I first saw Lithgow in " The World according to Garp " in 1982. He has such a sweet charisma about him. Adeptly moving from high comedy to melodrama, from Solomon to Churchill, he is a talented character actor. It must be a joyful experience to work with him in any field of entertainment. God bless him!
I loved him in Santa Claus The Movie playing the greedy toy maker. Someone suggests he makes his toys and give them for free. The way he almost swallows his cigar whilst shouting "FOR FREE??!!"
I've listened to that Radio performance of The Empire Strikes Back when it came out. Recorded it on old cassette tapes too! I never knew it was Lithgow. I could identify Brock Peters a Vader, and Perry King as Solo, but I had no idea it was Lithgow as Yoda. Man that was a great serial on NPR back in the day!!
So much talent sitting on that couch. That's what I love about Graham Norton, his show is unique in that it brings these people together in one interview.
Whoever doesn't know who John Lithgow is, shame on you. He's the very definition of the word "legend". Versatile at both drama and comedy. Best known from Cliffhanger, Harry and the Hendersons, 3rd Rock from the Sun and Shrek.
I have all three of the Star Wars radio dramas, Lithgow as Yoda is a lot of fun. You CANNOT hear his human side at all, he is 100% Yoda. Lots of other great names are present in the cast besides the movie originals too: Perry King is a brilliant Han Solo, Brock Peters as Vader is every bit as iconic as Jones. Ed Begley Jr. was Boba Fett and Ed Asner, hilariously, was Jabba the Hutt.
@@Bobdixon_Moonvarga_Dancer_III nope, the OP was right. The film was released with different titles in different countries. In the US it was "Harry and the Hendersons," but in the UK it was "Bigfoot and the Hendersons."

I saw him in Ricochet and I hated his character so much. Really a great actor, but I cannot separate him from the movie character, so I don’t like him very much. I know it’s absolutely irrational, but this is the burden of a really good and believable actor. For me he IS Blake and not one of his other roles can convince me, that he is not the bad guy. I hope it makes any sense. No? Just me? Well I was very young back then and he left a lasting impression on me. I mean he played plenty of other mean characters, e.g. in the Accountant, Pitch Perfect 3, etc.
So funny how non-Hunagrians pronounce gulyás, trying to make it sound more "hugarian" (to their ears). However, I wish I heard Sean Connery say gúlás (which is in fact a completely different word in hungarian and has nothing to do with gulyás.) From a hungarian fan to both Graham and Sean Connery.
John Lithgow. He can play any role. Truly one of the most underrated actors.
these days yes but back in the 90's he was the shit and i mean before he did 3rd Rock From the sun
He's amazing as Churchil !
He’s incredible
@@rolandofgilead43 After men can play roles, they must take a female turn on the cartoon or CGI woman they potray (Like Dubs = VOICEOVER ACT)

John Lithgow is the most British non British person but seriously he's a extremely talented man
What a brilliant way to put it. I never thought of him that way, but you're so right.
Not to mention he be a very scary villain

I was actually debating with someone recently if he has British decent. It would just make sense.
Martin Adrian Arcenas he was a villain in dexter
John Lithgow’s one of those rare actors with a 100% approval rating from everyone. 😁
My sister hates him. She’s always said he has a child rapey vibe. Way before Dexter.
Is a joy watch how Graham Norton conducts the show, is like watch some friends on a living room, everybody is so relaxed.
Cheers from Brazil.
John Lithgow was superb as Winston Churchill in "The Crown"
That was John Lithgow? All this time, I thought he was puppeted by Frank Oz.
He's just superb in general
He was that, i very much enjoyed him in shrek.
tempted to watch it just for that to be honest
John Lithgow is a legend. Marvelous personality.
John Lithgow is better than the rest of that crowd combined. Absolutely fantastic actor and criminally underrated.
So good in The World According To Garp

John Lithgow can be so very very funny, just watch all the old episodes of 'Third rock from the sun', love him!!!

Raising Cain and Ricochet

John Lithgow... on the radio... as Yoda?
He waaas... ACTING! GENIUS! THANK YOOOOU!
