May your Nephew rip my condolences to you and your family . I'm glad he had his dog with him and the corner kept the dog with him that woman has a heart of gold .
That was an extremely good group of people he had around him. Eddie/Jay was very blessed to have known them. Even the care displayed in the conversation with the 19yr old about viewing his friend and not having that be his last memory and having that still frame stuck in his head for the rest of his life is an example of how much these people value friendship. They care more than anyone I've ever witnessed and some families I've seen. To the 19yr old, they did you a favor. I found out the hard way there are some things you just should not see in this lifetime when I wanted to be there for my Father as he took his last breath in Nov '23 and I'm glad I was there but like some of them said it comes back at the most random moments and a tidal wave of grief comes with the things you can't unsee. I would never do it again and I would never allow anyone to be there when I take my last breath. Still frames like that burn themselves into your brain and you will wish they didn't. I wish I had met just one person in my lifetime so far that resembled anyone in this group of people. RIP Eddie/Jay and Sassie.
Every medical examiner in the US needs to watch this video. That woman had the worst job on this video. She took care of Eddie and Sassy and made a difficult job look easy. She was compassionate and caring. I do not know her name, but she needs the recognition she deserves for the way she handled this recovery. If she handles all the deaths that come her way like she did here, she deserves any and all praise. To AVP, the Sheriffs Dept., the Dive team, the company that pulled the van up and hauled it away, and all in the MEs office, you did good that night. You all did real good.
I was doing ok until the end when the coroner / medical examiner said " we have Sassy out of the van, She's going to go with Eddie and they are going to remain together". That just broke my heart and I made me cry. The respect that she gave by saying Sassy's name rather than "the dog" and the fact that she kept them together, just bless her. I also thought that his parents equal love and concern for Sassy and they wanted her retrieved as well was beautiful. Clearly she was a special member of the family and when they get to lay Eddie to rest his beloved Sassy will also be with him. My deepest love and condolences to Eddies family and all his friends who managed to pin point where he was through their searching, bless. ✝💐
You expressed my broken heart for this young man and his best friend exactly. Rest In Peace Eddie and Sassy. My condolences to his Mother, Father, sisters and his best friends on the scene who just knew where he was. Everyone needs loving friends like these are. Me as well. Im a bawling basket case right now. Eddie and Sassy made a pact..never leave each others side. Now they can Rest in Paradise together. As God had planned.
Eddie had issues with his brain. It just wasn't diagnosed yet, if he had lived he would have passed from brain cancer. He felt horrible for all the things he did. But it wasn't him. I pray that the family sees this and knows that he didn't want to be the way he was, angry, confused and not able to fix the issues at hand. He knew deep down inside that the seizures were a part of something bigger. He had a seizure and that's when the accident happened. He was speeding but when the seizure hit, his foot locked down on the gas petal so he was going over 100 mph at the point of impact with the water. And Sassy wasn't going anywhere without him, that's what best friends do. They both are in heaven together and he is healthy now and still comes back to let you guys know he's still around. No you're not crazy when things move, or electronics act up. It's just your son letting you know he's ok.
Id Say maybe He had a Seizure and His Foot came off the Gas and He just Rolled off the Road and down in. If a Car Hits Water at anything over 25-30 MPH it's pretty Dramatic. That Van has no impact damage at all.
Hands down, the most compassionate, informative, and professional medical examiner ever. Kudos. And thanks for treating his dog with care and love as well.
I lost my son March 22, 2024. I loved how everyone explained the risk of seeing their family and friend after they have gone. Although my son was not found in the water, it is still a very traumatic time. Every ounce of me wanted to see my son. Whomever said that it is not what you want to remember as their last memory of them, was totally correct. No matter the state of circumstances. Remember the good times, the joyful times. I too deal with this everyday. My son will be 35 on Christmas Eve. My heart goes out to Eddie's family and friend. You are not alone.
@@Girlygirlracn Thank you. I just know what these parents are going through with the loss of their son. I does not matter the age, its your child. Doesn't matter how, its your child. It is never the same. You are not the same after.

