy to own.

    • @VersatileHunter
      @VersatileHunter 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is the furthest thing from advertising. Mr. Carter here is just showcasing a work of art that he’s been waiting a decade to own. Nate of Sunset Hill Longbows doesn’t advertise and doesn’t make bows for very many people so advertising would be in vane anyway. At no point in this video does Mr. Carter tell anyone to go buy any particular brand of bow. He merely mentions a few bows that he enjoys shooting and hunting with.

    • @gregingalls3873
      @gregingalls3873 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nate does not need advertisers. There are many people out there that want one and will never own one.
