@@AC030 drag reduction system. on some straights, the driver can press a button that opens a flap on the rear wing. this reduces drag allowing the cars to go much faster on the straights.
Verstappen used to be alright on Saturday, and great on Sunday. When he had to battle Ricciardo at Red Bull something triggered him to work on his qualifying pace. Over the years he grew into a very well-rounded driver. Getting 7 poles in one year when you're racing against the great Lewis Hamilton in the mighty Mercedes isn't easy. If the car can do it, Verstappen will win everything there is to win.

And avg race pace difference between max and the Mercedes guys has been: 1. When max won a gp= 0.2-0.25 seconds 2. When Lewis has won a gp=0.02-0.04 seconds And this is race pace not quali pace.
To put things in a bit of perspective, we are a tiny tiny country and it’s already amazing that someone is driving in F1. But doing it at the top level makes it so much more special. We know this is probably only once in a life time. That’s why we are so Passionate.

I did a 1:08.859 in a racing sim last year with a 2020 spec car, and with the softest available compound to choose from and *no wind.* The fact that Max did this with less front downforce, a harder compound tyre, and less track grip is absolutely insane. That RB16B was literally singing. Brilliant laptime from the Flying Dutchman.
Turn 4 is the sickiest turn I've seen so far. Going deep the turn almost towards the wall to counter back to next turn makes me wonder how drivers will try to attempt overtaking here.
Max and Red Bull were just on another level compared to Mercedes that weekend. Even with all the issues he had during the lap he made it stick and got pole position. Hopefully he can do the same in 2022.

The drivers were doing this line even in early fp1 as people were still experimenting with lines in T3. -- It’s probably more rubbered in, yes. But for whatever reason, the drivers all converged toward that line as the best compromise, and then it’s only because of that, that it became the rubbered line
When I went to Zandvoort in 1977 the first corner, the sweeper called Tarzan, had no buildings, construction, parking or any other obstruction from entrance to exit. Now, the view is limited and they’re out of sight in a flash . . .