I'm so sorry about your friend. Clearly he was near and dear to everyone who was involved in bringing him home and I'm glad they were able to find him and bring him home.
That medical examiner has such a compassionate soul. The tow crew did an amazing job keeping the van level bringing it up. Keeping his little dog with him was such a heart warming thing to do. My heart goes out to his family & his wonderful friends. I would hope that someone would search that hard & methodical if something happened to me. Keep doing what you do Jared & Matt, you help heal so many hearts. Without you, a lot of families would never get their answers. ❤
@@africangirllifestyle7686 this entire video is about “the people”. we’re allowed to care about people AND dogs. not every comment has to mention both.
The medical examiner was so very kind. I am so sad for his family, but especially for his friends who were searching for him and staying right there with him at the end. 😢
Whoever the ME is should be in charge of all operations not just in that county but in that entire state. Amazingly professional and exceptionally human. Everyone should strive to be that humanistic because the world would be a better place. 👏🏻 ❤
That ME was so compassionate and eloquently thoughtful towards Eddies friends in explaining the condition of his body. Glad also that she included Sassy. They have tough jobs. RIP to Eddie and Sassy. Condolences to his parents and friends ❤
I'd say her gender is the least important thing after all but out of some reason people feel the need to add "female" to the description, while there's only one ME anyways??
As an epileptic.. 27 currently with grand mal seizures.. who loves riding motorcycles also which is quite ironic... this story gets me to my core. Thank you guys for everything you do. Thank you for finding him.
@ My seizures are regulated by medication. Even though breakthrough Seizures can occur I do feel them coming on or get hints that one may happen. I also have a watch that can detect if I’m about to possibly have one.. it also will contact family and 911 if I do end up having one 🤍 been diagnosed since I was 15 and didn’t drive until 22.. but since then I’ve been able to understand my limits and have been safe. Life is short and Life needs to be lived and you shouldn’t have to be held back by passions and normal life with this disability 🤍
I concur with Jarrod on that… Eddie-Jay left with Sassy on Oct 19… his soul left… sassy’s soul left… all that is left is the vessel for which that soul resided while on this earth 🌏. Remember him full of life. Full of love, joy, happiness… living. Hold the memories. Cherish the time. Grieve the loss, and continue life in their honor. Rest in paradise Eddie and Sassy. May you fly higher than you ever have. ❤
Reading your comment made me cry for Eddie & Sassy. It is sadness that engulfs me. My heart goes out to his friends and family. Eddie & Sassy are flying together with the angels now. Forever in the heart of all those who knew them. God bless ❤
@JesusismyRock773 I know you're well intentioned but this comment is very insensitive the same way I'm reading this comment so will the family and for them to read that a person is saying that their loved one will only be in heaven if they believed in Jesus is pretty insensitive we all want believe that our loved one is going to heaven so if you can please delete this comment
I've viewed many of these recovery videos. None has struck me as hard as this one. No egos or attitudes involved, just kind, empathetic professionals working together to get Eddie and Sassy home. From start to finish, this video should serve as the Gold Standard for how this type of operation is conducted. As a medical professional myself, I have seen some of those things you can't unsee and spoken with the families. It's not easy. God bless everyone involved, especially Eddie and Sassy. They've gone home.
So glad they didnt see Eddie's body. Ive seen bodies in all sorts of conditions, some I knew well and some were strangers. What you guys said to the young fellows was the right advice. Very sad to lose a young fellow like that.
I was a cop for thirty years. Though I never experienced working with a dive team..I have to say..your compassion and professionalism is off the charts. Kudos to you and your team for that!

The amount of respect given by everyone, in all aspects of getting Eddie and Sassy out and taken care of, is unheard of!!! What a wonderful group of friends he had as well! Prayers for his family! Job well done again Jared, thank you and your team!
💜💜💜 I lost my son, my only child (27 years old) on 4/13/11 in a vehicle accident. He was alone and I can say from experience, “you can NEVER un-see” things that you see. This video truly hurt my heart but at least family and friends have answers. Thank you guys!
Seeing the dog at the end absolutely broke me, I’m a truck driver and my dog looks like he could be sassy’s brother.God be with the friends and family as we come into the holiday season and Jared said it best if not a “tad” off kilter. Our earthly nature is only temporary, but our souls live eternally. God be with anyone this holiday season who’s dealing with a recent loss.
His epilepsy was causing his anger. I know this. It caused mine. Thankfully, I lived through it to find the other side of it. Unfortunately, Eddie didn’t. Men are more prone to pass due to seizures. I don’t know why.

So happy for the family. Congratulations on #34. You are back with a bang! I'm so happy with the compassion showed by the medical examiner. So happy Sassy was reunited with Eddie. He had really loyal friends.

I am local to this, I've been waiting for this episode to come out. My father was epileptic and still drove. As soon as I was big enough to sit up front, I was taught how to force a car into neutral and move his legs off the pedals. I was taught to steer and how to maneuver the car from the passenger seat while slowly pulling the emergency brake. We practiced on gravel lots and dirt roads. I'm so glad I never had to use that training. I was too young to realize that we could have ended up just like this. RIP Eddie and Sassy, I'm happy to see they got to go together in the end.

