    Not allowing exceptions to save logins kills the usability what would otherwise be the ideal browser for normal people. It makes Mullvad into a less private Tor Browser instead of a nicely de-bloated, preconfigured Firefox. I don't need a disposable browser tier in between Firefox and Tor. I just want the install/config experience of FF+Arkenfox to be less crap.

    I don't see a reason why anyone would need a screenshot tool inside their browser! This does not make any sense to me, because you're supposed to have the screenshot program in your operating system NOT your browser. Another thing that bothers me about certain browsers is they have two listings for the exact same thing in the browser which is kind of redundant to me. If they would remove this unnecessary junk it might make the browser go faster!

    • @Trafotin
      @Trafotin  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Browser screenshot tools automatically capture page elements (think element selectors in adblockers). Firefox goes an extra step and has a full page capture as well. I use it all the time for videos.

    Edit: checking the release schedule on LibreWolf and Mulvad browser, the latest LibreWolf release (based on standard Firefox) lagged behind 1 day. The latest Mullvad release (based on Firefox-ESR) lagged behind 2 days. I haven't done an in depth analysis of the two, but it appears that LibreWolf gets updates faster than Mulvad browser.
    Also, in my original comment I mentioned Mulvad browser being based on Tor, that was incorrect, it's based on FireFox Extended Release Edition.
    Original Comment:
    I remember a while back comparing commits on Librewolf and seeing patches delayed 12-48 hrs behind Firefox (can't speak to any other forks, and I heard there was a period LibreWolf lagged behind much more but I don't think it's the case currently). As a fellow Graphene user that's about the time AOSP updates get to me (many other custom ROMs can take weeks or months, Graphene is steller in that regard but any delay isn't perfect).
    Are you aware of how quick Mulvad actually implements upstream patches? Being downstream of Tor, which is downstream of Firefox, sounds like there might be a bit of a delay but I'm not sure what it would be.
    Also, with Librewolf being updated at a similar speed (or faster in many cases) to custom Android ROMs where you draw the line and what's your thought process behind it?
    I don't mean any of this as a gotcha, there's plenty of valid conclusions to draw and no official right answer, just curious to hear thoughts on it.

    • @Trafotin
      @Trafotin  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Librewolf is pointless because it fails to have a real niche. If you know how to configure Firefox by hand or with a user.js file, it's pointless. Whereas the Mullvad Browser is based on Firefox ESR, which has a different release schedule from normal Firefox. The Tor Browser uses the same release schedule. Also Librewolf is objectively worse for Windows and Mac users who can't auto-update it, which is just a pain.

      Tor is the privacy option. It always has been and always will be. As a result it is not particularly user friendly and many websites break with it (because most websites want to grab all your data which Tor won't let them do). Anything else is compromise for the sake of usability, but for many applications it's a compromise that works. You don't need to be digitally hunkered down like you're trying to sell state secrets at all times.

    Mullvad actually can access the Dark Web. The About Config's Network DNS BlockDotOnion is exposed to the user in the Mullvad browser just like it is on Firefox, though of course just like Firefox it still doesn't know how to route things through the onion network like the Tor browser does
