    Crazy!! We purchased a new 2024 Jeep and someone lost the locking lug nut between the dealers. I purchased a wheel locking kit and they do not work. I watched several vids on the tube and none helped until I watched yours. Going to try this today... Hope this helps. Thanks for posting!! Later.... Unreal!! After several days of frustration watching many videos, I found yours and gave it a try.. BINGO!! The center ring came right off.. While standing in the rain, I used a small chisel and hammer and Now for a 7/8 12 point socket and it's Beer time... Thank YOU PB 4U 11/18 11 12 43 58 65 3 Good Luck

    This has to be the easiest way to remove the MOPAR lock nut. Good stuff Jimmy.

    Wow thanks. I used a heavy flat blade screw driver instead of a punch and used your method. Took less than 15 minutes to have all 4 off. Before putting the socket on, I used the hammer to break off some of the edge of the nut and found the socket went on even easier. Thanks!

    Thank you. You are a gentleman and a scholar. I’ve learned you can get a replacement key for your set from the company that makes those locks and keys for $19, but it takes several weeks and you must know the serial number. In my case I need the wheel off today , so I’m going to ruin one with your method. Yet order a key for the other 3 locks.

    Worked great! Purchased a brand new 2022 Jeep Wagoneer last May. Went to have some snow tires put on about 6 weeks ago to only find out that the key was missing from the original package. From what I understand, the dealers put these on and not from the mfg. So they forgot to put it back!!! They said they would order me one but damn it never arrived and they now won't return my calls!! USELESS POS!! Got them off in 30 mins!! Thank you, sir!!!!!!!

    Huge thank you. Was trying to figure out how to crack this nut and your method worked great! I started with a punch, switched to a chisel in the middle, and then went back to the punch as I got close to the wheel as to not gouge it. Worked like a charm, only scratched one wheel with the flake of alloy that peeled off the lock.

    I'll be punching mine tomorrow morning! Destroying them is the only way I'll ever find the key. It'll appear immediately after I finish the job.

    Just did this but used an extractor kit to bite into the lug after tearin that spinning piece off. Saved me the ton fountain tire was gonna charge me to do it. 30 minutes in the driveway and they’re replaced with shiny new normal ones. Need a new center punch tho. Thank you!!!

    Brilliant Jimmy. I've got the same problem with my 2012 Ram 1500. the repair shop i go to lost the original key and tried a removal tool that messed up the outside of the lock nut and they have no clue as how to fix it. So, i'll try this myself, thanks a million.

    I have this issue on my brand new Jeep Gladiator. Dealer doesn’t have the key (said they got it from a different dealer who installed the locks) and said they can’t help me. I’m going to try this as soon as I get a chance! Thanks!

    Your method worked great! I had 3 to take off, went and got 3 sockets for 5 bucks each and used all 3, taking them off the locks will be nasty. I have a 2017 with the stock 17 inch rims, there was just enough room to cut the collars off with a dremel and small #420 discs. Thanks again!

    • @georgiabigfoot
      @georgiabigfoot 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I also have a 17, used the Dremel to cut off the collars but my husky 7/8” 12 pt regular length socket will not fit. What brand socket did you use ? The husky seems too rigid.

      I think they were deep, I won’t be home until tomorrow so can’t check if the one socket that survived is still around. It did take some good hammering to get them on

      @@BrianJ-oz5tj ok thanks for this info. I’ll just try to slug mine harder then. I actually have a deep harbor freight 7/8” but it’s s 6 point and the op said he used a 12 point. I also see that the socket the op used is from grainger and he used a 10 lb maul likely

    Sharing just in case this helps anyone else. 2016 Jeep Cherokee. I didnt lose my key but I slipped when removing the locking nut and damaged the key. Found inspiration from this video and used a center punch to reshape my key. Then lined it up perfectly and with one clean hit of a hammer was able to get it seated well enough to break it loose

    • @SuzukiKid400

      He said he drove the truck to push the chisel into the security ring and crack it off. Then 3-4 hits of the 7/8” socket onto the remaining nut got it off.