Thank you for bringing Eddie and Sassy home. Still, so sad and I hope they are able to get answers if it was indeed a seizure episode that caused the crash. I know its hard for them to determine.
I'm so, so, sorry for your loss
I'm so sorry
So sorry for your loss!!! I hope you are ok. Big hugs to you ❤
@@Girlygirlracn Thank you. I just know what these parents are going through with the loss of their son. I does not matter the age, its your child. Doesn't matter how, its your child. It is never the same. You are not the same after.
@@Diz00 Thank you. I just understand what the parents are feeling and will feel from now on.
“eddie and sassy will remain together” im sobbing.
Friends like that don’t grow on trees. Absolutely amazing.
We were friends when he was new to fedex. Thank you so much for finding him😭😭
I’m sorry for your loss 😢
Clearly Eddie was a gem of a human being who was deservedly loved by so many people to be trying to bring him home whatever the cost. I’m so sorry for your loss of a friend but I hope Eddie and Sassy being brought back home can help you down the path of emotional healing ❤
R. I. P. Eddie. My goodness, thank you Jared for bringing him back. 🙏 💚 R. I. P. Puppy 🙏 💚
Sassy had to be confused and frightened, i can’t imagine her last moments. Just sad and heartbreaking.
As a pet owner i also think of her🥺
What about the people
@@africangirllifestyle7686why can’t people fell for both!? 🙄
@@africangirllifestyle7686 If Eddie had a grand mal seizure, he may not have noticed it.
@@africangirllifestyle7686 this entire video is about “the people”. we’re allowed to care about people AND dogs. not every comment has to mention both.
R.I.P Eddie & Sassy🙏🏼
Thank you to the medical examiner. She was so professional & sincere....
That's the cleanest water I've seen you dive in. Glad this is one of the stories that's solved.
The mom yelling "he was only 27" that broke me. RIP Eddie and Sassy. Condolences to the family.
Bro when the dad start crying and choking up I teared up and then she said the 27 thing and I lost it
Being a mom myself, hearing the mom's pain, my heart broke for her.
That part broke my heart 💔 having lost a daughter at the age of 20 is so hard to comprehend
I don’t have to be a mom to feel her pain.. you shouldn’t have to share someone’s circumstances in order to empathize with them.
These guys should have unlimited funds... they produce results.
They do better work than the police
RIP Sassy and Eddie😪😪😪
How long were they missing?
I'm so glad that his friends were still looking for him. Those were true friends. They also gave great details to aid in the location of his vehicle
The medical examiner was so very kind. I am so sad for his family, but especially for his friends who were searching for him and staying right there with him at the end. 😢
I was so happy that they showed Sassy's photo at the end along with his photos.
I read "solved" in the title of the video, yet still cry the moment they are found ❤ God bless you and the amazing work you do
Me too ❤
Me too.
I always cry its so hard not to feel for these strangers i pray they find strength and comfort
This is one of the saddest cases I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying something.
Rest in Peace.
I'm crying for the little dog. I am so glad they will be together.
me too!
So glad you could give find their son and give them closure. God bless you Jared.
Whoever the ME is should be in charge of all operations not just in that county but in that entire state. Amazingly professional and exceptionally human. Everyone should strive to be that humanistic because the world would be a better place. 👏🏻 ❤
Very nice that his friends where out looking for him. They had the location nailed too. The people working the scene after were great too.
That ME was so compassionate and eloquently thoughtful towards Eddies friends in explaining the condition of his body. Glad also that she included Sassy. They have tough jobs. RIP to Eddie and Sassy. Condolences to his parents and friends ❤
A family member passed this way in water after an epileptic seizure. Luckily he was found also. Thank you for doing all you can do.
I loved how the medical examiner explained everything and even took the time to even talk to them rip Eddie and sassy
The female ME is amazing. The way she speaks and treats Eddies loved ones is so beautiful. I’m so happy she was there.
I'd say her gender is the least important thing after all but out of some reason people feel the need to add "female" to the description, while there's only one ME anyways??
@@pete5405that's what im saying. the specification of the gender is really weird.
Just call her an ME.
As an epileptic.. 27 currently with grand mal seizures.. who loves riding motorcycles also which is quite ironic... this story gets me to my core. Thank you guys for everything you do. Thank you for finding him.
Don’t drive. I don’t.
Only if Eddie believed in our Lord Jesus Christ is he in Heaven with Jesus and will live for eternity. I hope he had a relationship with Jesus Christ.
@@JesusismyRock773 Jesus does not judge. If you are a good person you will still go to heaven. And even if you are not Jesus is forgiving and loving.
@JesusismyRock773 Really? How judgemental of you. Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists go to Heaven if GOD sees fit. It's not up to you.
Medical examiner was great! Professional- explained everything very well, but also super understanding, caring and compassionate.
So glad Jay had such good friends that cared for him so much and were able to be there for his loving parents. My heart breaks for them.
Rip Jay and Sassy. Prayers for his family and friends.
The Medical Examiner went beyond and I have so much respect for her. RIP Eddie 🙏🏻
The amount of respect given by everyone, in all aspects of getting Eddie and Sassy out and taken care of, is unheard of!!! What a wonderful group of friends he had as well! Prayers for his family!
Job well done again Jared, thank you and your team!
That Woman seen things, very bad things. She is an Angel, nothing less.
I can't say it enough. Everyone involved in this recovery has been amazing. God bless everyone.
💜💜💜 I lost my son, my only child (27 years old) on 4/13/11 in a vehicle accident. He was alone and I can say from experience, “you can NEVER un-see” things that you see. This video truly hurt my heart but at least family and friends have answers. Thank you guys!
I’m so sorry for your loss 💜
@ thank you
I cant help but cry every time someone is found. i don't know these people personally but it is a heavy feeling. big hugs to the family
I don’t know why.
the coroner was extremely professional and sensitive with the friends.
Such a good person, she absolutely is!
Her respect in " keeping them together" made me cry. She didnt have to but yeah just beautiful and caring for both Eddie and Sassy .
Rest In Peace Eddie and Sassy. To the parents, sibling, and friends may you remember them as they were.
We really need to appreciate how his company found a different job for him since he had seizures, not many companies would do that.
No one I worked for did. They just fired me lol. 😂
Y'all are a true blessing from God. Not many people who care anymore. So thank you
My nickname is Sassy, you never fail to warm my being when you bring hope and repair to these families’ exhausted, broken and pained hearts. Your efforts lift such a weight from them. We love you Jared and Matt, praying for you all the way ❤
This story was such a tear-jerker!! Very, very sad, but at least there were a lot of caring volunteers, rescue workers, family and friends that all worked together to bring Eddie & Sassy home😢
So happy for the family. Congratulations on #34. You are back with a bang!
I'm so happy with the compassion showed by the medical examiner. So happy Sassy was reunited with Eddie.
He had really loyal friends.
RIP Sassy- she had to have been so terrified. God be with her.
🐾🐾💔🕯😭 Ich will es mir gar nicht vorstellen. So herzzerreißend.
But remember she died with her best friend and the number one part of her life. I find that takes some of the sting out. She was with the love of her life.

