It would be helpful to let them know that in France, French toast is pain perdu or “lost bread”, because it’s made with stale bread resurrected by dipping it in egg and milk and frying.
In most of the world, actually. But then, USA has to do things their own way. Even being one of three non metric countries. The otherv two are Liberia and Myanmar....
In France, most bread is daily bread, that is, it has no preservatives and is intended to be eaten the same day it is bought. Personally when I’m there, I’m looking to eat it within minutes of buying it and I want to buy it as close to the time it’s cool enough to serve to customers because the texture changes very quickly. You can refresh it a bit by throwing it in the oven, but by the second day you’re going to have to do *something* to it to have a delicious experience, whether that’s lightly toasting, making croutons, throwing it into onion soup, coating it in batter as a prelude to pan frying (pan perdu), or in the New World, soaking and baking with sugar etc (bread pudding).
I think this group of amazing people would make a smashing travel/foodie/reality/adventure show on TV. 🔥 "Tribal People Try The World" where they travel the world, try all kinds of national foods, what people in other countries do for fun and culture, and all the adventures along the way.
First, let me say ismail’s ٹوپی was beautiful purple!!! He looked like a king!!! Secondly, pancakes are perfect food! Children do gobble them in the morning and so their mood improves and they don’t become cranky! Adults can have them also with peanut butter and they are just an easy food to enjoy!
"We won't be able to eat it every day" AGREED! Many years ago we DID! Now days most people prefer a lighter breakfast. I enjoy the old fashioned breakfast occasionally as a treat but it has to be on a day I can go back to bed for a nap to sleep off the huge carb bomb.
This sort of breakfast was intended for folks immediately going out to do manual labor like farmers, for instance. Going to burn off those carbs, then come in for the main meal (noonday “dinner”) then go out and do it again. Evening meal is thus very light. Since most people now live in cities doing less vigorous exercise to earn a wage, the diet is different. The main meal switches to evening when everyone is together (evening “dinner”) and lunch is smaller, making it more affordable to buy, and everything needs to be lower in fat & carbs since it won’t be burned off as a matter of course.
Chicken and waffles often comes with a white gravy so it’s all savory instead of sweet and savory. Most places I go to give you the option. I get both.
After watching this I want to start a petition to change IHOP to I Hope For Pancakes or Kareeshi Blast Pancake House. I love your videos and I love all of you. God Bless. ✌️😎

