Never played the game, in fact, I don't even own it... ...but this song is absolutely astounding. They should have sent a poet, because I haven't the words to do the beauty of this masterpiece justice.
I have played since Beta and this song still sends shivers down my spine. This song could easily stand alone as a very good piece. That it was done for an MMORPG is kind of mind blowing.
i just cant get over how they made guild wars 2 i grew up with 1 and loved it when i logged on a year ago on my ritualist(dont know the class in english ^^) and went to shing jae i was shocked i remember the place crowded with players some dancinc and just having fun some traiding some recruiting new guild members and some new players trying to get along with the game and now its a dead place i cant say if its cause of gw2 or of the age of the game and i dont know why i cant love the game i think its because i just loved and still love gw1 but above all both games have such awesome soundtracks . sorry for the long text with i suspect many wrong words or sentences ^^ but as a gw fan allways remember you never fight alone.
I have played the game since beta and this song made it one hundred times better. The singer has an amazing voice and this will never grow old for me. Good job! ;-)
En todos mis años de gamer, en todos mis años de jugador de MMOs, jamas he visto un juego tan IMPRESIONANTEMENTE BELLO como este. Mi humilde opinion. In all my years of gamer, in all my years of MMO player, I've never seen a game so breathtakingly beautiful as this. My humble opinion.
They will reply it's not a game, it's a music track...and that's true. We cannot demonstrate video games are art by listening their music. Because we'll only prove music is art.
You say nightmares come from shadows grow the first time, roam the 2nd time. It's definitely grow the first time, so probably grow the 2nd Distant sound Scoring I'm pretty sure 1:23 'The' most far off I think should be In or On, makes more sense and the word is ambiguous Much better job though thanks. Unlike most people, who got this song because they got the game, I'm planning to get the game (in part) because Soule made the music :)
Hmm, it's actually the main song of the game! It's really singed, with the voice and all, when you finish the story-mode! And on the other hand, the gameplay, I wouldn't consider it part of the ''art'' of video games. It's part of the ''fun'' of games, which is the original point behind any games, really. The visual, the music and the storyline are what make video games art, and the video above presents 2 out of 3 of those.
This is one of my favorite music track from video games. I find it amazing, beautiful and powerful. But I tried the game and I didn't like it. Video games and their OSTs are two different things. You can prove video games are art by showing what makes the game: the gameplay, the level design, the poetry behind these...(FEZ for example). We could barely consider ambiant music as a part of the game; but THIS track, absolutely nothing directly related to video games making.
What are you talking about? It doesn't sound like calling at all. Sounds like Scoring or Darting to me and i had my headphones on. Along with on high. I dunno i might be wrong who knows what it is.
nisi bonum I don't think you can really compare it to either. I'd say it's closer to World of Warcraft, since they are both MMOs, but Guild Wars 2 is quite unique in how it is played (one exemple is that the Tank-Healer-DPS trinity doesn't exist here. Instead, every classes has access to its own healing skills and are responsible for their own survival. Another exemple is the combos. For exemple, if an Elementalist sets up a ring of fire and a Ranger shoots through said ring of fire to hit an enemy, the arrow will deal extra burn damage!) Anyway, I do suggest you look up the game yourself! I think only the latest expansion requires you to pay for it, and I'm at least pretty sure the base game is free! And there's no monthly fee either: ArenaNet makes most of its money through the Gem Store. And don't worry too much about that store either: 1- there's nothing game-changing in there, there's a few bonus stuff, like gathering tools that don't break, or extra room in your bank, but again, nothing game-breaking, and 2- you can buy all the stuff in the Gem Store with in-game gold, too (although they'll cost a lot in in-game gold). So, yeah, you should at least check it out! If you don't like it it won't have cost you a thing!
I'm between calling and SCORING now, but definitely not "darting"... English is not my native language but the word I hear must be "calling" or "scoring" =)
I must say I understand your point of view, but I don't share it. The level design, the gameplay, the aesthetic point of view of the graphics and also the ambiant music are what make video games art, according to me. But art is already a vague concept...
