What a fun Halloween kit! I like the idea of wrapping felt around your piece at the end to make it look more finished! I sometimes end up with unsightly bumps on my pieces at the end :)
Does anyone else love the sound of the needle poking into the felt? It's so relaxing to me! I also just ordered a needle felt kit, which it will turn out to be a Shih Tzu! I'm gonna love this!

I would prefer kits found on Amazon, but if the best beginner kits are not on there, can you point me in other directions? And I would also like to know what needles are best. hey maqaroon! I found something interesting. I took a clothes pin and undid it to where there was a needle sticking out. I got some yarn and a sponge to see if it would combine like needle felt, suprisingly it did! I'm super excited, I just made a plushie with 4 things : Yarn (alot of black, some white and a little bit of red) sponge clothes pin plastic straw (as thick as a cuprisun straw) 7 cotton balls 1. take the straw and wrap a thick layer of black yarn around it 2. at the end of the stick wrap a bit more black yarn, about an inch away from the end of it. 3. put 3 of the 7 cotton balls on the inch you didn't cover (use string, thread, or whatever U like to attach it) 4. add the other 4 at the top of it and start wrapping the black yarn around the top. 5. you'll end up with a shape of a maraca. take some white yarn and wrap a little around the body and head to make stripes, leave a space without stripes for the face. 6. take pieces of white yarn and roll them up. take your clothes pin and start poking the yarn for the eyes on the face. 7. do the ears the same way you did on the needle felt alpaca video. 8. add pink yarn for the kawaii cheeks. and then done! time taken 4 hours. I hope you enjoy! have fun!

Hey, if you sew on some of the details, couldn't you leave a portion of that 1/4th you leave out to smooth the surface, and just felt that on to smooth out the back after you add the details? That would hide any extra thread :D
