    I'm investing in a Canon Pixima Pro 100 and I've watched your wonderful video's and researched the Precision web-site.
    Questions :
    What is the best (cheapest) way to get an extra set of carts ?
    a.) CLI 42 on e-bay ? How can I be sure they have the chip that I can use Precision's resetter ?
    b.) CLI 8 from Precision and another resetter for those ?
    Any advice wold be appreciated and thanks for your generous consideration,
    Sincerely ......................

      William Levitt Thank you William!When you have as many printers on hand, you have to prioritize between when you use OEM and 3rd Party ( Super cheap and more expensive ) otherwise you'd go broke. I am constantly testing inks from various sources and when I find something that works well, I stick to it and try to share the results with everyone.
      There are some brand new entries in the ink world that are very, very good. Once I am able to fully disclose these inks and where to get them, I will spill the beans!

    Hi Jose. I just found and subscribed to your videos this weekend and I'm binge watching your Sublimation series. Thank you for great videos and information. I am planning to purchase an Epson WF7110 (for wide print area) and install the Precision Colors inks for these printers. I'm not sure about buying the bundle as I do not trust the ink that may come with it. My question is, when I buy the printer, PC inks (as you highly recommended) and new empty cartridges can I just follow video directions to install the sub inks? Or will there be other steps after ink installation and before installing on my computer? This is for home/hobby use right now but I want the best results I can get for my projects. Thank you.

    Hi--I really enjoy your Canon pro100 tutorials! I have that as well as a pro9000 that has just died after many years,, and I have oem cartridges left over. If I replace them with a pro100 chip, do I have to flush them, or can I still use the ink inside?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The inks are indeed different so you would have to flush them. But where would you get lone CLI-42 chips from??? If you not make sense to swop chips from CLI-42 which are properly labeled and put them on CLI-8s! Why would you do that?

    • @pjcobbs8908

    supposed to be kept cold, like in a fridge ?

Of which large cartridges of EPSON I can use ink for Stylus Pro 3800? Is the same ink inside or there are differences? No just refill EACH carts with the Signature Edition matching colors. Let them go empty, reset and fill with the PC inks. You can use either OEM red for MAX results or the SE red which if you saw my videos works perfectly well for the vast majority of images.

      Go to www.precisioncolors.com and order a full kit For the PRO100. The carts will require modification to be able to be refilled. With the initial kit your I'll get a chip reseter. But most of all.watch ALL my CLI-42 videos on that playlist. Also watch the videos on the precisioncolors website pertaining to the PRO-100/CLI42. You are about to enter a new world and it has to be done just right as the Canon print heads are not get forgiving with carts that are not properly modified and refilled.

      They are all the same inks and resetter. The difference is volume of ink and whether you want to use syringes or squeeze bottles with needles to load the ink into the carts. That choice is totally up to you.

    Hi Jose, Love your channel...
    I just bought a Pixma Pro 100 from B&H with the rebate and I just bought another brand new with no ink or print head on eBay for $40 with shipping as a back up.
    I also bought a set of used cartridges and another set of 3rd party emptys with re-settable chips. And I bought the deluxe package of Inks with resetter and bottles with the 2" needles from Precision Colors
    My question is how close is PC inks? Can I fill and top off the OEM cartridges with the PC ink except for the yellow cartridge which Precision Colors will send me a replacement to use as I know the yellow can't be mixed with the OEM ink.
    What do you think I could or should do with the above resources?
    Thanks Jose.....Keep up the great work!

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It looks like you have everything you will need. The inks are very c!ose. Nothing is ever a perfect match to OEM. But you should be able to use OEM ICC profilprofiles and a after sever refills with PC inks end you can use PCs own custom ICC profiles which are free and available for many common papers. Also remember that you be refilling for about 60 cents a cart instead of $14 a piece.

    Hi Jose !!
    Got a quick question on the canon pro 100 yellow ink problem. Even when you get the new replacement cart....and fill that with the Precision Color yellow ink...what happens when that mixes with the remaining old ink that is in the nozzle?? How can I avoid that gelling up when I first install the new ink? Thanks for any ideas
    John

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sharon Wignot Nothing will really happen. The problems occur only when PC ink mixes with very diluted yellow OEM ink remnant that remain in the original yellow cart. Once you load the replacement cart filled with PC yellow it will pushout all remnants of OEM yellow ink out of the print head during the purge cycle when you install e cart.

    • @cheo1949

      No the is not such thing as Universal ink Pigment or otherwise!!!!!
      If you see it being sold that way, run a fast as you can.
      For example even with OEM inks. If you use Epson pigment ink on a canon printer, you will end up with a burned up print head. The physical characteristics of inks differ from printer to printer. So no!!! Nothing is universal!!

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mike Maldonado I would not recommend that you use anything but OEM carts to refill. Any and all refillables that have ever been designed for CANON printers have inferior ink feed properties. If there is a quick way to kill a CANON print head is to starve it of ink during use. So I would tell you to just modify your OEM carts as shown in the Precisioncolors.com web site and use their complete refilling set as it is 100% tested by me! The inks are made in the USA as opposed to CHINA like the company you are considering.

      AS many times as you can reset its chip. How many times is that? No clue. But simply put. A cart can be refilled and reset many times. Will likely out live your PRO10. As it will eventually stop working once it's internal wast ink pads fill up. At that point you just replace the unit as its repair will be prohibitive.

