If you are looking for other consoles and "Retrotink5x PRO Recommended Settings & Cables" guide, here it is:

Small mistake: "Super Famicon" not "Famicon" 😇
Note: I don't own non-1Chip SNES console. The 1Chip and non-Chip console comparison is for showcasing the problem so the viewer understand what I mean. Its actually not footage from non-1Chip console but it comes close. Here is how non 1chip vs 1chip output looks like: th-cam.com/channels/7cKyiyU7IK9cLZXxSA0sPg.htmlcommunity?lb=UgkxTad1R74-wGGd7MsHDGvBtpCk76UmoruN

This series has been very helpful, I really appreciate it.
Also have you thought about doing a video on Wii/Gamecube settings or even one on Switch settings?

Another amazingly detailed upload. Thank you for the tips you've shared with the RetroTink community. I for one am greatly appreciative for all of the effort you put into these uploads. Wish you continued growth mate!

Thanks for all your amazingly informative vids! Would you consider making a Retrotink5x PRO Wii Tutorial w/ Optimal Settings/Timings like you did a year or so ago for the OSSC? Your Optimal Settings videos are so helpful!

I've got an RGB modded SNES Jr, retrotink 5x pro and the 5ft 75 ohm multicore coax SCART cable from RetroAccess. I currently can't get any video signal from either SCART video input selection on the RetroTink.
I've attempted to get the setup running on 2 different TV's. Using an old S video monster cable, everything works fine but when I try to use the SCART cable, I only get audio. On the SCART RGB input, I get the blue screen and audio and if I select SCART-CV input, I get sound but with a black screen.
The RetroTink is at the latest firmware and I'm kind of stumped at this point as to what could be wrong. Right now, the system is connected to an LG OLED if that makes any difference.

the scanline feature is so cool. iI really wanna see more of the S Video and PVM setting in the style of CRT Pixels on twitter, since I think at this point most of us will never get an actual PVM.

Also, ADC phase at the default 180 looks bad on my snes. At 0 the image looks clean as a whistle...i cannot find any reference to the setting ahywhere mind?

I just connected my Super Famicom JR(did borti RGB mod and replaced electrolytic caps+voltage regulator) to my retrotink5x and i get quite a bit of video noise with LPF disabled...is this normal on RGB modded 1chips with the retrotink? Also, when i use "4:3 generic" sampling i also get vetical lines, these disappear if i use "SNES 256" sampling mode. If i use SNES 256 sampling and medium LPF then the image is clean, but i feel like other consoles don't have this noise with LPF off or low. My PS1 for example is clean as a whistle with no LPF.

    Hello one question
For the scanlines filters, which resolution is better? 1080 over or 1440p

Nice to see the SNES get some attention, but I'd appreciate it if you looked more into non-1chip SNES consoles, since 95% of people own those. Regardless of how sharp I make the image, I always end up with colour-bleed to the right; a guide from someone like you would be very helpful.

There is nothing you can do about except modding 2chip consoles. You can't fix it with scalers because its hardware related, Otherwise I would have mention it but I included non1chip optimization in this video....

Great video. Do we know if the RT5X will get another official FW? Im not interested in the 4K options in the experimental FW but I would like optimal timing options for Svideo and default profile loading (which is shown in this vid) both of which the latest official FW lacks. If I update to the experimental - is it possible to roll back to the official FW if theres any problems?

Rolling back is as simple as flashing whichever previous version you want to move back to.

When configuring Horizontal Sampling in Generic 4:3 preset, my ADC Samp./Line only goes up to 1626 to 1881, and not 1950. This is with 1080p Fill. What would the correct number be in my case??

    • @wobblingpixels3921

Scanlines are fine in any mode. Sampling plays no part.

Wasn't the RetroTink5x supposed to be a "plug&play no hassle no config" scaler? Now just look at all those options and "optimal timings" just like the OSSC. Shame.

    • @wobblingpixels3921
      @wobblingpixels3921  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Please watch/read the first seconds of this video. R5x is plug & play. You don't have to confgure anything in 99% cases. Power on and play. Most of these settings are for PROs which is small minority and the configuration is still much easier than with OSSC.
I Honestly sometimes have the impression that some ppl don't even watch the video but just comment. No offence.

      0:30, read the screen
Setting input signal/cable, setting output resolution, and optionally picking a Horizontal Sampling preset if you want a sharper picture than 4:3 generic is still all you have to do to get a great picture. Those three things are the only things I bother with on the 5X Pro 99% of the time and it's fantastic. The other 1% of the time is my TV being a brat and I have to toggle V-sync modes to get a picture that doesn't black out occasionally.