The video is strangely unfitting - when the song is about awakening, we see the dragon awakening. But it is actually unfitting - the song is not about the dragon awakening, it is about humans, who fear the dragon, awakening. This bothers me a lot.
sorry, but your lyric is still incorrect it should be "Distant sounds of melodies, CALLING through the night to your heart" not "Darting" in your lyric
As nice as it is this is the SONG OF THE SYLVARI not the humans, Less human content and more sylvari would have been far more appropriate. That being said anyone seeing this who hasn't played the game should want to after viewing this.
actually this is not the song of the sylvari, though it is the one USED near the little bells in the tree. no race has their own theme from what the devs said.
Ilovecats1989 it was awesomely made but i could find atleast one wrong thing in it, it says in THE solitude of the night, but its in A solitude of the night. atleast thats what i hear.
Never played the game, in fact, I don't even own it...
...but this song is absolutely astounding.
They should have sent a poet, because I haven't the words to do the beauty of this masterpiece justice.
"Darkness sings a forlorn song yet our hope can still rise up" Basically every fantasy story in one sentence. So beautiful.
I have played since Beta and this song still sends shivers down my spine. This song could easily stand alone as a very good piece. That it was done for an MMORPG is kind of mind blowing.
Video Game Music nowadays most of the time really doesn't need to hide from each other genre anymore :)
Arisztid I finally finished the main story on a character and it blew my mind! :D
This is supposed to be The Pale Tree singing to her Sylvari children during Heart Of Thorns.
It is 260 days since I've bought the game and since I've heard this song for the first time. It still manages to make me cry, I ADORE this song.
You should finish the main story campaign and then NOT leave Fort Trinity too early at the celebration ;)
THAT's a pure magical moment then!
Justforvisit
This... is eppic
I have a mix of emotions.. I feel nostalgic, new, hopeful, calm, excited, happy, sad, couraged, brave, insecure, and I could go on forever..
I love this game
s041424 me too :D
OMG, what a phenomenal song, sounds like it's from heaven
This soundtrack is memorizing....way beyond awesome!!!! What an angelic voice!
The chills are real

ArenaNet has developed such a great, great and with great attention to detail game ... I love Guild Wars 2! Is now one of my favorite games!
Much better than "Let it go" from "Frozen": A lot more epic and powerful! My No.1 Fantasy Hit!
Best MMO ever.
Omg it almost made me cry... don't know why! But I love it!! well done!! ^-^
Thank you!

I have never played this game but this song makes we want to play it.
A masterpice. A hymn of hope and epicness. The kind of song that makes you want to play the game.
I watch this whenever I need to calm down.
Every time I have listened to this song all the way through, 3:43 has given me goose bumps.
Great job! Thanks for re-uploading the correct version! :)
Pretty much the most awesome video I have ever seen. Kudos to all involved.
Those visuals 😍 Nice job men
Thank you :)
Awesome MMO awesome music !
It definitely says CALLING. I'm with you.
Beautifully made!
This song is beautiful and inspiring. I love the video and I'd watch it with or without lyrics
The Culling of the Hives is upon us.
*supportive voice* Me tooo!!!
Great music for the best MMO atm.
Still the best GW2 Soundtrack 😍
They will reply it's not a game, it's a music track...and that's true. We cannot demonstrate video games are art by listening their music. Because we'll only prove music is art.
This, Is, Perfection
Beautiful video! :D
Wow! TH-cam has it's first Masterpiece Video 2013! :)
thanks for that answer
for some resin this song makes me want to cry.....
Anyone else notice that the illustrated moving stills are the loading screens? its a very nice detail.
0:00 keep on replaying!
Oh really? For me this song always plays when I finish Guild Wars 2 Main Story Quest :)
awesome :')
good
We have to send this video to all those who still claims that video games are not art! :p
Who is listening to this right now? ❤️
what's that font you used called and where can i find it ? good jobs on the video!