This team is God-sent and I am so grateful for each and every one of them.
The coroner was excellent and what she was saying to them. Great job all around
She was. She was respectful but told the hard truth. It is something you don't want to see unless there is no other way to identify the body. As she said once you see it, you can't unsee it.
@@GailVaughtthis is very true as a Police Officer I've seen many water recoveries and you don't want to see what happens to the body I'm not going to go into details but let's just say it's not a pleasant sight to see and it will scar you forever

It's nice that he had such good friends there on the West coast that they were there looking for him when you came by
That medical examiner is such a kind soul, I hope she has a good life.
Rest well Eddie, may you find peace and the infinite lives you will live in the future be filled with happiness.
Aren't there laws about driving while being epileptic? I know here in Germany there are and as far as I searched it's the same in the US?
And in the UK you can’t drive if epileptic either
It depends on the state and severity from what I have seen here stateside. If it's really bad they permanently take your license.
@@pete5405 depends on the state and the medical status. in oregon if you've been seizure-free for three months and have documentation from a medical professional stating you're safe to drive, your license will be unsuspended or you'll be allowed to acquire one.
A grandfather at our church has raised his fourteen year-old granddaughter since birth. He started having a stroke, and that little girl took control of the car, and drove him to the hospital ❤
I am glad you work on fresher cases now, to save those families the heartache of not knowing for 20 years, just as Jay's dad said. But they make me cry because the families' pain is so raw and real. With cold cases, you bring the family resolution for their grief, but these fresh ones are so hard. You help so many families, I just hope you can deal with the sadness and take care of yourselves too. You are all amazing AWP!
I appreciate that Medical Examiner for explaining everything to them. What an amazing person.

Yeah that just brought me to tears .
Thank you Jared Keep bringing them home 😢❤
I can't believe how empathetic and caring that ME is. She isn't treating thus like a job. There's no need for her to take that much time with them.
Right? She is a minor angel.....factual yet comforting and caring....
Jarod, Over the years you & your crews have brought closure to so many families. Thank you for all your hard work. God Bless🙏🙏
this made me cry, thankyou Jared and AWP for finding Eddie and Sassy and bringing them home, as his father said he now can stop wondering were his son is and can lay his to rest along side sassy.
the medical examiner was so professional and took time to explain everything to his friends, she has empathy and compassion, to take time to explain everything to his friends and to make sure Sassy was with Eddie ,😭😭
The deputy's voice when he heard there had been a dog in the van nearly broke me. And the ME was absolutely amazing. What a true professional.
Awesome job!!!! Rest in peace Eddie & dog sassy & prayers for the family
So glad you were able to find them both. The Medical Examiner was professional , compassionate, patient and just plain kind. Too bad the cops didn’t even appear to look for him, tracks were still visible, as well as the oil sick. Good friends and your kind hearts, means so much. Thank you for caring and taking action.
