I like the plowing videos , not boring at all make you anxious to get to planting, glad Sarah is ok with no serious train mishap! They need a bigger loop on that crossing to give you more time before the train is on top of you, especially at that speed!
One day I was sitting at RR crossing with my truck. I was pulling a 48’ flatbed that day and just finished off-loading. The lights and boards were down right in front of me. When the lights went out and the boards lifted, I made my way across. I kinda watched the train leave as I crossed. Suddenly, the bell and lights start flashing again!! The crossing boards came down on my trailer and danced their way down my flatbed! WTH is going on!! I just cleared the track and a train coming the other track zoomed by! Yeah, the ol’ heart was zinging as fast as that train was going! Look both ways on a double track.😳😎 Glad Sarah made it!

Those gates are made of fiberglass and break off pretty easy. If you ever get stuck on the tracks with the gates down on you, just give it the gas and GO. Might scratch you vehicle but it's a lot better than being hit by a train!

I live up here in Michigan by Marquette Michigan and we’re coming into a winter storm for today and tonight and tomorrow Thursday and we’re supposed to get 14 inches of snow. I cannot believe you guys are working land like you are.

Face it, Andy: you are going to need a 4500+ size service truck before long. That kind of thing won't be cheap, but you won't be schlepping tools and parts from pickup to pickup. When you get over 110 gallons of fuel you start stepping in to DOT regulations, and that sucks. Great video, love seeing your family working together 👍 👍!👍😄👍
400gallons of fuel is about 1,781 litres and at roughly £0.80p per litre here in the UK that would cost roughly £1,424.00 or $1,790 approximately. Breakdowns add even more to the costs of farming that the anti farming brigade fail to understand. A close call with train, glad she made across because that would have been quite a disaster. Here in Norway it would cost US$ 2669,27 for the same amount of diesel. Farming is expensive and ppl really should stop complaining! Food doesn´t grow on a shelter in the store 😊

I guess you need an experience like Sarah's to make a lasting impression, but the house and trail rang the memory bell. The natural reaction when those lights flash and bells ring is to slow down and look for the danger that is coming at you, then "OH s***, guess I best get out of here!" Seems like your tractors put on more road miles than field miles sometimes. it must often take more planning to get to the field than it does to plan crop rotations with narrow, low clearances, .
It was cold down here today. Didn't get to 60 here in Bristol today. Dad went to Pa. to look at a planter with a neighbor. I didn't get nothing done besides taking care of everything. After second milking got two loads of dump truck loads of dirt over a rock.
The youtuber Ollyblogs Agricontracting in the UK has a crossing between fields which are relatively common here that you have to call on the phone there give the number crossing the operator then confirms it is safe to cross or not. A couple of years ago I believe he called they said it was safe to cross and he nearly got hit as they thought he was at a different crossing. He came up with a means to confirm it then spent over an hour trying to get the operator to actually follow the procedure.

Summer of 83, Lunchtime. I hop in the farm truck and head to town, I'm driving down a loose gravel road playing with the radio. There's a railroad crossing with no lights or arms 20 feet in front of me, I hear the train horn I look up and the train is right there, I lock up the brakes and realize I'm not able to stop in time so I stomped on the gas, As I was crossing the tracks I looked at the train, the headlight was huge. I braced for impact but that old Dodge saved my life. Don't drive distracted.
What happened to Sarah is a serious danger to tractors. When I was a kid, the neighbors son was killed by a train when crossing tracks with no signals. Just 5 years ago, a friend’s father was killed when his auger got hit by the train and turned over the tractor. Nothing to laugh at or make light of. The consequences are very, very high.
Years ago in my area a farmer who had train tracks across the driveway, no lights, came down the driveway with a tractor and 2 gravity wagons loaded with corn. Didnt notice the train coming until the tractor was on the tracks. Started to back up and the train cut the front half of the tractor off at the cab. There he sat with his 4 year old girl in the cab watching the train go by inches ahead. Fortunately they weren't seriously injured.
Had a friend that was hit by a Norfolk Southern train… messed him up really bad. It was a problem with the crossing system. He sued and got 1/2 million.
It’s the responsibility of a motor vehicles driver to make sure it’s safe to cross rail lines,they don’t stop particularly quickly. Glad she wasn’t hurt.

Yes I told you we were going to get a snow storm up here in Michigan and we got one. We got 26 inches yesterday May 1. It started I guess stop today to May 2 it’ll kind of slow the farmers down around here.

THE LIGHTS DID NOT LIGHT TILL THE CROSS-BARS WERE DOWN, THEN IT WAS ONLY 18 SECONDS FOR THAT TRAIN TO FLY THREW THAT INTERSECTION. IT HAD TO BE GOING AT LEAST 55 OR 60 MPH. VERY DANGEROUS ?
I enjoy tillage videos more than about any other type of field work, especially ripping/disk ripping etc. I like the view looking back and from outside the cab where you can watch the implement work. Not boring to me at all.. Glad Sarah didn't get into a wreck with the train. That would not have ended well for your side of the equation.
Sarah was very lucky not to be hurt or worse, it's good that she's ok. Trains don't stop all that well. Noticed the fallow land near the road at the bottom of the hill, how come that isn't being ploughed and planted ?? 31:13 The length of the goods train's here are like 1.1 miles and go thru the middle of town at 50 miles/hour max.
Wow, that was a pretty short warning with that train. Might just enough for most vehicles, but if it's something more slow moving and/or with a trailer, thats a bit on the edge maybe)
You talked about combining on that steep side hill .I've told people that you haven't gone for a ride till you side sideways down a hill in a combine . Something you don't quickly forget .

If they need a mount, I'll pay for one because I also want them to be safe. Another good video Andy thanks for sharing. That crossing seems kinda sketchy lights and bars came down with a short time b4 the train came through. We farm some ground that has a couple private crossings no lights or bars got to be on your toes and listen because visibility is tough. Those blue barns at the farm you rent out is that on sheets? Looks kinda familiar.

Glad Sarah is safe. My uncle, a police officer at the time, was hit by a train while chasing a perpetrator in the mid 60’s and was almost killed.

@George Been watching a year+. I may have mistaken his for Caz or the Tire company he uses. Most of the time I see him throw tools in a pickup.

That is why it is not allowed in Sweden. If you can't cross like normal people you have to hire a certified rail worker to shut down the rail...

Usually not the more you rip it the more the ground will be able to grow crops