Yes, Ismail, I’d love for my husband to give me some Jo Malone perfume and a sapphire & diamond necklace as a gift for making him chicken & waffles 😍😍😍
The real key to perfect pancakes, waffles and French toast is to put a good amount of fresh dairy butter on each layer when they're still good and hot right out of the pan or waffle iron. Then you add the maple syrup or other fruit toppings (which I am not a big fan of, except on French toast stuffed with sweetened cream cheese.) I prefer a fresh blueberry topping, but strawberry isn't bad, as a second choice. But, I like my waffles and pancakes with just butter and pure maple syrup. I'm not 100% sure, but I think iHOP uses the "maple flavored" syrup which in my family is a big no-no. It's basically just sweet corn syrup with artificial maple flavoring added to it and simply doesn't compare with the real maple syrup. My husband was born and raised in the Adirondack region of New York State, which is nothing at all like "NY City" that most people think of when they hear the name "New York". There are mountains, lakes, streams and acres of forests. Farming and agriculture are prevalent here. This part of the state is considered to be part of the New England area of the country, that includes states like Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. I moved here after we were married, but I grew up in the Southern part of the country and I've been eating chicken and waffles most of my life. I suppose if you're not used to mixing savory foods with sweet ones, it can seem pretty strange. It definitely seemed like the more they tried, the better it tasted to them so who knows, maybe they'll start getting creative with their home cooking. 😉 I remember thinking it was a bit strange when I first saw participants on this and some of the other tribal reaction channels dunking savory sandwiches or breads in sweet milk tea, so it must be that we're all accustomed to what we've grown up eating and changes to those things take a bit of time getting used to! 😊 Sending love and blessings to everyone in the Reactistan family! 💛🕊🙏🏻 Also the restaurant name is pronounced i- hahp as in the word "top" although "I hope" does sound lovely. Its an acronym for the full name "International House Of Pancakes" 🤗
Ghee to me has no butter taste at all but you can fry things in it and the oil will not burn like butter at all and has a high temperature when cooking with it. Also, you can keep it in the frig for a year so that's good but I would not put it on pancakes. You can get it at Spouts or health food stores here in the states. I make some Indian foods with it but will never use it as butter for flavor.
I love this, I think it humanizes people who unfortunately Americans immediately relate to conflict in the middle east, it shows they are very much like us, they love to laugh and joke, appreciate things from other cultures, I think it helps bring a connection with people from those cultures.
You could have also showed them photographs of some of these special pancakes and waffles at IHOP. Some of the seasonal ones that they do, because they look so pretty
@markplott4820 that was always my niece's favorite! I think she may have tired of them when she worked there in college; they gave her the night shift, including after bar. Since she was in a college town, that meant that students would reach over to the table next to them and take the tip money that had been left for her. She wasn't allowed to remove the tip money until the customers left the store, and drunken students would take advantage of it
In our house when the bread is getting a little dried out we put it in milk and egg with a little cinnamon then fry it in butter for our french toast. The butter adds a little creamy/salty taste that makes the taste shine.
I think that first pancake was meant to resemble a New York cheesecake, which often has a strawberry or other fruit topping. The pancakes looked different from IHOP's regular buttermilk pancakes, so maybe there was cream cheese in the batter. Chicken and waffles can be eaten any time of day or night. The origin of this dish was supposedly from the early part of 20th century: the jazz clubs closed down late at night, and the musicians and patrons were looking for something to eat, but some wanted late dinner, others wanted early breakfast, and so this now classic combo was born.
@suspirodelmoro1430 Yes, obviously Harlem, but I didn't know exactly where. However, since leaving that post initially, I've seen there are several origin stories for chicken and waffles: some say the Pennsylvania Dutch invented it, some say it had origins in the South, and some say the combo existed in some form (albeit less structured) as early as the 1600s. I personally like the jazz connection, for the modern interpretation of chicken and waffles as we know it today.
Very good video! I enjoyed it! The ladies seem to have great difficulty keeping their head covering on. Do they have access to hair clips or bobby pins to help attach it to their hair so that it won't slide off?
Yes but most Pakistani women just leave it like that. I know it's wierd but it's kind of like an unspoken tradition, you'll see Pakistani women just keep pulling it over their heads and then it keeps falling. And this piece of clothing is called a dupatta, it's a cultural element. Most Pakistani women cover their heads like this and don't wear the hijab ( full head covering like I wear).
So, when I first saw chicken and waffles, as in the fried chicken and syrup waffles, I was very confused. I am from America, but in my area, chicken and waffles specifically refers to the Amish version of chicken and waffles; Which is cooked shredded chicken and it's juices made into a gravy, so it's salty, and then poured over a sweet Belgium-stylel thick waffle. Very different tasting, and not nearly as sweet.
Manzoor: I think the kids will snatch every bite from the adults. Ismail: Not in my watch Manzoor bhai, they have no chance. They only can lick the top.
Mehboob is 100% correct, Butter or Pure Ghee is MAGICAL on pancakes. As an American I can say, We usually eat ALL of these items with BUTTER also, aswell as Maple Syrup :D Sometimes a small sprinkle of good sea salt is amazing also

I wonder if they would like stuffed French toast (cream cheese blended with fruit in between slices of French toast)

Having French Toast and eggs for dinner tonight. Got so into the video, I spilled marmalade on my pillow because I wasn't paying attention.
I think Manzoor is on to something with his idea for a new pancake: Kareeshi Blast. Just add butter.
Sunday was French Toast day for me growing up. Mom got/took the day off so Dad made French Toast for brunch and we had pizza for dinner. Good times!!
The 'is this rat poison' nearly killed me with laughter 🤣
Please give everyone their own plate of food.
they gave them plates to share , because they tried Multiple Dishes.
Why? They don't seem to mind, and it wasted less food. Plus less dishes to wash.
