How to Use Find My iPhone to Track Your Lost or Stolen iOS Device

- Watch this video to learn how to set up and use the Find My iPhone tracking system to locate your lost or stolen Apple devices. We'll walk you through the steps to set up the feature on your device, and show you how to track your lost device through the Find My iPhone app, as well as through your computer's web browser.
To set up Find My iPhone:
Open your settings. Tap your name. Tap iCloud. Scroll down and select Find My iPhone. Tap the switch to enable Find My iPhone. Tap the switch labelled “Send Last Location” if you want your device’s location to be automatically sent to Apple when the device’s battery level is low.
To track your device with the Find My iPhone app:
Tap Find iPhone on your iOS home screen. Sign in to your Apple ID. Tap the name of the device you want to find. Tap the blue dot representing your device on the map. At the bottom of your screen, you’ll see options to play a sound to help you find your device, put your device in lost mode to prevent others from using it or accessing data stored on it, or erase all the data on the device. Tap the car icon to get directions to the device’s location.
To track your device through your computer's web browser:
Go to iCloud.com/find. Sign in to your Apple ID. Click on a dot on the map to see a device’s name. Then click the i icon on the right. You’ll see the same options as are available on the Find My iPhone app - play a sound, lost mode, and erase device.

That's fine and dandy, except the web browser demands the 2nd factor code. Problem is, that code is sent to...wait for it...the lost iphone. Can't believe Apple didn't think of that being a problem...
It really depends on your account settings. That's why its important to research before buying anything :)

Thank you. Unfortunately unlike majority here I actually lost my phone on the highway a long way from my house. This app is good, because if it can find my absolutely destroyed and decimated phone in the middle of the highway, I think it can find yours. Dying inside. 10/10 recommend.

Usual, after a scare last night when I couldn't find my phone. Panic! It took me 20 stressful minutes to find. This feature should be on by default. Unfortunately if you had turned it off, you can't turn it on without having the device. But this is very useful for those who do have Find My iPhone enabled.

Unfortunately Find my Airpods only works when your AirPods are still within range (connected to) your device. Otherwise you'll only be able to see the last location where they were connected.

Maybe try going out with a friend and have them keep calling your phone and hopefully you could hear it ring? If you've shared your location with any friends/family they could maybe locate your phone that way, or even any other apps like Snapchat maps where your location might be shared could come in handy! If you remove your device from FindMyiPhone you won't be able to track the device unless you turn tracking on again.