I think of the white walkers and westeros with this.
You say nightmares come from shadows grow the first time, roam the 2nd time. It's definitely grow the first time, so probably grow the 2nd
Distant sound Scoring I'm pretty sure
1:23 'The' most far off I think should be In or On, makes more sense and the word is ambiguous
Much better job though thanks.

Come, brothers! For Tyria!
Hmm, it's actually the main song of the game! It's really singed, with the voice and all, when you finish the story-mode!

What, that I brought in music and visual design as elements of proof of its artistic value?
Same logic that would say that movies aren't art because they have the same things in it than theater.
small is fine don't go overboard as I'm in bed most of time .. nothing too lavish save it for fun outside xxxx
This is one of my favorite music track from video games. I find it amazing, beautiful and powerful. But I tried the game and I didn't like it. Video games and their OSTs are two different things. 1:23 is all one sentence, so it's correct
What are you talking about? It doesn't sound like calling at all. Sounds like Scoring or Darting to me and i had my headphones on. Along with on high. I dunno i might be wrong who knows what it is.
It definitely says "calling"
guys where is the vídeo from? captain HALP!
Which Video? This Video and Lyrics was cut by myself. The Scenes are from the Guild Wars 2 Clips.
just dat ive played gw2 but ive never seen those images moving like that before
Clement Yu is correct actually, it definitely sounds more calling than darting, just saying.
Actually I hear too, in ?t=1m20s "Sunsets have forsaken all the MOST FAR OF THE HORIZONS" I need to discuss this song with few natives... anyone?
is this like the same game type as wow or is it more like dragon inquisition
nisi bonum I don't think you can really compare it to either. ChevaliersEmeraude thankyou. And not just for the advice but for taking the time to give such a good response to my question. Good on you man!
I'm between calling and SCORING now, but definitely not "darting"... English is not my native language but the word I hear must be "calling" or "scoring" =)
for once in my life....first
I must say I understand your point of view, but I don't share it. The level design, the gameplay, the aesthetic point of view of the graphics and also the ambiant music are what make video games art, according to me. But art is already a vague concept...
Everyone please shut up about the lyrics. The only thing that matters is that you're enjoying this beautiful song.
This is a video? Then what were those!?
The video is strangely unfitting - when the song is about awakening, we see the dragon awakening. But it is actually unfitting - the song is not about the dragon awakening, it is about humans, who fear the dragon, awakening. This bothers me a lot.
I think it is about the sylvari and not the humans, but that still isn't fitting to the cutscene...
Yeah sorry, made this years ago and now I think I could have done this better :( :D
sorry, but your lyric is still incorrect
it should be
"Distant sounds of melodies,
CALLING through the night to your heart"
not "Darting" in your lyric
No, theater and cinema aren't the same thing. They are at least as different as video games are different from the cinema.
W...ow...
Sorry, but those are the official lyrics I found :-)
As nice as it is this is the SONG OF THE SYLVARI not the humans, Less human content and more sylvari would have been far more appropriate.
That being said anyone seeing this who hasn't played the game should want to after viewing this.
actually this is not the song of the sylvari, though it is the one USED near the little bells in the tree. no race has their own theme from what the devs said.
Sorry, but those are the official lyrics I found :-) So shut up pls!
Yet cinema is considered art but video games aren't. My point!
And I agree with you that video games should be considered art. I only disagreed with your method.
Dislike for wrong lyrics :(
Dislike for your comment :(
i didn't see anything wrong with the lyrics, actually i'm going to give this video a thumbs up since it was decently made.
Ilovecats1989 it was awesomely made but i could find atleast one wrong thing in it, it says in THE solitude of the night, but its in A solitude of the night. atleast thats what i hear.
Ilovecats1989 also, darting through the night when its calling through the night,
Henrik Larsson It's likely the. 'A solitude of the night.' isn't great syntax.
I'm in love with this...
I'm just going to look at the words
calling just makes the most sense with the lyrics
Congratulations. *offers tea*
