Hex Head ...The Perfect Stumping Point?
I use the XOP ultra lite safety harness and two ropes one as a lineman belt w/ropeman and the second as a tether for hunting (stand LWC 1.0) this allows me to stay 100% tied at all times, I am never disconnected. I tried the saddle also and I was not a fan.
@@brucerogers8823 I'm gonna do about the same I think. Thanks!
Yup I agree. If your not having fun shooting its not the way for you. We cant all be robots going thru all these steps in your head , standing there checking this doing that its nothing but stress and I think its just plain ol unnatural to shoot a trad bow like that. I read and see so many people all upset and discouraged that they quit the bow altogether trying to conform to a way of shooting they just cant do.
I'm 44 lil chunky you will never see me in a saddle. Or a tree. My dad broke his back falling out of one and now he can't hunt. Ground is fine by me.
Boy did I have a wild one over the past weekend! Slipping into the woods about two hours before daylight to get into my deer setup. I heard hogs so i started easing in that direction. As i got to where i suspected they would be I started hearing loud growling and purring! The sounds started to circle me from both sides. I said to myself this isnt hogs! I immediately started thinking i have made a grave mistake here, immediately thinking a cougar with this years cubs! (Because Ive seen the tracks)... Headlamp shining all of a sudden i look to my right and see 4 big ol coons walking past look to the left another 4 when all of a sudden a big sow walked out in the middle! Headlamp on a shot her! As i walked up to check for blood i saw one of the wildest things. The pigs was rooting and turning up crawfish and the coons was following them around catching a free meal! With the combination of the fear from the crazy sounds the racoons was making and the excitement of taking the sow in the dark it was one wild experience ill never forget! But i wont lie in that moment hearing growling i thought i was a goner! 😂😅
It’s always fun watching your videos of your scouts and hunts in the swamp!
I use a cruzr but I've never heard mine make any noise but I hate that chance blown because they are few and far between
Hi Robert, Just throwing my 2 cents in as well, but I tried the saddle with my traditional equipment and it wasn’t great for me. I use a rock climbing harness with my XOP Cold World. I can use the rock climbing harness as a saddle if needed, but I found that my stand and stick setup is just as light. Hope this helps!
@@AlleghenyRidgeTraditional that's the kind of setup I'm going ooo. Wife ordered me a Rubicon stand for Christmas.
@ Awesome, best of luck and happy holidays! See you on the trail!
Keep up the great work ol man lm 6o and still trying 2 shoot my 1 buck in az with my recurve u have tot me soom appreriat it. Az
Amen brother, it’s all about Jesus and the salvation that “He” has given us🙏🏻
Thanks for all your common sense videos ! Keep on Keeping on Robert!
Only way I saddle hunt is a preset high tree setup otherwise I get busted moving too much. Low hangons are much more practical for bowhunters. Just my 2cents.
@@Im.hurtnLinda I think you are correct.
Always enjoy a good walk with you, Robert. Thanks!
I practice a little shooting bare fingers so if I drop my tab I leave it there It happens sometimes
Thanks Brother Robert for sharing your hunting wisdom with us! Also, prayers headed your way!
I am been using the Tacti Saddle safety harness that Jason helped design. You would like it. I wear it and use my old trusty Lonewolf lock on. I feel extremely safe. I am never unhooked from the tree.
Looks like an excellent day in the swamp!
Thanks for sharing praying for you brother.

Hey Robert, just found your channel, awesome stuff, right up my trail. Thanks a bunch......
Back in the swamp doing what you do. Great to see you out.
Great video RC!!
Glad to see you in the woods. I missed one this past weekend. I still had fun. I've hunted off the ground most of this year. I'm like you. I enjoy being in the tree. You always have great videos.
Mr. Robert where can I get a bow like swamp music? That's even my color
@@kmilesSC Nate Steen builds them. He has a full time job and builds these in low numbers as a hobby. Hard to get one. Donnie Wilkerson of Creek Walker Trading Company will build you one in good time. Look up Creek Walker Trading Company and ask him about his " Gator" Longbow. He will build you a green one. Fine bows!
@@robertcarte95 Thank you Mr Robert
Good to see you back it the woods, thanks for sharing JIK
Came through your part of the country last week, looked for pig but didn't see any from the airplane window. 😂 Back to good ole Indiana with it,s snow an nasty weather. It is part of God,s creation so am happy an blessed to enjoy it. Hope you an your family are well after the past storms. Still see a lot of destruction in Florida and other parts of the south. Grateful that God kept his protection around a lot of people as he did you an yours. Prayer for those who lost all. Glad you're out enjoying God,s beautiful country. Keep looking up an God first in your life.
