- Episode 3 of my Lost Island Series. I show you how to build a raft base for beginners in Ark: Lost Island. I go through all the steps in real time so easy to follow how to build a raft base. This is a simple build anyone can do with plenty of space and room for dino storage.

How you start the foundation on top of the raft is the gold. Thanks, man.
tip ive found:
stairs are better than ramps or sloped ceilings as they have a slightly shorter hitbox; ramps and slopes can bonk your head when entering/exiting through a sloping area. You can also toggle them to use a ramp model anyway.
Thanks though, ive never used fence foundations and it was driving me nuts not knowing how to sink foundations

Works great for mobile too. Only thing for mobile is that when lining up the fence, you need to move it a bit to the left so you can place all 9 foundations

Nice raft build. The server I play on must be bugged or something. The raft only has like maybe 30 'structures'. What a joke.
Thanks! That's weird it should in default have 88 structures. Unfortunately build pieces count too.

When you make the turn up the west coast of the map, the first two white hills will be separated by a small ravine. You'll find a couple of rich metal nodes and a couple of regular ones in there.

Rafts can hold 88 Structure pieces, and I've heard 1800 in weight, Items in container's weight don't add in, Dinos do though, though borg cube builds like this is hard to see to drive ... also you could have just picked up the canoe
Is this still working? I've tried countless guides but it seems like wildcard might have updated this mechanic. I'm unable to snap any foundations nor ceilings at the bottom of the pillar. Or perhaps S+ mod is screwing with this?
S+ mod screws with this. S+ mod fixes alot of thing that is wonky with building but gets rid of other things. S+ blocks stack so I believe you can just snap them underneath. So place foundation on top of raft then snap another foundation underneath. I haven't tried this with S+ but in theory that shoukd work. If not just use the regular ark pieces and build with S+ later.

Why is it that when I'm almost finished making this, it says "can't place wooden double doorframe: there are already too many structures on this platform!", can you help me?
You probably have to increase the structure limit. If you're not able to do that then you have to make thr board smaller.
Im building with stone rather than wood, the ramps are janky. 2 ramps dont reach the bottom, and it doesnt let me place more than one anyway as it is "too far away from platform" I feel like im just being stupid and the answer is in plain sight, but could you help me out please?
Edit: lol I was just being stupid. After looking into the video, you said ramps but used sloped roofs which got me confused. I was using stone ramps and to fix the problem i just have to use sloped stone roofs instead lol. Also I loved how you were able to put the foundations inside the raft that was so smart dude!
Edit Again: Nvm again you used ramps not sloped roofs i guess im going to try wooden ramps now..
Edit Again Again: FINALLY it worked. I guess stone just doesnt work for it.
I never have much luck building with stone ramps even on land. You're better off using the stone stairs if you really want to use stone, but wood ramps are just fine. The sloped roofs are usually put against a side of something so don't use those. It's possible, just kind of difficult.

How many materials do you need?
It varies based on how big you want to make the platform.
It says I can't add the railings bc theres to much o nthe structure
You may have to increase structure limit if you can. If you can't do that then you will have to do a slightly smaller build.

Can you really build all that? Did you edit the amount of you can build in raft?
Usually it's 88 structures. This raft isn't huge. I didn't count for this one, but I normally play with a higher structure count, but there's still limits to what you can do on a raft even if it is unlimited. If this version isn't working structures wise you can just make it a little smaller.
Ah man, idk if it's my building settings or if they changed it but i couldn't do the triangle ceilings
The triangle should be doable no matter the settings. If you're too far away from the raft that could be the problem. The ceiling rules that are on land still apply to a boat. Can't go 2 spaces away.
@@Fynixmech realized my mistake, got the triangles down. Now I'm not getting the doorframe, too many structures on platform. You know if there's a setting I can change?
@@jakegreen6341 You have to increase the structure platform limit. What you set it to is up to you.
Hang on. Did they nerf the amount of stuff you can build on your raft? I can’t put the last triangle on
It's possible they change stuff alot and I usually have to either change settings or find some way to build around the issue.

Okay I find that kinda dumb that you have to put down thatch ceilings over and over again if you wanna extend the raft
Yeah the build mechanics are weird. If you play on PC you can install mods to help with the problems that ark building has. I played on console for years so I know alot of the tricks to use to get around it, but it's still annoying and unpredictable at times.
Mine isn’t working with the ceilings so what should I do?
