Afternoon, Mr Bruff, sorry I'm late for class. Great videos, but I have a small issue here: the identity of 'Bellona's bridegroom'. Rosse brings his report fresh from Fife, where Macduff is Thane. Indeed, shortly we will see Macbeth puzzled to be named Thane of Cawdor, apparently unaware there is any problem regarding Cawdor (referring to him as "a prosperous gentleman", not as a traitor.) Therefore, Macbeth was not the Bellona's bridegroom who curbed Cawdor's lavish spirit. That must have been MacDuff. Don't you think?
@@mrbruff Thanks, yes, I have seen it interpreted your way in several GCSE study guides, but to my reading it simply makes no sense for it to be Macbeth, unless it is categorised as one of those errors of logic on Shakespeare's part. (Btw, I just realised I posted this topic in the wrong video.)

This is actually a widely debated topic, with mixed opinions on both sides. I would say that both are valid interpretations.
