    Excellent tone. I love the shallower rack toms paired with the deeper floors. Just the right amount of decay on the rack toms so they get out of the way and the floors bring beef! Perfect sounding kit, nice choice on the 421's on the floor or any tom for that matter

    The Gretsch USA Custom, Brooklyn, and Sonor Vintage, which I own, are the most standout kits to my ears.

    Tell me I'm crazy, but I'm getting a similar sound out of my Sonor SQ1s. I've got UV2s on top and UV1s on the botom. Tuned low, like big marshmallows of death. To me like like a cross between old Tama Superstars, Gretsch and Iron Maiden Piece of Mind. Of coarse I use Paiste, because they make everything taste better. Cheers. Love the vids.

      I know exactly what you mean and you’re not crazy 😊 I’m trying really hard to get out of the way of myself and my default sound/tuning. Partially achieved here. Oh and Paiste ❤️ since 92! 👍

      you're not crazy . any high end drum set will sound amazing and be "head flexible" even cheap can go along way under mics. It sounds stellar, and he is great, but brands... not the biggest difference.

      @@morbidmanmusic I have to say when it comes to brands having owned like 10 different brand kits until I heard and played a USA custom nothing sounds like USA custom! They play themselves, cut like nothing else, sing at any tuning range, they are he warmest most full sounding drums ever and they never die at all no matter the room! The other kit I hit and was floored with was a sonor SQ2, imo nothing I ever played sounded or felt like those two kits the Sonor feeling and sounding similar to the Gretsch in everything I said but the difference was the Sonor was a bit more thuddy while the Gretsch resonated more with a more musical note. Yeah you can make any high end kit sound good and mid range kit for that matter but nothing is going to have that boom, warmth and response of that Gretsch USA drum especially the Jasper shells being they were thinner then the new USA’s.

    These sound amazing. Beautiful playing too. I have a USA Custom too and am getting loads of sympathetic residents from the 16” floor tom, when I hit the 22” bass drum… have you got any words of wisdom please 🙏 🔥

    • @GlennWilsonDrums
      @GlennWilsonDrums  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey thanks Alex 🙏 Hard to say as it could be many things. Things I would try first, make sure they are not close to each other in pitch. I know it sounds strange but if you crank up the kick drum and have a really flappy floor Tom they can end up pretty close to each other in pitch. Also try tuning the reso head on the floor Tom a bit higher than the batter (if you haven’t already), this can sometimes help. Better yet, post a clip so we can check it out 👍

      @@GlennWilsonDrums thanks mate that’s all good advice. I think I need to do more tuning between them both. It’s in rehearsal studio, so I have to pay money for every hour Im with it. I’ll look at these ideas next time I’m in. 👌

    • @GlennWilsonDrums
      @GlennWilsonDrums  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ruanddu Sure thing. The main ride is a Paiste swish masters 22. Over the hi hat is a dark masters crash 20, and on the other side near the floor Tom is a dark crash ride masters Paiste 20. The high hats are 14 inch Paiste 602s vintage. That fill is RLRLRL - RllrrL - Rll. The Rll at the end makes the fill roll over the bar! Let me know if that helps! 👍 Thanks for checking it out.