Love seeing you back in the swamp brother. God bless you and your girls and thanks for taking us along with you.
Thanks RC.
And I do like that green glass on that bow
Look at all that green vegetation!! Here in Indiana, it's all brown and dead....and cold
@@MollyDogg1234 23 here last night.
Amen brother,we’re not promised tomorrow but if you have the Lord in your heart, tomorrow will take care of itself 🙏🏻
Good luck to you Robert.
Great vid buddy
Get em RC..
Glad your back out hunting and not in a tree, just because one of your buddies sent you something to get in a tree, after you said the tree climbing days are over… You do you, but I removed people out of my life who takes advantage of my integrity, just because they want to see if they can get you to do something that you said you were done with… Not trying to be a 🫏 but I’ve been in this situation…
People make saddle hunting looks easy but it’s not, I will say though it just takes time to get get it dialed in and learn, also it’s not for everyone, I love it even though it’s difficult for me, you’ll get it figured out Robert, keep on keeping on 🏹🦌🐗 God Bless
I’ve been rocking a saddle and the Vanish XOP - Love it… Feel super safe and comfortable. It’s my first year hunting out of a tree. Hope you try the stand/saddle combo
I use a rock climbing harness for my safety line when stand hunting. The same model as Jason, but I didn’t add the lineman’s rope straps like he did. I like that a lot better than the old over the shoulder style. When I’m in the saddle, I use the tether all the way up and down the tree instead of the lineman’s rope. Also, I found the saddle if more comfortable with the tether up higher closer to mouth level. The angles may help with squeaks, or that could just be a material thing. Either way, keep the videos coming!
Amen
Saddles belong on horses. Not in trees. Not for me.
That’s tough Mr. Robert. I’ve hunted out of saddles before many knew about saddles. Love them with a compound or a rifle. Now that I’m shooting a recurve and long bow, my saddle stays put up. Just can’t get comfortable shooting out of it. Loc-on from now on. Or off the ground if the opportunity presents itself.
It was great to be along for your hunt! I just got a saddle. I've climbed a couple times to about 10 ft. Ill keep practicing and get higher but not sure if I will ever be comfortable as I seem to have trouble staying still. Love seeing your longbow. I've built a few and would like to hunt them. Just found out my compound has a cracked limb so looking to get a new one but planning to practice with my long bow. I'm looking forward to seeing what you figure out.
Move your tether up to nose height and definitely get a strap on pad or knee pads. Saddle definitely takes some practice but once you get it it's the safest way to tree hunt in my opinion simply because you're always tied to the tree. I have had my carabiner squeak on my tether so I keep a small bottle of corn oil to drip on it now and then. Don't give up bro and thank you Heavenly father for all you do and for allowing us to enjoy your amazing creation!
Can i ask what saddle you are in.?
@@StealthTRD teahrn
I’m 64yrs old 270lbs and I like a saddle a lot. I’ve hunted out of one for years. Keep adjusting your set up you’ll probably get it right for you. I’m guessing everybody’s set up is a bit different. 3-10yd shots very possible and not sure what squeaked? Sure gotta find that squeak and Stealth Strip it.
Your tether was too low.try watching some videos it can teach you a lot
Man i have done it all. Over the years I’ve been hunting I have seen and killed more deer out of a lock on stand being in front of the tree…. I use a one stick and a saddle now days, on public land going way back it’s nice but like you said I’m more comfortable in my lone wolf lock on and it just seems like I see more deer, and I think I’m way more still. The saddle is def lighter, but as far as comfort it’ll never beat a stand! And after watching your videos and getting a Waldrop pac seat, dunno much that can beat the comfort of it as well
Hey Mr Carter. Could you tell me what camera you’re using?
GoPro 11
I'm with you, Robert. I use a saddle for specific situations. 1. When I can't use a treestand 2. when I'm trying to cover A LOT of ground 3. When I am gun hunting. HOWEVER, I prefer my Treestand with a rock climbing harness. I believe it is a lot more efficient and effective for bowhunting. I move too much in my saddle. I do enjoy gun hunting out of my saddle, though, and as mentioned, I will use it sometimes for bowhunting when the situation calls for it.