    Thanks for this, Jose. I have used a few "brands" of 3rd party inks on Canon printers. One I like is G&G (probably from China), but I have had clogging problems (which is probably due to not using the printer.) There is also a lot of discussion around 3rd party inks causing clogging out there in the forums. There are a lot of "no-name" "compatible" inks available out there where you don't really know the manufacturer of ink or even if it is consistent each time you buy it. How do you know which ones you can trust?
    One good quality supplier that keeps coming up is Precision Colors. They unfortunately do not have prefilled cartridges for my printer, so I am going to try their ink and empty cartridges. I had a set of their inks with my Canon iP8500, but I got cheap (leaky) empty cartridges from eBay and ended up burning up the printhead. Anyway, if you hear of anyone who wants to get some free ink to try for the cost of mailing from Vancouver Island Canada, I have used ones from this set: www.precisioncolors.com/C8A.html

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what you mean by IFP printer.
      The R2880 required Ultrachrome K3 with vivid magenta.
      You get it either from large volume carts from large Epson printers using the same inkset and you harvest the ink and use it for refilling.
      Or you buy equivalent third party inks and use ten!
      I recommend either from Marrutt or www.octoinkjet.co.uk

    Hello Jose, I'm looking for epson 73n to use it in Tx220, what do you recommend? I was looking in amazon and ebay buy not sure what cartridges to buy

      @cheo1949  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not so sure I know that Epson model. I tend to concentrate on dedicated photo printer models so I have to apologize.

      Thanks, I'm not familiar with photo printers, I have a D7100 and I would like to buy a printer for personal use. I don't know what to buy and in Costa Rica printers are very expensive

      @cheo1949  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I assume that is a canon DSLR? So you are going to need a photo printer if that is what you want to do. Any printer with 6 or more colors should produce great results. Canon would be my recommendation for you. What model? Whatever you can afford. So I can not give you an exact answer.

    Is the Image specialist pigment ink for the Epson R1900 a substitute for R1800?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, yes. But it is a bit different too. The R1800 used blue and the R1900 introduces orange.

    Hi José! I bought a kit of ACR cartridges from Inkuten for the Canon Pro-100. They worked perfectly until I decided to fill it up onde of this cartridges. Although filled with ink, I get the message in the settings menu "the remaining level of the following ink can not be correctly detected" or "the following ink may have run out". Would you know how I can solve this problem without having a chip reseter?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope i do not know what you could possibly do. A reseter MIGHTY work but the moral is you should always modify and reset and refill your own CLI-42 carts!!!! Why would have gone through that route when there is a proven and reliable method?

    • @ivanpadovani2436
      @ivanpadovani2436 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should have known your youtube channel before buying the cartridge! Anyway thank you very much for the answer! Have a nice weekend!

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you still have the originals? It's not too late if you still do. The chips on these carts are totally unreliable and the cart bodies themselves do not fit or seal the print head ink ports optimally so they pretty much always fail.

    if i get those large ink cartridges off ebay can i siphon the ink and use it with t126 cartridges or is the ink a slightly different color?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ink sets are custom matched and sometimes can not be combined just because a color has the same name. In the case OF EPSON K3 ink set whether non vivid or vivid, you can.

    Dear Sir, I find it great but as I am not trained in institute or at other place I am having some problem about the calibrating the monitor , is there any possibility by that i can get idea to certain point say Contrast -50 Brightness at 50 so on by that i can land near to calibrating pointing
    Thanks Rohtash

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rohtash Singh It is very difficult to calibrate your monitor "By Eye" by using the manual adjustments and buttons on the monitor itself. To do a proper job you need to use a piece of calibrating hardware such as sold by X-Rite - Spider and others.Simply adjusting contrast and brightness does not calibrate a monitor. You must use a calibrator to also properly calibrate your monitor's color response. Out of the box they are mostly all too blue and too bright.Yes you can do it by eye but it will never be as accurate and correct as it needs to be for editing and printing images.Joe AKA Jtoolman

      @cheo1949  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are is in OEM inks? Of that is the case the printer might be damaged. Try this first. Turn it off mmd unplug it from the outlet. Wait about half an hour. Re plug and power up. Of it still recognize the presence of cart, of is damaged. Of you instead are using compatibles then you might need to change your source. But more likely, there ois something wrong with it.

      Creo que te refieres a ciertas tintas magenta que no tienen mucho brillo. Pero ahora las tintas PCK3HD vendidas por precisioncolors eliminated los problemas de brillo. I no tienes que mesclar diferentes tintas.

    We have been using the New Compatible Canon HD Inks supplied at The Printer Toner Company, they are amazing. Not sure what the new technology is though you can see them here www.tptc.biz/canon-pgi-550xl--cli-551xl-ink-cartridge-multipack-high-capacity-2-black--3-colour--pgi-550xlcli-551bkcmy---refurbished-8738-p.asp

      @cheo1949  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't really know. You are using them? And on what printer? From the look of the set they are for a simple AIO type printer so they would not have to be up to the level of what one would need for feeding dedicate pro photo printers and still match oem.

    TL;DR 3rd party inks SUCK for important photos.

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the inks. I am using 3rd party inks that are as good or even a bit better in color rendition and accuracy as originals. Where they fall short is longevity but that easy to mitigate.
